Assuming she doesn't get nerfed, learn to play Zarya. Once you know how to use her shields, she's an absolute monster who can survive a long time, dish out a crap ton of damage and is never bad pick on any team or map. The PTR patch notes have both her barriers being nerfed by 20% right now. Which I imagine it going to hurt her a decent amount in normal competitive play. Not sure about top level tournament play where she's one of the most picked heroes right now. At worst, I think it will make her less of an offensive threat but her kit is still too good to pass up IMO. If she does see less play all round then it's Winston that will get hit hardest. He's so much harder to play without Zarya covering him.

I like getting better That's really all I need. Playing with friends for shits and giggles in quick play is an extra bonus Playing with a good team/good group of friends makes Overwatch a completely different game. I found the game boring initially when I was playing on my own, really enjoying the game now though. Ive hardley even scratched the surface in terms of Mastering all the characters so there's plenty to keep me entertained There is no doubt that playing with friends makes the game more enjoyable. But that can be said about any game - or pretty much any given situation. If you connect 6 friends on Skype I am sure they are going to have fun somehow. Overwatch does the same on the social aspect, while it manages to keep you busy performing extremely repetitive tasks. Don't get me wrong, it is a good game. I was pretty hyped on the beginning. But the lack of variety hit me really bad after some time playing it. Granted there is a difference between playing a very limited kit and mastering a very limited kit, but unless you are a competitive player who plays on tournaments or at least publish your videos on Youtube or Twitch, what is the point? Well, perhaps the issue is just me. Back in May I declined some invitations to be part of competitive groups. I was like "seriously? I got a full time job. I play games at night for fun". Though there is no denying that after a few dozen hours playing Overwatch I am more skilled in terms of FPS-ing - or at least I like to believe so.

I am Overwatch-ed out, and I play with friends that are relatively good. It needs new modes and maps, and at least 2 new heroes. I can only be entertained by repetitive multiplayer for so long without breaking it up with a time sink. Thank goodness for Skyrim tomorrow.

So, I just had the derpiest death yet in Overwatch - I was having a 1 vs 1 with a Diva (sans her mech) and was just about to finish her off when her mech was called and smashed me to death.

Hanako Ikezawa I guess it was only fair, earlier this evening my friend slept a Diva that was calling her mech (the mech just... dissolved) and while she was laying on the ground I whipped out my Mercy pistol and finished her off. Poor girl!

Playing as Reinhardt on Hanamura, I tried to charge from the front lines back to the point but I missed the bell and went off the side.

I am curious on what drives people to playing Overwatch over and over. I am at level 90. On top of that I got to level 42 during the Beta. Clearly I haven't played that much but I find it really tiring and I take regular breaks after playing it for a couple of days in a row. The last time I played it, I saw Lijiang Tower and I had to Alt+F4. The game does have solid combat mechanics, amazing controls, it is very well-balanced and original. But boy, it is repetitive as hell. Playing with a good team/good group of friends makes Overwatch a completely different game. I found the game boring initially when I was playing on my own, really enjoying the game now though. Ive hardley even scratched the surface in terms of Mastering all the characters so there's plenty to keep me entertained That's true, but a good game shouldn't require you to have friends to play with all the time to get something out of it. Most of my friends aren't as good at the game as I am and if I wasn't playing competitive I'd play something else. If I played at their rating, the teams we'd face would probably cause them to pull their hair out. The quick play aspect gets dull and repetitive really quickly. Competitive as solo queue experience would retain it's appeal much longer if they ceased letting premades face with and against solo queue folk. If you use it as something you just put on now and then when you have a 6 stack ready to go then it's great, but for me I play very few games at the time. I'd like to get fun out of my games no matter what time it is and whether or not my friends are online. Currently Overwatch fails to deliver on that front. Hopefully there are more drastic changes coming to the matchmaking and few more interesting heroes, then I would consider it worth the money spent on it. As it stands it doesn't offer much of a progression path for those who desire it. Your progress is largely based on lucky with the boxes or grinding some golden weapons in Competitive. I have high hopes for the future, but as it stands now I wouldn't recommend it as purchase to any of my friends who don't yet have it, unless it comes at a discount.

I'm curious - what are the three greatest sins you tend to do while playing Overwatch? Mine are:
1. Waiting too long to switch to a different hero when things are just not working. (Often I wait to switch because I have an ult at 75%)
2. Waiting too long to use an ult. (Waiting for the perfect moment really isn't worth it most of the time)
3. Playing Mei an sometimes putting up a ice wall that puts some of my teammates in a bad position. (I really feel bad when that happens)

Voice line so that I can apologize every time I cut off my teammates with an ice wall. My sins are bunny hopping and extending myself too far as Reinhardt and Mercy.

If there are two Hansos I make it three, which sometimes ends up in six. 2. I first pick attack hero and then the rest of the team refuses to pick tank/healer? Fine, I don't need good team comp either. 3. Always panic in close combat and forget what "head shot" is. Wait, what? Meis don't do it on purpose? Isn't this the core part of their fun?

A lot of the time I use it almost as soon as I have it. 2. Playing Symmetra when there are already too many supports. I like playing her on maps like Anubis because the teleporter can make a huge difference, but sometimes I just leave the team short handed.

I've had some of my best games with her. Sometimes, however, I do get carried away with her. I go aggro and charge ahead to cause chaos for the enemy team. I have to remember to help protect the objective and the team. Doesn't happen often. Promise. 2. I always wait to see what everyone is picking to pick a character that balances out the team. I don't mind playing any character, but after 5 games as a healer, I give up sometimes. If no one picks a healer, and I'm tired of being one all night, I'll pick what I want to play. I love all the healers, but I like to mix it up. Someone else can be one, or we just won't have one. I'll only do that in Quick Play.

Disagree Overwatch sold itself as a game that is dependent on communication and teamwork. Unlike other FPS PVP shooters you cant simply carry games on youre own. Unfortuantly most pugs in this game are horrible but that's hardly the fault of Blizzard. What drastic changes would you like to see exactly? Given the emphasis on teamwork it would be very tricky to rebalance heroes without breaking the balance. I would like to see more heroes also. The one thing that really annoys me is the lootbox system in this game. If you unlock a skin it should ve removed from the potential drop list, it's very annoying seeing the same legendary skin dropping.

Waiting too long to use my ult, I pretty much alway play Ana and usually try and wait for the right opportunity which often doesnt arrive. 3. I play a very very aggresive Ana but sometimes i'm a little too aggressive and as a result I can neglect to heal teammates a bit.

The one thing that really annoys me is the lootbox system in this game. If you unlock a skin it should ve removed from the potential drop list, it's very annoying seeing the same legendary skin dropping. I was talking about team balances as in players and player compositions not heroes. I'd take all premades out of solo queue to start off with. I uninstalled the game until something along those lines has been done. As the one sided roflstomp matches aren't fun. I've played a couple hundred matches this season, my place on ladder shouldn't fluctuate too heavily anymore, but it does. Mostly due to having teams with different sizes of premade groups. Solo queue seperately, then maybe put two man teams and four man teams together, three man teams to their own, then 6 man teams on their own. Five man teams I'd say to be out of luck when it comes to ranked. I and many others would rather have longer queue times if it meant more even matches. It isn't fun when your team gets 1 premade of two and opposing team gets two premades of three. The level of communication and coordination alone will put them ahead in most cases. It doesn't turn it into complete unwinnable scenario, but it stacks the odds heavily against the team that has smaller and less premade groups in it. It makes the rating drops annoying when you get matched against those odds again and again. Especially with the effect, that causes you to lose more rating if you've lost two or more in a row. One streak of bad luck can set you back a lot.

Wow, some people can't really appreciate support (Mercy in particular). Our team got steamrolled at the first point (I mean, 3 Torbjörn? Really?) and I was quite honestly the only thing keeping them alive (I'm usually not very good, and have little reason to brag, but this was honestly the truth). We got almost team wiped be a combo, I flew in and resurrected 4 players, killed of some players myself, got POTG, had a decent amount of healing done... and got 1 like. I don't expect to be worshiped, but come on!

I don't expect to be worshiped, but come on! That's a shame. Support characters are the people I always vote for unless someone else has like the 3 or higher gold medals since that is impressive or if it is something hilarious.

Yep, always tip the healers unless someone on either side is practically carrying.

I don't get why some people care so much about it.
