.I found Traynor jacuzzi time very awkward, especially since I'm a woman? Like, women don't act like that alone together. But at least someone got to actually use the damn thing. Its better if she's romanced

My Total Military Strength is 5874 My Effective Military Strength is 2937 I think I remember someone saying I need 3250 EMS if I don't want to bawl my eyes out or be pissed off. Never heard of the 3250 thing. Ignore that number Your ems is fine. You have nothing to worry about. Keep doing what you're doing.

Never heard of the 3250 thing. Ignore that number Your ems is fine. You have nothing to worry about. Keep doing what you're doing. Where is comes from... Earlier on this thread - You were saying 2900 or 3200 headed to Earth, depending on what the player wanted to do about Anderson. I was saying 3150 headed into Chronos was absolutely safe territory regardless because of the minimum War Asset you gain on Chronos at 50% (again to allow for the Anderson thing)
Why I recommend checking it before Chronos rather than just before Earth is that, before Chronos, you can still do some things if it's too low... like doing more scanning. Also, it's an easy point to pick out because Hackett tells you that you're effectively committing to the final assault and the conversation gives you a clear chance to say that you still want to do things to get ready. phoray - Despite arguments over the exact details of this... the threshhold number for the best ending right at the ending choice moment is 3100 EMS. There are things in the very late stage of the game that can affect your EMS (either positively or negatively), but if you leave for Chronos (TIM's base) with at least 3150 EMS, no matter what happens after that, you'll still be good for the "best" ending with the EC installed because you will gain, at minimum, 50 EMS on Chronos. In fact, it will unavoidably lock you into the "best" ending for the one particular ending choice you might make. That doesn't mean you won't be able to get that ending even if you head to Earth with only 2900 EMS (i.e 2845 or 2850 before Chronos).

Possibly, but I'm pretty sure the OP is now aware of the Chronos mission since she's done Horizon; and I figured I was being vague enough about the other thing. I've added spoilers to those references. You'll need to erase the quote now too, though. The OP also seems to have had some concerns about her EMS level since the beginning of the playthrough and being unable to check it regularly. She'll still have to make her own ending choices without knowing which ones bring about which results. I agree that her EMS is already sufficient to open up the maximum possible results (other than, of course, the variations that go specifically only with Low EMS results)... and given things she has said in the past, she may or may not actually want to get the "best" result.

themikefest@upupaway95 I don't think Chronos was ever mentioned on the Horizon mission but it's obvious we're chasing Cerberus for a couple piles of information that may help us end the war without a mass extinction event. I'm going to stop worrying about the number. I'm doing all the fetch anyway because some (most) of them are actually Interesting. So, I'll probably get a high number even above the 3250 I was originally shooting for (now, apparently, 3100) In other news, next time I play, I'll see f I can't undo telling Kaidan we're good for smooching. I'm not feeling it, it's too soon after memorial service and especially Ghost Thane. Ghost Thane makes me think his spirit is watching over my Shepherd and I don't want him watching me smooch Kaidan if I can undo it. Then I repeat Horizon (it'll be shorter now I don't have to listen to all the audio logs )

Then I repeat Horizon (it'll be shorter now I don't have to listen to all the audio logs ) I'll have to check my number from earlier... could have sworn I typed 3150, not 3250. Anyway... Chronos is just the name of the planet that is now flagged (after Horizon) on your galaxy map as being the location you're going to to chase Cerberus. Bottom line is that, right at the very end choice (when it needs to be 3100 or higher to get the "best" ending), you can't check your EMS. The second last point you can check it is just before committing to going to Chronos. At that point, if its above 3150, you are going to get the "best" ending providing you make the actual ending choice that corresponds with it. If your EMS is between 2850 and 3149, you can still get that "best"ending, but it's also possible to not get it, depending on another choice you can make earlier on in that final mission. So, I don't know if you want to lock yourself into that "best" ending scenario or not. If you do, go ahead and keep getting more war assets or raise your GR to do that. If you want to leave it more flexible, shoot for a number between 2850 and 3150 (at 50% GR) before heading off to chase Cerberus on Chronos. ETA: Furthermore, if you want to hit 3100 EMS while remaining at 50% GR (i.e. without doing any multiplayer or GAW), you'll need to head into Chronos at at minimum of 2950 EMS (at 50% GR).

Where is this 2850 number coming from? Your 2900 (prior to Earth) minus the 50 minimum EMS you get on Chronos for the Reaper Heart. If Reaper Brain, then it would be 2845 (60 EMS at 50%). If my number is off, it's because your 2900 number in your earlier explanation was off. How much EMS exactly does not allowing TIM to shoot Anderson gain you? If 200 EMS, then 2850 + 50 (reaper heart) + 200 for Anderson = 3100 at endpoint choice.

Got it. I misunderstood you. That is correct if Cronos hasn't been completed yet.

Not unexpected, and understandable. You've played much of the game by this point so you won't get as much romance content with Kaidan anyway (which could make it feel more weird, probably). Might as well save him for another time.

Not sure what we should tell phoray yet but for all others: If she want's to suicide her Shep in the end, does she even want the 3100 to get the breath scene (assuming she chooses destroy)? I'd say the way this playthrough is going, the breath scene would be more detrimental than helpful for her story. Maybe we should tell her that the only difference the 3100 makes is Shepard's (possible) survival. Just my $0.02

Just my $0.02 That's what I'm really tussling with here... trying to hint at that sort of idea without totally giving away the game. I'm sort of relying on the idea that, if she does wind up forcing herself into the "breath" ending, she can still headcanon it being the "final breath" ending and the rest just being the crew holding out hope rather than it being any sort of confirmation of Shep's survival.
If she does leave herself shy of that 3150 mark here now going into Chronos and later decides she doesn't like the "breath" bit, we can tell her then to go back that short bit and just allow Anderson to get shot by TIM.

No peeking, phoray It is still a good idea for her to get the highest EMS possible regardless, I think. It might not be obvious that one ending can lead to the breath but the other 2 are more apparent in making the ultimate sacrifice -- and I believe they each only unlock with a certain EMS score.

Synthesis unlocks at 2800. Control flips over to the "earth saved and squad mates live" at 2650... as does destroy, except for the fate of Shepard, which is what flips over at 3100.
So, with 2937 (I think she said she already had), she can't lose enough by allowing TIM to shoot Anderson to not get the synthesis ending or the earth saved/squad lives control or destroy endings.

the green is available at 2700. Here's more information about ems when heading to Earth and what happens after choosing destroy.

If I knew that Citadel had this much Thane's content, I would have been tempted to purchase it. Nice to know that they put in a lot of material for him there. Ah, well, I still reject BiOWARE's policy on DLC pricing, so.... Waiting to see the ending of the game for phoray I vote to let the ending to come naturally to her :)

According to this site: ca.ign.com/wikis/mass-effect-3/Endingsit's 2800. I've never pushed it that fine to find out differently. I know the EMS dropped from +4000 to +3100 for the Destroy lives ending, but I've never gotten the impression they made changes to any of the other thresholds as well.

Did they actually play the game to make sure its 2800? Or did they just copy what was in the guide? I'm sticking with 2700 since I did three separate trilogy runs to confirm all those numbers in that post I linked

Could it be though the same sort of "difference" re Anderson? These are EMS numbers right at the point of the ending decision, not at the beginning of Earth. Just a thought.
Someday I might make a run within that range difference to see for myself. It's not super important here anyways since she'll get have the green ending available to her regardless.

That said, I don't disagree with your RP. One of the reasons I have a hard time romancing Steve is that he's sol obviously still hurting from the death of his husband. It feels strange to romance someone who is still so emotionally vulnerable.

I will say it's nice to finally have a romance interest for a male PC who has a dead loved one in his past (usually only fem PCs have to deal with the dead wife/girlfriend/crush of days gone by). But, yeah, it's too soon for me too. If it had happened several years before and he was having trouble moving on but finally did, that'd be one thing. But it's only been 6 months, and they are still fighting the guys who killed him (their masters, at least). Way too awkward, imo.
On the other hand, I am having a lot of fun romancing Kaidan with my male Shepard. They are so cute together.

Better? so I didn't play this morning cuz sleep had to happen. I'm on a work study date with a co-worker now.
