Indeed but that's what they're paid the big bucks for. They're not getting paid big bucks, and especially not big enough bucks to spend 80-100+ hours a week with no days off for months on end. I was reffering to the company as a whole not certain individuals

This thread... So MUcH PAraNOiA.
As been pointed out, previous Bioware games went gold approx 3 - 4 weeks before release. The truth is out there.

or a possible delay to April or May which I would/wouldn't mind I don't think they'll delay any moer the games already been delayed once and now they've locke4d down a release date it would be foolish to change that. I don't think they will either but we've seen it happen to other games the past few years. I hope/think they really want this to be a superb come back for the franchise after the backlash of me3's ending. They know they have a passionate and large fan base. And EA is releasing this. They are also the ones to release their two huge FPS shooters (Battlefield and Titanfall) within a week of each other. Both are great games but I don't know what to expect with EA

Sounds kinda strange no? Should it have gone gold by now? Some games don't go gold until a month before launch. My guess as long as it's gold before the end of this month, there should be no issues.

Both are great games but I don't know what to expect with EA I think they do too bu tusually once a date is locked in they don't delay again if they were still working to a window like say Spring/Summer then yes they can delay then as people will more likely understand that the games hit a snag but not normally once an actual date's been given once the date's been locked in that's it. It goes then any work that hasn't been done by then will have to be done in patches.

It's still a gross exploitation of human resources that shouldn't take place. Everyone in the industry knows it happens; they deal with it because they have no alternative to not dealing with it. Same thing with a lot of industries, but that's a topic for another thread.

In my case it was tough due to my diasbility but I understand how tough things like this are. I'm grateful to them as well though as Bioware has developed a lot of great games in recent years and I'd like to think MEA will be another one. Judging from what I've seen so far I'm impressed anyway.

Mass Effect 3 has gone gold on February 13th, 21 days before launch. Dragon Age: Inquistion has gone gold on November 3rd, 14 days before launch. This. (and actually DAI was 19 days ~10/31>11/18) So assuming 20 days out: On or around March 1st.

This happens with other games too.
Horizon Zero Dawn for example only went Gold last week I think on the 31st, and that's out end of this month, on the 28th, 28 days between Gold and launch.
Even if Andromeda doesn't have a 28 or 30 day gap between going Gold and launch, it doesn't indicate anything, like others have said, Mass Effect 3 and DAI had 21 to 19 days between Gold and launch.
I'm expecting it'll probably go Gold in and around either the end of this month or the start of March.

Going gold seems to have lost its significance in the digital distribution age though. The only reason why it even exists is because Sony & Microsoft impose deadlines for printing the physical copies of disks for the consoles -- and neither does this mean that the game is ready and complete by the time that happens. The now traditional, inevitable 'day one patch' is just the developers trying to complete the game for real, once they've sent something in to appease the console manufacturers.

they only offered 3 different coloured endings, red blu or green. there was no gold. Actually, there is a little-known, very hard to get, super-secret ending choice featuring ALL THE COLOURS. Literally In all seriousness though, there is also refuse, and if you go by the primary colours, it's... yellow, which is like gold, right? Mass Effect 3 has gone gold on February 13th, 21 days before launch. Dragon Age: Inquistion has gone gold on November 3rd, 14 days before launch. Confirmed: ME:A goes gold March 14th, 7 days before launch. The trend is clear! Joking. I know you're joking, but I think that would mean it would be gold on the same day the EA Access people get their early access. Cutting it a bit close? Going gold seems to have lost its significance in the digital distribution age though. The only reason why it even exists is because Sony & Microsoft impose deadlines for printing the physical copies of disks for the consoles -- and neither does this mean that the game is ready and complete by the time that happens. The now traditional, inevitable 'day one patch' is just the developers trying to complete the game for real, once they've sent something in to appease the console manufacturers. Yeah, I was going to say something similar. Going gold doesn't mean a whole lot anymore. Basically it's just the cutoff date where the publisher needs to start printing copies, whatever the state of the game currently is. It doesn't mean it's bug-free; quite the opposite, and for some infamous titles, still contains game-breaking bugs. There is still going to be a day-1 patch, and many later patches (hopefully), which might even contain new features, not just bug-fixes, so it's not really "done". Also, I'm okay with them getting the game into as good a state as possible, with the least amount of cut content as possible, even if it takes longer or gets delayed. I've waited 5 years... I can wait a bit more

I wonder if their reason for being silent on Twitter today is because they are working their asses off to prepare to go gold. This is prolly it. Bit of a note : Programmers hate day 1 patches as much, if not more, than we do.

The now traditional, inevitable 'day one patch' is just the developers trying to complete the game for real, once they've sent something in to appease the console manufacturers. It may have lost some significance, but not all. In other words, which are they gonna do? Hold three separate games for XB1, PS4, and PC and then try and fix all of the issues once they eventually come up? In other words, if they tried to continue to fix the PC distro before it got released (because they know that most copies of the PC version are going out digitally), they would still have to hold the other two back because they are not going out digitally. So, that would just create a huge mess. Much much easier to say, "Okay, the game has gone gold... Let's work on non-platform specific bugs."
