Okay I am looking for some squad advise for the Haestrom mission. Currently I have these squad members ... imgur.com/96our1xNow when I imported my ME1 char I changed Shepards class from Soldier to Sentinel ... and so far I have not regretted doing so. Now I am 99% certain that I will take Garrus with me, since I get the feeling that a Sniper will be handy down there. Now so far I have often used Mordin on missions, but for this one I am for some reason not sure about him? Or would Grunt be more useful, since I think I read on the wiki that he is immune to that solar problem on Haestrom? So if he runs amok ( If I let him that is. ) he would not be in danger as Garrus and my Sentine, at least not from that solar problem. So what do you all think would be a good team for the Haestrom mission ... with the squad members I have at the moment.

I find the most useful thing on the Haestrom mission is overload, so my preferred squad is pretty much always Miranda and Garrus regardless of my class. Alternatively, you could replace Miranda with Zaeed, if he you have him and especially if he's set up with Squad Disruptor Ammo. Since you're a sentinel, you already have overload and warp (which is useful for taking down the Primes more quickly), so Miranda is more redundant for you that she would be with other classes.

Or have Garrus and Zaeed. Garrus not only has overload to deal with shields, but has armor piercing rounds, if his loyalty mission is completed to deal with the primes and colossus. Zaeed has disruptotr ammo which is very good against shields For me, I mostly use Miranda/Zaeed

Depends, are you playing as Assault Sentinel or Power focused Sentinel? Anyway if you're looking for easy mode then go with Garrus and Miranda both 'specced for Area Overload. It's especially useful against those annoying Drones.
Or you could switch one of them out for Zaeed if he has his Squad Disruptor set-up.

Thank you UpUpAwayRedux ... TheMikeFest and TheWhiteWolf. I was already 99% sure about Garrus, simply because he is a Sniper and has Overload just like my Sentinel. So combining that with Zaeed ... my Sentinel and their ammo rounds should help out a lot. So again thank you all.

my preferred squad is pretty much always Miranda and Garrus regardless of my class. This is my preference as well. Grunt's immunity to the solar radiation doesn't make up for his less than useful skillset.

Since I was curious about the Geth Pulse Rifle I hat to play on Hardcore. ( I normally play on normal. ) Especially the fight against the Geth Colossus was long and dangerous, but some how I made it through, got Tali and saved that Marine. ( Afterwards I switched back to Normal. )

Forgot your Cain at home, didn't you?... it really shortens that fight with the Colossus. How viable is the Cain for killing the Colossus on Insanity? In my Hardcore playthrough, to kill it from across the map, I had to whittle the Colossus down to about 40% shields in order to weaken it enough for the Cain to destroy it. I imagine that its shields would need to be taken down further on Insanity; but if they go too low, the Colossus goes into self-repair mode unless the player is quite close to it.

Oh, I still go in close... using the sniper perch on the right usually. Once you're in close, it doesn't do any of the self-repair stuff. I have even whittled it down with just a pistol (and Miranda's powers) from that perch (even on insanity) by positioning the pillar between myself and the colossus such that anything it fired would just hit the pillar. The Cain (or any heavy weapon for that matter) just really shortens that process though. The biggest risk is not taking out the destroyer and enough of the other geth around. They will flank you in that position if you're not careful.

Yeah, I could have used it in that fight, I thought the Collector Particle Beam would do the trick. ( In the end it did but the Cain would have been a whole lot better. )

I've never used the cain for that mission. If you have Miranda, she can use warp against the colossus to shorten the time it takes to destroy the thing

The Cain makes EVERYTHING better! Yes, Miranda's warp does a great job on it. Armor-piercing ammo works as well. Heck, I've even done it with just my own Inferno Ammo when rest of squad died and I just didn't feel like reviving them. The truth is that person can take all day to take it down once you get in close... as long as you have ammo, that is, and as long as you used the Paragon interrupt with Reegar so he stays in cover.
