The 1st for me , but I was more immersed in ME2 and what with the graphical upgrade and more custom options for your Shep. ME1 was my first ME game that I played so gotta stick to it !

ME1, for the following reasons:
1) The idea of humanity still trying to find its place in this galactic society, with Shepard playing a major role in that, is more consistently integrated into the missions and the dialogue. In ME2 this comes up here and there, but since Shepard is commanding a pretty low-profile mission, his/her actions won't have as much impact on this. In ME3 everybody's on war footing.
2) Because not everyone knows who Shepard is in ME1, we get more of a look at the galaxy going about its business and interacting with Shepard as they would any other soldier or Spectre. In ME2 the interactions are often shaped by "you're the human who saved the Citadel" and "aren't you supposed to be dead?"
3) It probably had the fewest incidents where Shepard was railroaded into doing or saying something I didn't like, or where none of the dialogue choices fit with what I actually wanted to say.
4) The shipboard dialogues with Kaidan and Ashley were a little more detailed and extensive than most of the Normandy conversations in ME2 or ME3.
5) The "investigation" aspect of the Feros and Noveria missions is something that I'd like to see more of in games. Even action RPGs don't need to have shooting and swordplay all the time, and ME2 sometimes seemed like they were reaching for an excuse to throw in more combat when it wasn't always needed. (Thane's recruitment mission is perhaps the best/worst example of this - "Hmmm...just trying to find an assassin in a tower might not give the player enough to do, so let's have the security staff just happen to start murdering all the other employees right when Shepard turns up!")
6) It's the right way to do an open-ended conclusion - the immediate threat has been vanquished, but the Reapers are still out there and we know more are coming.

Mass Effect 2 is my favorite. I think it struck the best balance of role playing and pacing, story and exploration. I like the characters, the combat is okay (a vast improvement from ME1, but not as awesome as ME3), and the Suicide Mission alone is worthy of every game award the game ever got. I also felt that the Mass Effect universe really game alive in ME2.

3) It probably had the fewest incidents where Shepard was railroaded into doing or saying something I didn't like, or where none of the dialogue choices fit with what I actually wanted to say. Though I will say that it almost loses this title for "machines can be broken" - one of THE WORST lines in the trilogy, IMO. I almost always spacebar so that Sovereign just interrupts before Shepard can say anything.

I picked ME3. There were some reasons I wouldn't put ME2 as a favorite. I felt it deviated too far from the overarching thread of the three games and put Shepard in the hands of the enemy. That is, I consider them the enemy based on my experience with ME1. Then, there's also that I couldn't continue my romance from ME1 - I don't romance Liara so that makes it impossible to continue what I did have in ME2. I felt a sense of camaraderie in ME3 that I hadn't seen at any point prior. Also, I liked combat in ME3 more than ME1. Finally, my BroShep could romance Kaidan in ME3, which to me is the best romance I've ever seen in a game. Sure, the ending has some problems, but my headcanon sweeps it neatly under the rug and I'm just fine. Also, I play on PC and am not above using MEHEM to alter the ending.

Mass Effect 2.
Fine balance of being broken enough for mods... And actually having your efforts impact something in the end other than your faith in the trilogy. Also I can pick who dies, that is flat out awesome.

ME1 and 3 are more or less tied with me. 1 because it was the first, and I felt most connection to the characters, Saren was the best antagonist of the series, and everything flowed so well. 3 because all the stories tied up nicely, the combat was far improved, and it was the most evolved of the trilogy.
ME2 is my least favourite. There are plenty of things I like about it but lots of things I despise with a passion. Of all the ME and DA games, ME2 is my least favourite.

Definitely that mobile game they made that nobody ever played... Infiltrator? I wanted to check it out, but it's no longer available. Once found it and put it on my phone but the phone I had at the time couldn't handle it. Later, when I got a better phone, I tried to find it again and ended up with a virus instead. So, yeah, not playing it.

I really enjoy ME1 though the gameplay isn't that interesting. Felt very cosmic, new and large. Music was amazing. Talking to Harby on Virmire and Vigil on Ilos was so epic for me. ME2 didn't have those "wow" moments as much.
But, ME2 had better character development and I really dug the loyalty mission and improved combat. So my order is ME2, ME1, ME3. And, I enjoy ME3 as well. Ending doesn't bother me as much, i've accepted it. I'm just sad the series is over (well, the trilogy.)

I'd have to go with ME2. I have to say i really enjoyed the finale battle when choosing your squad for certain parts because for me it really mattered who I chose,it was a true life or death situation. For the first time it felt my choices truly mattered my crews lives were in my hands I weren't going to let them fall no not on my watch. (There may of been other times but I can't quite recall atm) I enjoyed the story and the characters we got to meet and have part of our crew.
That alone kinda sold it for me being a favorite by a little. There are so many other aspects that I enjoy from the other 2. The Citadel DLC...God damn that was absolutely fantastic that has to be my absolute favorite thing from Mass Effect...Maybe I'll change my answer to ME3 just for that haha.

For me, each has their respective pros and cons.
ME: Story, villain and world building ME2: Character development, Loyalty Missions and overall better level design (Suicide Mission!) ME3: Combat* and atmosphere (They did a great job capturing the scope of a galaxy at war.)
Slight asterix for ME3. The overall improvements were good but I did find they went too far on the God Mode Shepard spectrum. ME2 felt more challenging whereas ME3 you could break the combat so easily. Still, it felt less stiff to play by comparison. ME2 wins overall. There is just too much to love about it.

The overall improvements were good but I did find they went too far on the God Mode Shepard spectrum. ME2 felt more challenging whereas ME3 you could break the combat so easily. Still, it felt less stiff to play by comparison. Currently being near the end of my first ME3 Insanity run, I'd agree 100% that ME3 is easier than ME2, though I've only got this far by cheesing most of the game using the Adas I think part of it is due to ME2 being more difficult than necessary, it seriously punishes the player for being out of cover, and the Collector ship is just bonkers. I barely made it through that on Hardcore, I have no idea how I'd do it on Insanity! I agree about ME3 feeling less stiff. ME2 combat might have played a bit better if Shepard had been able to dodge.
