I looked up why Wrex was killed and i wouldn't have killed him. One of the few things In Mass effect I wanted to do was save the krogan race so I would have been like Cool, Here's the cure have fun.
My choice to save the rachni queen had benefits.
And apparently I want the colony and the council to have survived for war asset purposes.
An the rest sound like cameo decisions that would be meaningless to me.
So, sounds like I don't want to use the default World state.

Just filling in some things on DMC1001's post - The Destiny Ascension, had it been saved, would be a war asset in ME3. This part I knew. What I wasn't sure of is the amount of war assets. My feeling was that having multiple Alliance ships around provided more war assets than the Destiny Ascension. However, I'm not actually sure. Okay, looked it up on the wiki. Destiny Ascension provides 70 war assets. However, if the Council was saved, we get -75 war assets for loss of Alliance. That's still -5 on balance. If the Destiny Ascension isn't present we don't get any negative war assets as a result. However, the three Alliance ships that would have been otherwise destroyed give us 45 war assets. Sounds to me like allowing the Council to die is the superior option though not one I often choose.

Yes, I also prefer to save Wrex but you can do that in ME1 without giving him the cure. Trust me, you don't want that cure working back then. If Udina is the Councilor you're stuck with, I'd probably save the Council. It will impact your status in one regard. Personally, I prefer Anderson.

OP - With the EC in place, the net effects of the total of these default decisions (+ or -) on the war assets in ME3 are very unlikely to impact the ending of your game overall. If you're playing without the EC, then it is necessary to take other steps to increase your "Effective Military Strength" to unlock all endings anyways. Short answer... it actually doesn't matter all that much.

I agree that it isn't worth sweating the DA choice. Note that there are other effects from the choice. Admiral Mikhailovich can show up, and Salarian WAs change too.

Okay, so, reading directions of the ME2 controller mod. I'm barely a user of DA2 mods so I'm not super experienced here. Installation
Install order: Game => DLC => Launch/Login to validate DLC => ME2Controller => Custom textures
1. Copy the BioGame directory to your Mass Effect 2 install directory overriding the originals (Back them up first). Example directory : D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect 2
Is it telling me that I'm going to be deleting game files important to the game functionality? Can I just put them in a different folder and the game will just not talk to those other files because it's not the correct path? I find this weird, because the mods I'm used to just...override DA2 files, and I'm not deleting anything about the game. So I'm leery of destroying a game I paid for. or is it that if I mess up, I can just uninstall and redownload?

Yes, just store the originals somewhere where you can restore them to the game folder if needed. (Don't delete them entirely!) Or, you could even append ".backup" to the filename and leave it in the same folder, but backing it up elsewhere untouched is probably easier. If you royally screw up, you can re-download and reinstall, or see if Origin has a "fix install" function somewhere like GOG Galaxy does.

Here's the general tip I mentioned. I remember asking on a previous page whether the save editor would fix this issue, and the answer was no, so hopefully this will be helpful. Decide whether you want your Shepard to be a paragon or a renegade, and then make sure you stick with it. Meaning...let's say you want a paragon Shepard. Then make sure you take every paragon interrupt (you'll learn about this game mechanic in an early mission) and choose paragon dialogue choices when available -- don't pass them by for neutral or renegade dialogue options. Some renegade interrupts are too cool to pass up no matter what, though Not doing this won't destroy your game, but it will complicate things later if you want a perfect ending, trust me. I didn't know this at first, and I had to make some...compromises I still got a decent ending thanks to loads of help from some nice people, but I intend to go back and "fix" this worldstate later with a new playthrough.

I think that's terrible advice, actually. Passing all the dialogue checks isn't worth outsourcing your RP decisions to the P/R meter.

I think that's terrible advice, actually. Passing all the dialogue checks isn't worth outsourcing your RP decisions to the P/R meter. That's your opinion. I did tell her that not following my advice wouldn't break her game, but it will undoubtedly complicate things, as I said. You can dispute whether or not it's worth "outsourcing" your decisions, but you can't dispute that not having high enough scores will lock you out of more and more choices as the game progresses. This is fact. I wish I'd known at the beginning of the game that P/R would have such a big impact on my ability to make decisions later on, because then I would have done some things differently to get the outcomes I wanted. Furthermore, I asked her in a different thread whether she wanted a general tip, and she said yes. She can follow it or not, her choice, but at least she knows.

I remember this from teh first game. I didn't have enough points in either and got interviewed. My boss complained that I gave a lackluster interview that sort of made them look bad because I could not choose either Paragon or Renegade dialogue choices. and was stuck with the lame choices on the Right. I tend to play classic hero on the first PT, no killing, save everybody, do all the side companion quests. So, I'll just say I'm going to be paragon. Although, is it like DA2? Diplo HAwke saved the elves/werewolf scenario. Aggro Hawke got some specific choices too. But you could change your personality as it progressed. So maybe I could be paragon at teh start and get all those dialogue options, then get the freedom to make some Renegade choices without hurting my 80% paragon lifestyle?

When you're starting your game in ME2, you lose out on getting any of the P/R bonus points that you would get with an ME1 import, so it makes it just a little more difficult passing some of the real important P/R checks in the game. If you're going to use a save editor, then you might as well also use it to add in those 190 points in each side to make it work as though your file was imported from ME1. You could also add in the bonus credits you would normally get and start yourself out at a higher level. The import bonus are described on the Wiki page: masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Save_File_Transfer

dragontartareSo when it says to copy the biogame directory, does it just mean the whole BioGame Folder? Or take it's contents, it has: Config, logs, profile and screen shots? all four of those? two of them? It's weird, I remember the DA2 mods coming with clearer directions in a little text file.

I don't have a controller to test with, but I'm downloading the mod so I can compare it with the game folder. Edit: Ok, so my game directory has more files than what is in the mod, but I think if you just copy the entire BioGame folder and tell it to override files with the same name, you should be fine. Again, back up the original folder first!! Make a few copies and put them somewhere safe Then, after you've copied the mod, peak into the folder and compare it with your backup to make sure all the files are there. Actually, what version of Windows are you using? If we have the same version, I don't mind trying to install the mod just to verify the instructions. (Again though, I can't test that it actually will work.)

I can verify that, at least on Windows 10, if you just copy the entire BioGame folder into your game directory, it will only overwrite the files with matching names (25 of them). The other files will remain intact.

dragontartare So then there will be two config folders? --- no... it wants to save over files. So I told it not to replace same named files. It looked different. It crashed. Returned it back to normal. It loads correctly. Edit add: So just throw the whole Biogame Mod Folder into Mass Effect Two Folder and let it make switches? Edit Add: Joy of joys. Since starting this mod adventure, my computer started randomly turning off.

Tell it to replace the files in the destination.

Are controllers really worth the fuss? It is the difference between playing ME2 or not playing ME2. I have carpal tunnel and my hands are already tired and cramping from the mouse and keyboarding I've been doing to interact on the forum and fiddle with the cursed mod.

dragontartare I finally asked my roommate to come look. Turns out I was in the Documents Mass Effect Two but not the actual Install Directory. But I messed too much stuff up. Just did a repair and restarted my computer. let's see how it goes. Edit Add: Repair didn't work. Now I have to download all over again. Says 90 minutes. If the mod crashes it now that I've figured out hwat the problem was, I'm going to have to give up on ME2 again and go straight to 3.
