Going gold seems to have lost its significance in the digital distribution age though. The only reason why it even exists is because Sony & Microsoft impose deadlines for printing the physical copies of disks for the consoles -- and neither does this mean that the game is ready and complete by the time that happens. The now traditional, inevitable 'day one patch' is just the developers trying to complete the game for real, once they've sent something in to appease the console manufacturers. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
CDs, DVDs are pressed, then go to a "printing" machine to apply the authorised label on the unit surface....did some business with them. You should hear stories about copyright violations..... and even reputable mass DVD manufacturing companies got caught because the Is and Ts were not properly vetted.
