Don't forget tossing a baby in the oven and the awesome woodland spirit mission where your choices give some pretty unexpected outcomes I agree but you highlighted a feature that goes both for and against Witcher 3's great quest design: That awesomeness right there is exclusively in the cutscenes. The actual quest is the average "use witcher senses, have dialogue, combat" quest, and that's become an argument against other devs trying to mimic what TW3 "did well", but personally I think you just highlighted why that mostly doesn't matter because we remember this stuff because there's always cutscenes and interesting characters to behold. Right. In reality, CD Project Red just copied other game mechanics and applied them well to the Witcher 3. (In most cases) The Witcher senses is the same as Detective vision/eagle vision. The small towns and the ability to get quests from the bars/inns/notice boards were done in Skyrim and even Red Dead Redemption. The random encounters and mini games were in Red Dead as well. The dialogue trees came from bioware and bethesda games. It's all about execution, and its easy to see the dedication to make something special vs. just copying successful features.

no more borng exploration walking huge maps to find shards or fragments I'm sure that's still there. Maps will be big. There will be collectibles. Even Witcher 3 had it. That's less of a problem, it only becomes a problem when that's pretty much all there is to sidequests, like in Inquisition.

I read most recent stuff and so far I think it will be going from planet to planet, and on every planet there is a bit of main story, but every planet also has it's own story. Like a Star Trek episode. Or like in SWTOR. I liked that approach.

But in SWTOR the planets' stories almost always have to do with the big war going on, and I think in ME:A that will be less

Like a Star Trek episode. Or like in SWTOR. I liked that approach. I liked that too because it was an MMO and it's designed to have many "important" player characters so there's no arc specific to the planets that tie into one specific protagonist's arc. With Andromeda being single player I hoped each planet would have a story that ties into the overall arc or the themes about colonizing humanity, which it still can but I'm under the impression that half of it will be random stuff like "Planet 3 is about a serial killer and the law enforcement looking for clues" or something.
