Found an article from back in November and surprised to not see a thread about it (or even much discussion on this topic) www.tweaktown.com/news/55047/mass-effect-andromeda-seamless-space-exploration/index.htmlIf you would rather not clink on the link, The article states: -Unlike the previous Mass Effect games, Mass Effect: Andromeda will have a seamless non-interrupt feel to it thanks to current-gen PC and console hardware, meaning gamers won't have to sit through tons of loading points through their interstellar adventures. (Yay!) -Sitting down with GameInformer, BioWare recently confirmed that Mass Effect: Andromeda's player ship, the Tempest, would be a seamless space within the game. That means the Tempest won't have any pesky loading zones as players explore and navigate through the different layers of the ship, with even planet exploration and even spaceflight travel being re-worked to feel much more immersive.-The Tempest's bridge will serve as the main hub for the ship, and will be the nexus for missions and the like. Rather than going to a galaxy map to select locations, players will be able to look through a massive window aboard the Tempest and select nearby planets to explore. BioWare affirms that the entire exploration process--selecting a planet, flying to the atmosphere, and landing topside with the [Nomad]--will feel much more streamlined and fluid, with minimal loading sequences. -"Now, it's so much smoother to be on the ship, land on a planet, jump around, go inside a building. It's all very seamless, so breaking down the barriers frees up the player to explore and do activities. It makes it easier to make a rich and full environment. -Harold Chapot, Technical Director Cheers

Now show it to us in some damn game play footage!
But not manual flying. Just to clarify.
Sadly, players won't be able to actually fly the Tempest. The ship will be manned by a salarian pilot this time around, who will zoom around the stars at Ryder's command (similar to Joker in the original games). "Part of what made it hard is, we had debates about whether you should be able to manually fly the Tempest all the way around," ME: Andromeda creative director Mac Walters told GameInformer. "Ultimately, we had to say 'Not in this game.' If you try to do too many things, everything starts to suffer. But we had working prototypes of that, and it was compelling, but it wasn't compelling enough."

I never minded loading screens or elevators that much, but it will be nice without them.
I'm glad we aren't having to fly the Tempest ourselves. I think I'd get tired of it pretty quickly. Fly the Tempest, drive the Nomad. Drive some more back to the Tempest to fly it somewhere else. Just seems "meh" to me.

Inb4 they took it from SWTOR and tweaked it so it looks kinda unimpressive.

Well I didn't know this, nor have I viewed the gameplay info threads due to not wanting to be spoiled by other aspects. So thank you for information OP. Less loading screens is always welcome in my book!

I'm not really getting the opposition to this thread, but I've said this since I played ME1, that I like the idea of the game that's kind of a simulated reality, where everything is a 3d model to scale to everything else and where it takes as long as it takes to get from point a to point b based on the models relative sizes and speeds, but not when you also have to wait for loading screens. The elevators were a grey area for me, PC had mods for fast elevators because their loading screens took 2-3 seconds instead of 20-30. I can handle either the realtime travel and enjoy the scenery or I can handle short loading screens between gameplay, but it is difficult to deal with both especially with multiple play throughs. I'm looking forward to the new system.
edit: yeah, I get this isn't exactly new, and has been talked about on the forums before, just don't see anything wrong with consolidating opinions of a given feature in a single thread. I had assumed colony building was confirmed and already talked about but now there is a thread for it that is very active, there is a thread for suggesting any new features people would like to see but there is also one for suggesting features that use the omni tool specifically.

yet no thread existed Because it was already listed in other gameplay info threads. Well, if a Mod can merge the appropriate threads together, I'm okay with that. Otherwise let's leave this open for people to discuss how they feel about the new system. As a new member myself, I searched the forums and either the UX isn't great or I'm too impatient to find the material. Either way, I thought it might be more efficient for new users and the uninformed to have an easy way to read this information. Personally, I'm pretty excited about being able to go from one world to another seamlessly and in a way that feels like a Star Trek movie. Although piloting the ship would be a cool feature in future games as an option, I hope they further enhance this feature first. The manual flying could have you in a copilot seat with Kallo Jath to take over whenever. This could eventually play into future space battles and even VR.

Welcome to the forums and yeah, the search system is meh, so I don't blame ya. I think the ftl jump (I think that's what you call it) in the 2015 E3 trailer is a good reference point for what they're aiming for. It's not going to be exactly like that, of course, but it gives a decent idea of what to imagine. It's clear that this "seamless" travel is something the team wanted to emphasize from the start, so I can understand why personally piloting the Tempest took a back seat. Not that I mind too much, since piloting isn't a big deal for me.

In Game Informer, they said they they have a system built out for manual flight that's pretty awesome, but it would require more time to fully implement while achieving their main goals. I would be okay with DLC that adds a new feature entirely as it gives a reason to reply the game. They can introduce it with new story content or just new missions that work in the mechanics.

I'm looking forward to walking around the Tempest without any loading screens. The Normandy in ME3 was really good but the loading screens kind of broke the immersion a little. It will be nice to feel like I'm on a real ship.

Most of my lurking, of late, has me saying to myself, "The new arrivals are discussing the same stuff we picked to death months ago." So, for the most part, my near forum-hibernation continues, awaiting actual news to discuss. I remind myself that all of the new arrivals are keeping the community afloat while deadbeets like myself can't be bothered to discuss the same old things. It's been great seeing that new faces are contributing so much to the traffic. (Welcome, ladies and gents! I look forward to getting to know all of you.) Once the "familiar faces" emerge from prerelease blackout, we should have a booming atmosphere. I don't really have much else to say. I just got a chuckle out of this. It's good to see you and a few other "old friends" still on here regularly. It makes me feel like you're keeping a place warm for the rest of us. I'm trying to become more active, again. BioWare could really help out by releasing some new, discussion-worthy data.

I couldn't leave if I wanted to (and I actually kind of want to lol). I gotta have my Andromeda fix, even if it's from reading blathering bsn discussion. I'm gonna have a problem when it gets closer to the week before launch, my intended going dark date. And yeah, I've been a bit confused lately at all the "new" information cropping back up that I could've sworn was already picked apart months ago (no offense, OP). But that's to be expected I suppose, with all the newer members. I've heard that more meaty stuff is going to be shown this week or next week, so that should justify your brief break from hibernation.

They talked about this months ago but "seamless" is starting to feel less real the closer to launch we get since the haven't shown anything that proves this
I'm not even expecting much from this rumored upcoming 15 minutes of gameplay tbh

I think your title is inaccurate. Should be "Seamless Space Navigation". Not exploration. Unless something has changed, the last I heard is that we won't control our ship other than to pick a pre-set destination. While we'll be able to move around the ship while in-transit to our destination, we can't actually explore space.
