Could someone give me a good reason why Europe gets the game later than North America?

It's because the European version is more expensive (€69.99 for the DeLuxe version, which costs $70.00 in the US. Some minor calculus using the €-$ exchange rate teaches us, that Europeans actually pay $4.1894 more for the exact same product!) So, our version is more expensive, which is why we'll get it later.

So what? I don't see any connection between release date and price. Explain the logic of this statement, please. The game is sold at different prices in all countries, and there are only two launch dates, so why do you think price and date are related?

There isn't really a good reason, but here's an at least interesting look at how it ended up like that: www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-23-why-are-we-stuck-with-games-being-released-on-a-fridayAnd let me nip this one in the bud: what stores do still matters in the age of downloads. Visibility at retail matters for people buying games who won't necessarily be playing them (parents, relatives) and more casual gamers. Piss off retail, lose the shelf space to someone playing by their rules.

I still don't see why the rest of Europe should suffer? It just pisses me off, that BW couldn't even be asked to include it as a pre-order reward for those who prefer digital distribution

That'd just piss off retailers and EA would run the risk of having said retailers pull all of their games from their shelves. Simultaneous releases and abnormal release dates typically take place near the holiday shopping season because Christmas is enough of a reason for retailers to adjust the way they sell and release new product because the consumers are more flexible and won't care. March isn't a major shopping period, so retailers are less flexible.

I don't get this thing about fridays the same way I didn't get the connection between price and launch date stated above.

Friday in that article is basically just because it's by a writer for the UK edition of Eurogamer, the same reasons apply to mainland Europe and thursdays. It's a whole lot of "that's just how it's always been" mixed with "don't piss off retail".

So what I should infer from this is that we are stuck with this garbage, and there is no real consumer pressure to change the status quo? Sigh. Well, thanks for replying, peeps

I'm not all that bothered by the delay, it's something I've gotten used to. What I'm more confused/mad about is why retail is cheaper than digital (talking Standard Edition here) when common sense dictates manufacturing a physical copy (whether there is an actual disc or not, you still get the box and all the labour that goes into it) should be more pricey than digital download...

Its total bullshit. EA is one of the few publishers left who still does this.
Almost all AAA games these days have world wide release dates.

Don't know you but for me it's the Friday release, the one that makes most sense for a consumer perspective. After work/class you get your copy of the newly released game just before weekend to play it on Saturday and Sunday. I'm not bothered by this delay and in truth I wouldn't have time to play it reardless before weekend even if they adopted the US release date.

Neither am I as I'm going to go dark and stay away from places like this as from the start of the early access anyway until I get my hands on the game and do that first playthrough. I'm looking forward to it but I know what to do to avoid unneccessary spoilers.

There isn't a good reason, especially in our digital age. But they're reasons we continue to deal with regardless, unless you're on PC where you can get around it.

Because politics. They don't want to step on the toes of retailers by offering cheaper prices. While digital is on the rise, retailers still carry a lot of weight. Eventually, that will change.

Could someone give me a good reason why Europe gets the game later than North America? Just buy the game on Origin for European price for your region. Then use VPN and connect to US server, start downloading ME:A, exit VPN, finish ME:A download. (unless you already pre-load ME:A sometime after Match 17st). March 21st start VPN, start Origin, launch ME:A, stay on VPN if you want or disconnect (shouldn't matter after you start the game). There ya go, you play on March 21st. EA shouldn't care when you start the game, as long as you purchased the game for the price which is applicable to your country (due to tax/legal resons ect.).
