Side missions that you travel to another planet to do whatever do count as well as recruting and completing loyalty missions. dlc's count as well.

You can do 6 missions before the collector ship. Since you're already recruited Tali, and will be recruting Samara and Thane,  complete another mission to give you4. Then go talk with Mordin and Grunt to get their loyalty missions, if possible. If so, head to Tuchanka. When you complete one, go back to the shuttle, to switch to another squadmate, or if you like use both for both loyalty missions. Once back on the ship, the collector ship mission will start
