Isn't that just about killing as many people as possible though? I just want to be able to let JAcob die in ME2 and shoot Ashley in ME3. I wasn't really trying to kill everyone o-o

What class(es) are your Shepards?  If you have regen yourself and you find a First Aid Interface, put it on Kaidan.  You can also buy a First Aid Interface from Dr. Michel on the Citadel (and I recommend doing it ASAP.  If you don't have regen yourself, then you'll want to get the highest level one you can afford for yourself.  Beyond that, putting points in Kaidan's Barrier skill will help keep him going as well.  If your squad powers are set to auto or to "Defense Only," Kaidan will activate his barrier whenever he's under attack (as frequently as the cooldown allows).  There are also mods and even ammos that can help shorten cooldowns.

You don't have to kill everyone. Since you want only Jacob and Ashley dead, send the volunteer in the vents and let a squadmate shoot Ashley during the coup or do it yourself.

I get what you mean, I wasn't able to get into this locker because I'd used all his points on Barrier with my Vanguard shep. I was probably more even handed on my Infiltrator Shep so had no prob opening lockers.

In other news, I didn't have enough Renegade to get the info out of the Farmers. What a bummer, I figured I wouldn't need Renegade points until I got to the Citadel and/or that I started with enough considering my Earthborn Ruthless history. *pout*

Ashley is glitching in that she keeps remaining way way way behind even though I keep ordering her to be next to me :/

In ME1, the NPCs frequently get stuck by other NPCs or other bits of cover and even the mako.  It's really a good thing they don't need a line of sight on a target to use their powers on them.  You may find it better to put their squad powers on  "Defense Only" so that they don't blow their entire wad of them at the start of each fight and they won't be on cooldown when you decide you need them.

One way to keep Kaidan alive, is to order him to stay behind cover at the back of each battle.  You won't benefit from his shooting, but it'll keep his powers available to you to use (even though he doesn't have a line of sight on the enemies).  I'll still resort to that tactic if I'm running low of medi-gel.

Also, you can fill up on medi-gel in the med bay on the Normandy before going onto any missions.  On the Citadel, you can fill up in Dr. Michel's clinic.

It's pretty hilarious how RenShep tells Anderson the Council isn't going to do anything and that reporting to them especially about his vision, is dumb.

Then everything he says comes true. Anderson had been so optimistic.
