Overwatch

So far I'm at 3 wins/3 losses with 4 placement matches left to go. I am more hesitant about doing them at the moment. I'm hoping after a little while, most people will be placed and I can get on teams that will be all the same skill. Maybe that will be helpful. Maybe it won't.

I want to do my placement matches but I feel like I should do it in a group with my friends.

My worry is that there is a limit on how far apart the skill ranks can be to play together so that you don't have a platinum tier player carrying a bunch of Bronze players and just wiping the enemy team. Which is fine but I'm the only FPS veteran in my friend group and as a result, I'm a fair bit better at Overwatch than they are.

So I'm thinking if we do it as a group, my skill rating should be closer to wherever they place so we can actually play together.

Plus they play a lot of tank and healer, so I get to McCree all day every day.

I had a SUPER awesome, lag-infested competitive game last night. It apparently was affecting 2 out of our 6 team members, but we definitely lost. It's amazing how if 2 people don't (or in this case, can't,) pull their weight in competitive that the team gets steamrolled.

I use Genji sometimes (usually if the enemy team has a bastion that is giving us trouble), but I'm not very good at utilizing him to his full potential. Really like his character design! I do fear his ultimate a lot, and I'm glad they shed a couple of seconds from it.

ALTBOULI I had a similar experience yesterday - fairly low level (around 50-70) but played like they were at least level +200 (this was also QP). We managed to win, but it was very close. A very intense game, quite frustrating at times though because of all the turrets (we didn't have many flankers so I had to switch even though I'm not very good at flanking).

From time to time I get matched against levels <50 (I'm level 300+) and from the complaints I don't think they are alt accounts. Mostly it's a low level stacked with a higher level friend. There are also cases where there are even lower levels in my team to balance them xD Also some are people who played a lot in the beta or something so they keep their MMR from that when they start (though those are less usual now).
Honestly after you hit like 70 or 80, you'll find out that level doesn't matter. I'm level 300+ and I'm a scrub. I see silver players that are not better than me and level <80 that are better than me.

I kinda wish blizzard didn't show the levels. The only comments I get are flamers who are like "you don't have a life" or worse: "for a level 300+ you are so bad you should go kill yourself". I don't really take any pride in having played a lot. I just enjoyed the game and I play a lot. I don't pretend to be skilled or to have an interesting life xD


Totally unrelated, here are some POTGs from my latest session.

Nah these guys were all between level 6 and level 12 so there wasn't 1 players who was a lot higher level. Maybe they were beta players like you said but from the way they played I got the feeling they played together regularly. I kind of wish I recorded that match now, i'm more surprised than annoyed tbh - watching these really low level guys steamroll us was a shock

Heh, I try it sometimes. Haven't played that map in awhile though.
