Or possibly a submarine.
Update: in the video below there looks like a vehicle symbol on the compass at the top of the screen. Not sure if this is for another "drivable" vehicle or just a possible drop off/pick up point by the Tempest. Just Speculation

I still like the idea of us taking part in a cutscene/dialogue-driven space battle at some point. Think the opening battle of the Suicide Mission, except instead of it changing based on how well-prepared you are, you're prompted to make command decisions as Ryder - 'Auxiliary power to aft kinetic barriers!'/'Full-axis rotation to starboard, fire all ventral GARDIAN lasers!'/whatever fits the actual situation - and the actual battle scenes, then ultimately the outcome of the battle, change based on those decisions.
Basically, you'd be simulating your average Star Trek space battle, cutting between the bridge and the actual action.
(also moar space battles plz this is what i live for)
I'm into this idea for a few different reasons. (Even past the obvious Trek-influences. ) First off, as games go it'd be unique to Mass Effect, moreso than a standard space dogfighting sequence anyway--I've been waiting to see a mainstream game capture the feeling of a good Star Trek space battle forever. The closest we've come is probably Bridge Commander, and even that didn't quite do it.
Beyond that, it'd also probably be less resource-intensive to implement than a full on space combat system.
I've been getting a lot of use out of this post...
A version of the Hammerhead that doesn't fall apart if the pilot sneezes too hard. Wheels are pointless if we have the tech to hover without being too fuel intensive.
I'm just gonna quote myself from a previous thread on this topic:

So....I really like this idea and went ahead and posted the text below in another forum group to discuss. I think it would fit perfectly. The only thing I would change is have everything from your point of view at the front of ship instead of cut scenes unless absolutely necessary. And the decision prompts would almost be like Quick Time Events but with four dialogue options or commands. 110% support this idea. Bravo
Considering that everyone wants space battles in Mass Effect Andromeda and the likelihood of that happening seems slim, I wanted to present the idea of doing something that would fit in current play style of previous games.
Instead of taking control on the ship directly, I think a good compromise would be simulating sequences similar to what you see in Star Trek. Ryder acts as Captain Kirk giving commands to your crew real time.
Your Command console/Galaxy map is at the front of the ship next to the pilot now so you can see everything play out. Again, Ryder has a set of commands for the salarian pilot and he steers the Tempest accordingly. Instead of giving us cut scenes, you see everything real time from your post at the front of the ship and prompts with new decisions based on your previous decisions will appear as a timed event. I.e. you make decisions like slow down, circle back around, jump to FTL, dive down, etc.
The ship can even take damage based on you decisions which may lead you to giving commands to other crew members like extinguishing fires, sealing off part of the ship, etc.

A vehicle with a gun AND amphibious capability, would expand the range of exploration we could do if we could cross rivers or other bodies of water(picture an alien archipelago where we can ford from island to island at our leisure).
Given that we are going to a new galaxy so far away from home that we can never get any help from there, I would like to have an expedition fleet that can defend itself appropriately, and the option to give orders to it from my bridge.

A Mech of some sort. Something larger than the Atlas.
maybe a mech (inside a mech, inside a mech, inside a mech, inside a mech, inside a mech, inside a mech) the size of Andromeda Galaxy which would clash in a final battle with Milky-Way mech.
The Polish Phoenix. I also did the official Biotic Mastery alternate banner with Deerber as the model.

I would make the tempest a little bigger so it could hold a small drop ship in its belly. Said drop ship is armed and carries an armed NOMAD personal carrier.
This has several HUGE advantages over the original design:
* Should the drop zone go hot the armed dropship can defend itself when deploying the NOMAD * The NOMAD can defend itself and support the fighting squad with heavy weapons * The dropship can aid the ground squad with aerial reconnaissance and fire support * Thanks to the dropship you no longer have to put the valuable Tempest and its crew in danger because it doesn't have to land on the planets * The dropship can pick up the NOMAD or the Squad and give it a lift over natural obstacles * Redundancy. Should the drop ship be destroyed you can call the Tempest to pick you up.
So we have the awesome new tempest and Nomad, but if you were game designer, what vehicles or vehicle concepts would you add to the game and why? This can be the vehicle models themselves, their capabilities, the missions to acquire them, the mechanics of using other vehicles entirely, etc.
For me, I would add a customized mech that can be dropped from Tempest whenever you need it. Mechs are already in the game as enemy type. You can customize it with paint like the Nomad and customize the weapons, armor, and abilities for it.
I would want at least one water world like the Leviathan DLC, but I would need to spec my mech appropriately to steer through the water.
Or possibly a submarine.
Why use a Mech?
I never understood Mechs, their advantages aren't big enough to cover their disadvantages
Ok, for me?
Let me desing a Vehicle that does well on land, in space and in extreme atmospheres and under water (I'd take the Kodiak shuttle as a base, add some tracks, add an airlock (exposing the interior of your shuttle to hostile atmospheres is never a good idea), make it larger, give it some heavier guns and give it more armor (not just to take enemy fire, but to take extreme pressure and heat))
There you go

I thinking more on the lines of the power armor in Fallout 4 where it gives you a new play style. You're now this tank with rocket launchers or Gatling lasers that also has a jet to hover above ground or allows you sprint faster knocking over enemies. You could customize it with propellers or jets to make it traverse under water. I was thinking you could jump out of you Nomad and summon it from the Tempest. All of a sudden the mech drops out the sky like the equipment pods. Since we already have a land vehicle, it could be the hybrid for vehicle combat. I just don't want it to be slow. PLus they already have them in the game as they did in ME3.
Ha that video just made me realize that I'm def naming my female play through Sigourney Ryder. And my normal male Ryder playthrough's space revolver will forever be called sigourney weaver

Well, power armor? Ok, better than a full on mech with a cockpit etc. - I like Fallout-Power-Armor (I admit: I liked it more before it became a fucking Mech...the lore doesn't support that at all!)
greetings LAX ps: Orbital drops? Yeah, that would be nice (drop in some support robots (like those security bots in ME2!) etc.? Yeah, I'd love that...I'd love orbital bombardment and airstrikes (the Kodiak is armed, so why not use it to lay waste to enemies?) as well

Yeah I wouldn;t even mind the cockpit as long as it enhances your speed and makes you more of a tank.
Yeah orbital strikes like in Battlefront would be amazing.

Exploration aircraft/shuttle fitted with sensor to detect lifeforms, power signatures, metal/resource deposits for mining and for detecting buried structures. Add light armour and plasma canons to clear out the LZ. BF1 already has the aircraft code so flight mechanics and craft re-skinning for a ME look is trivial (I would use a modified shuttle design for this purpose as opposed to a "regular" one.). Advantages are obvious and as a DLC prop, it will add new game mechanics.
Custom painting limited to areas such as the front, front left , front right and front bottom. Paint style like the head of a Thresher Maw or any large predator or abstract colour scheme is permitted. Other ideas welcomed.
Today, the studio has no excuse for avoiding a flying shuttle where we can pilot it.
