I found this out yesterday from an old post on Reddit here. It's the only place on the internet I have found so far that has mentioned it. It's several months old already and I don't believe it is very well known so I thought I'd share it. As some people know, the Dr Pepper promotional items have been made free to download for EA Origin owners of ME2. This is a workaround to enable Xbox, Playstation and non-Origin PC versions to obtain them, but I have only been able to do this on my Xbox . You may need to give up some of your money. The process is fairly simple:
- Create an EA account and link it to your game/gamertag/PSN ID, though I'm sure you have already done this a long time ago.
- Log in to EA's Origin, and purchase Mass Effect 2. It is currently "on the house" at the moment, but I don't know how long for.
- Once you have it, click on the game in your collection and go to "Extra Content". From here, you can select the Recon Hood, Sentry Interface and Umbra Visor. They are now linked to your EA/Bioware account.
- Start up ME2 on whatever platform you play on, go to "New Content Available", download them and have fun.
It was a little buggy for me at first, it crashed when I tried to download the first one then I had the to restart the game twice before the system would recognize them but it eventually worked. You might not have the same problem, just a heads up.
There are a couple of things that sound interesting and have potential, but I haven't tried yet. In ME2 Extra Content on Origin, there is also the "Blood Dragon armour", but whenever I click buy it gives me an error. However, I looked up Dragon Age: Origins Digital Deluxe Edition and it says it comes with the Blood Dragon armour "for use in Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2" which I think enables it to be downloaded for ME2. There is also the Mass Effect 2 Digital Deluxe which includes the Collector armour and weapon, and the Mass Effect 3 Digital Deluxe which includes the collector's edition contents.
It's possible that buying those could also unlock them as well on Xbox or Playstation. The Blood Dragon armour sounds promising, but I'm not sure about the deluxe contents and I'm hesitant to spend my money only to find out it doesn't work.
