So, without getting too political (I do not want to face the wrath of the moderators ). Would you ever have a long-term romantic relationship with someone with who you do not share the same political view? I wouldn't mind myself (except if they are a bigoted jerk of either side of the spectrum), and I didn't think too much about it until a friend of mine said I was crazy for thinking so . Nope, that would be utterly impossible. I can't and don't even want to be friends with people who are on the opposite side of the political spectrum. At least you're brutally honest. But even if there are things you agree upon ? Or if he or she is a moderate adherent to an opposite view ? Grey area ?

GENERALLY SPEAKING... Even if you're on opposite sides of the spectrum, something like 50-75% of your values are compatible. GENERALLY SPEAKING. That said.. I will say when I see stuff like this: It makes me just about throw up in the back of my mouth. Nah, it's often like 10-20% similarity in general ideas, ethics and hobbies (maybe 35% compatibility max) and I don't even waste my time for a single date in such a situation. Being considered a heretic and a non-atheist doesn't help at all as well. Everyone is too autistic with his/her faith.

While y'all are being polite and respectful, the conversation has grown political. Please move on to something else.

But even if there are things you agree upon ? Or if he or she is a moderate adherent to an opposite view ? Grey area ? Well, you can have a lot of things in common even with your worst enemy, that is nothing uncommon at all but this does not make him or her less of an enemy though. But as I mentioned, I assumed the worst case scenario of my partner being of the opposite political spectrum. Grey area sure is much less dramatic and I can probably be low-key friends with those, but for me similar political views is one of the essential things that make a friendship. As I said, I cannot be friends with those that actively seek to change my way of life and my future into something I don't like at all, its that simple. ( No disrespect to the moderator post, this post was not political, I was merely discussing the impact of politics itself on friendships)

How shitty is your diet? I mostly eat grains, meat, add some dairy in the form of cheese and chocolate milk, as well as mild to moderate amount of junk food. A close friend of mine is insisting that I improve this with fruits and veggies. I would think, so long as you aren't unhealthy physically, you shouldn't need to change a thing. If your not over/under weight, your don't have a high blood sugar, cholesterol, ect. there should be no reason for you to change your diet.
As for my diet, I eat alot of salts. I'm trying to cut back, but it is not easy. This is my food diary for today: And you can see how I'm getting all my salts.
Overall though, I'm not sure my diet is un-healthy. My single limitation to myself, is calories. This has helped me deal with fast food, sugar, and other cravings. Heck, I've even held onto cravings for a few days, until I could set aside the calories to fulfill them. I only need to keep myself under 2k calories a day, and I'm considering cutting that back to 1900.
Also how do you know/make sure your not turning someone into a rebound partner? I'm attractive/interested in a guy, but I don't want to turn him into a rebound. He doesn't deserve that. At the start of my break up I was tempted to start a relationship with him, but refrained out of respect for him. But the more time has gone on and the more time we've spent together, the more attracted I am to him. And this guy is the same guy who is insisting I improve my diet.
As for this one, I think you should try to figure out if you love him or lust him. If the psychology videos I'm watching on youtube are accurate, lusting someone is purley physical. And once that physical attraction fades, your not really interested in whats left. If, however, you actually love someone, then you are both each others best friend.
So you need to figure out which he is to you. And if your just looking to feel validated, or if your looking for something more. And the only person who can answer that for you, is you.

The Krogan and I tend to have similar views, though sometimes we approach them from different directions. For those areas where we differ I find that we balance each other out nicely...keep each other on an even-keel so to speak.

So how much you're gonna sacrifice just to have a pet?
Imagine: 500$ a month, some destroyed furniture, carpets and books, poops everywhere, probably losing potential gf/bf when she/he can't comfortably even sit in your house, spending hours every week taking care of the pet.
A baby can do such damages the first year or two in a small scale, probably most cats and small dogs and birds aren't too much trouble too, but having jaguars, eagles and mastiffs in the house is beyond me.

Because you're right, keeping wild animals as pets is generally a bad idea, but at least where I live it's also illegal so it's not really an issue. Big dogs aren't necessarily more trouble than small ones, depending on breed and individual temperament. Although they certainly do cost more to feed!
If a pet is regularly destroying your stuff and pooping everywhere, it has a behavioural problem that needs to be addressed. None of the cats or dogs (or rats or fish or reptiles) I've lived with or been closely acquainted with has been anything like that much expense or trouble.

I recommend dropping those cheerios for your breakfast and instead eat oatmeal. You may want to cut down on some snacks as well.

Having a beaver for a pet is definitely hazardous to one's household..

When your surrounded at every cubicle intersection with treats. Thats on top of my food...I guess addiction would be the best way to describe it.
There are days, when I go home with just enough calories for an 80 calorie yogurt for dinner.

There is nothing wrong with taking a snack every one and then, however you'll want to focus on healthy snacks. Sugar is really the enemy most of the time.

My dog for the most part is very well trained, except when it comes to chewing ocasinally. Although, she was far worse in her puppy years and has tamed quite a bit in that department. A good workout and bone solves it now. Most of her bills now comes from medical problems but I find her love worth it. She would probably die defending me and I'd do the same for her. The little things she's chewed here and there are replaceable but she is not.

My diet these days is surprisingly pretty spectacular... and I can't even take credit for it, because it just kind of happened. I lost all interest in fast food, chips, chocolate bars, all the tasty and unhealthy things I used to enjoy... And I really did enjoy them, even knowing they weren't that good for me. But at some point that changed, and they just don't taste good to me anymore. I honestly don't know why. They even still smell good, especially stuff like fried chicken and french fries, I just don't want to eat them. I'll eat wholegrain bread, good cheese like cheddar and those weird smelly french things, beans, lettuce, assorted fresh or boiled/fried/baked veggies. I still do love dairy in all forms, be it milk in my coffee or yogurt/kefir/buttermilk in my morning flakes (wholegrain flakes, not cereal), eggs, whatever. I count myself lucky, I have no cravings, I enjoy my meals. When I want something sweet I eat fruit. When I want a snack I'll eat some raw nuts. As for my partner... I'm not someone who'd police someone else's food choices. Then again, the guys I've connected with so far were all somehow into fitness in some way. Maybe it's fate..

What do you think of romantic relationship where there is an age gap of at least +5 years? Both are consenting adults. 5-7 year difference, not bad. I prefer no more than 5 years though...but then again, I guess it depends of the age of the younger person, anyway. I'm not much of a fan of 30+ year olds chasing after 18-19 year olds, but that's just the mother in me talking.

What do you think of romantic relationship where there is an age gap of at least +5 years? Both are consenting adults. Personally speaking as a bloke in his early 30s, i'd have no qualms with the notion of seriously dating a gal 10 years or so younger than me and settling down (both my grandfathers and my dad would approve). Now an age gap in the other direction, well, i wouldn't say no off the bat to dating, but the settling down and family respecting aspect prospects are.... problematic. And in terms of an outside view, i'm not all that concerned about others' age gaps in relationships.

What do you think of romantic relationship where there is an age gap of at least +5 years? Both are consenting adults. It depends on how young the younger person is and how large the gap in maturity is. The older the younger person is, the less I care. I would judge a thirty-year-old for dating an eighteen-year-old regardless of the fact that it's completely legal. But on the other hand, a thirty-year-old dating a sixty-year-old? Eh, not my problem, they can do what they want.

My aunt married a 27 year old, when she was 18. Those two are doing amazingly well. Though they got married before colored photos existed, so...maybe thats the era they grew up in?
Even still, so long as both are adults, and there's nothing bad going on (forced emotional dependence, manipulation, abuse, ect) folks can live their life on their own terms.

What do you think of romantic relationship where there is an age gap of at least +5 years? Both are consenting adults. Somewhat depends on the age and your plans for the future. For example if you are a 40 year old man, have a relationship with a 45+ year old woman and you do want a family - well, I'd say in this case thats suboptimal planning and age does really matter here, heh. Personally, I'd never want a serious relationship with a partner that is older than me. I'm 30 now and I find the gap between my 30 year old self and 35-37 women to be absolutely GIGANTIC, in every conceivable way. Also what does not help is that my body seems to age slowly (for now), I look significantly younger than most men my age. It seems the age difference rubberbands a little, which means at the beginning (18) the difference of 5-7 years does not seem very big, in the middle of the road (30) the same age difference starts to feel bigger and bigger but later down the road it somewhow shrinks back.
