I used the WEbsite save but must have clicked the wrong button cuz I thought you guys said I could remake my Shephard and rename them even with an import save? The intro: Firey red planet makes me think of The Planet Char from Star Craft. I turned on subtitles. I snorted in laughter when I saw Miranda was talking to an "illusive man." With the Cigarette, reminds me of who Fox Mulder was going after in X files. On top of that, Miranda's speech about Shepherd reminds me of Cassandra's speech about Hawke. Ships getting blown up. Guess that explains the "normandy crash site" I downloaded. Kaidan was there and I ordered him away. Felt dramatic. I'm liking this head canon that I have liekd Kaidan all along but Shephard didn't realise till this moment... not that it matters, he's not in 2. So, she'll have to distract herself with other men. And juuuuust as I was going after Joker (haha, I missed the stairs and I have no way of knowing where to go so I ran back and forth twice before seeing them.) My computer restarted. How nice. I had the exact same thought! The Cigarette-Smoking Man... The part where you're suddenly in space and can hear your breathing over everything else was pretty darn cool So there I was thinking... Wow. There is no way Shephard survived lack of oxygen and a crash from space. How they going to make her live through that one? They didn't, she totally died, and they somehow remade her. Crazy stuff. is 4 Billion credits a lot? I went from liking Miranda ( I know she's straight) to not liking Miranda at all. Also, I said I may not leave with them and she acted like she didn't care. Which contradicted her statement before that I was the only reason any of this was happening =mega important. Also, they didn't actually let me try to refuse to leave. SO I made an empty threat to go save civilians I guess. Jacob's alright, I'm meh about him at this point and I just saved before going to talk to Illusive Man. Even funnier they actually call him that. Jacob vouched for my fighting skills and I laughed. my version of aiming was run straight at them shooting. By the way, Where is the Black Emporium of Mass Effect 2? Looks like I can cut paper with these cheek bones and the red in my hair isn't red enough. With my Shepard, I moved her eyes too far forward (??) in her head and her eyelids started clipping, which I didn't realize until I was at a point where I didn't want to replay everything. Looks pretty bizarre in flirting scenes, let me tell you. She grew on me, but it took a while. I do like her ME3 version. If you don't feel like going back to start over now, you will get a chance to tweak when you import Shepard into ME3.

dragontartareI am tempted to remake. I haven't done anything but the tutorial prologue at this point. I went out for canned air, made a lasagna, realized I can't open my computer without breaking warranty, conferred with the roommate. he doesn't think it's the temp anyway and did a "memory test" and updated drivers and... I dunno, he's been clicking away for like an hour testing things. Uninstalling things I don't use. For being broken, it sure isn't obvious why it's broken. It's passing all the tests.

Okay, I'm going to remake my shepherd while it's doing a spyware scan. Then AVG is going to do a DEEP scan. But roomie thinks it was drivers and that updated drivers should have fixed it. *crosses fingers*

Not being able to skip scenes kinda bites.
#first world problem.
Also, can't save right before Joker to at least skip that way is also a bummer.
Wish the writers would just let CC creation not be part of the story.

I ended up laughing. The computer has begun to restart in a whole new way with a blue screen and everything.
Found on YouTube that it happens due to updated Nvidia drivers.
On top of that, the game is back to cloud syncing and not doing anything
I'm winning the computer life over here.
At this point, I will not give further updates until I actually can play the game. 4 pages of troubleshooting does not a Let's play make. So, Haitus till then guys.

dragontartareI did roll back teh drivers. So, now it's not blue screen restarting...at least so far... but the weird Cloud-sync-then-nothing demands nothing less but a total uninstall and redownland. I removed the mod- no go. I repaired twice-no go. So, 90 minutes from now, I can find out if I can attempt to remod and go from there. Roommate says as much time as we've spent, I should just go buy the game. But that doesn't stop my main desktop computer that is only 10 months old from malfunctioning, nor do I have a PS3 with me. It's back in Kentucky and I am quite cozy here in California.

I would turn off the cloud syncing thing in Origin. All it does is upload your save games to the cloud so if you lose them on your PC you can get them back. BUT space is limited and if you accidentally hit yes instead of no, it can replace all your current saves with whatever was uploaded way back when.

I have a Mass Effect 2 game Icon on my desktop. Clicking the icon insists I log in to Origin, even though I shouldn't need to to play. If I try to launch from the PLAY button inside Origin, it Cloud syncs and nothing. When it functions, both the Icon and the Play button don't say anything about cloud syncing when it works properly. Short verion, I tried both and I wasn't telling it to cloud sync, it decided to do that on it's own.

Aw, sorry phoray. Cloud syncing is a different option than the one we told you about. I didn't even know that cloud syncing can mess up like that. There's a separate option to disable it in the Origin settings.

Base Game download complete. Computer restarted as indicated. I'm going to turn off cloud sync, as melbella suggested... Except literally everything is off already. "Origin in game" is off. So is automatic updates. And most everything else just for funsies. Let's test turning on game with no mod.... Nothin interesting under Spoiler except my irritation.
Have nothing better to do but type my blow by blow.
*clicks desktop shortcut--waits and nothing happens* *Click Origin from minimize state... Nothing happens.* *Restarts computer and login to Origin again*
Let's Backup newly downloaded files again for good measure in case the last backup got corrupted by AVG or Spybot- done
Looks like there is still DLC stuff to download, but it told me earlier to restart. Waits 5 minutes and Wonders if all this content is worth downloading 4 times in a row---
The unexplained black screen restart happens again. Curses mentally quite a lot and kicks air.
Waits some more, goes to log in, machine restarts again. And again And again.
I unplugged it entirely.
It's a bit sad to me, I should technically be 20 hours into this game at this point. If I mail the computer back to Newegg for under warranty fix, won't they keep it for like, weeks and weeks? Ugh, what would I even play? @_@ all my Dragon Age is on this computer. The other copies are on the PS3 states away. I just finished TW3 and am so not interested in playing another round of that just after the first one. my only hobby has been outright crippled! I guess I no longer have a reason to put off my writing. And I could get a head start on studying for an exam in August :/

I have no idea about Newegg. Sorry this is happening to you, and I hope you will like the game once you finally get to pay it. Did anything else change before all this started, other than trying to install the mod? And how long are you away from home?

Did anything else change before all this started, other than trying to install the mod? Nothing. And I found out from husband today on Skype that it was actually happening before the Mod, he just hadn't thought to mention it. So, with that evidence, it's not even mod related= no virus in the mod. All I have is a PS4, a Chromebook, and a a severely limited interest when it comes to video games. My husband's are many states away and my work friend doesn't have the same days off as me. Bah humbug! Don't go back to Kentucky till nearly May.

phorayDrats. Sorry it's going pear-shaped with the PC. My guess is that the random reboots are caused by a problem with the power supply. You mentioned that it is an external device? If at all possible, try to borrow another one and see if the problem persists. That's all I can come up with right now. Alternately, try to deactivate the automatic reboot on error - Windows may actually give you an error message then instead of just rebooting and making you guess what went wrong. How to deactivate this option depends on your windows version.

It then went into a restarting cycle for a few minutes before shutting down. So, I did all of that second part already. I'm re "installing windows while keeping files" now. And relaxing for sleep. Looking over there, it's at 50%. Can fiddle a bit more in the morning. I want to thank you and everyone else who has given me troubleshooting tips. I love this forum and 8 different people have now helped me with game, mod, and computer problems.

Oh, I agree, it is a nice service. The problem with it is, you can't have it on for only certain games - it's either on for everything or off for everything. And I have A LOT of saves on my HD.
[hmm, should probably look into backing up some them like I did for DAI ]

GileadanIt's 10. But I tried that last night, Held Shift down while clicking Restart. Then ADvanced options->Settings-> Restart/F9 to disable "restart from error" It made it go into a black screen for a solid ten minutes, so I pressed the power button after that. Checked the BIOS/UEFI but it didn't have anything interesting to say although the temperature looked like a nice 57C So far this morning, it's been on about 40 minutes. I backed up everything on my desktop, which is where I store things I care about (yay, don't have to Download all the mods I use for DA2 again, they're already all organized). I've downloaded Chrome then Origin, then told it to redownload ME2. That'll all happen while I'm at work. No way of knowing if reinstalling windows helped, because even yesterday it would be fine for hours although the restart cycling got particularly bad at the end there. I'll change settings to "never" turn off/go to sleep and if it's on when I get home? Good sign?

phorayA random black screen then? Interesting. If that ever happens again, check if the computer is frozen of if it's running and the screen is just rendering black. For example, you could press Alt-F4 - Enter to see if your computer will still shut down. You might have to try several times because if you're in an active Window, Alt-F4 will close that first. And yes, if it's still on when you get home that would be a good sign, especially if the reboots/black screens happen totally at random and not during times of heavy load. If it were memory related, we would know by now because that produces blue screens.

I dunno if it was frozen vs providing a black screen how could one tell the difference?

You can try what I said above, hit Alt-F4 followed by Enter a few times. If the computer is not frozen, it will shut down and turn itself off, meaning it still registers keyboard input. If it is frozen, nothing happens.
