I usually do default outfit for ME2 - I've tried Spacer outfit before, it might be growing on me. For ME3, Battle Dress then N7 Jacket for Citadel. How about you? Also which did you prefer for male/vs female?

I hate the casual outfits in ME2, mostly because I don't want my guy wearing Cerberus clothing. That's why the first thing I do is Kasumi's loyalty mission so I can have him in formal wear all the time. In ME3, it depends. I change it to alternate Alliance wear. The one with the gold band in it over the blue. No camo pants, either. When not on official business, Shepard switches to the N7 jacket. I do like the hoodie but not the pants that go with it so I don't wear it often. I like the above because it has that gold trim that sets Shepard apart from the rest of the crew but it's not formal Alliance military clothing - like what Hackett wears.

While it tended to depend on whether Shepard was on-duty or not in Mass Effect 3, I tended to choose the hoodie because it was a nice hybrid between casual and on-duty: it seemed casual while at the same time made it look like Shepard was always ready for action because their on-duty clothes were underneath it.

My F!Shepard wore the rolled up sleeves ones, and my male the one with the brown vest. It gave him cool arms. Don't remember any on the female list that looked as good on her. Would have loved cargo pants and double tank like Starbucks in BSG....

ME 2 I wore the Lab coat or the Cerberus jacket/coat thingy. for ME3 I wore the Alliance Navy officers jacket. It would have been cool if the uniform had gold bars like Admiral Andersons' but meh small detail.

Kasumi suit in ME2 (before I got her I wore the generic scientist coat- made my Shepard seem thinner lol). Like others have said, I'm not working for Cerberus, they're working for me. So I don't represent. ME3- N7 Jacket. As above I'm not really Alliance anymore but I am N7 for life. Plus leather jackets are cool. For the final battle I do put on the dress blues as a show of solidarity but that's about it. I think the game switches you to it anyway but I mean I will manually switch for that reason.

ME2 - Brown outfits that don't have the Cerberus logo for both genders. ME3 - Outfit they show Shepard in on earth, not the default they change him/her into the first time you go to the Citadel. It's still an Alliance uniform short of full dress blues, but still not identical to the uniform worn by the rest of the crew. As a result, it distinguishes the commanding officer from the rest of the people serving under him/her. For the Citadel DLC, I switch up the outfits depending on who I'm meeting and where. Examples: For Javik's, I will wear the uniform he/she normally wears on the ship... just so he/she looks the same as the stunt double in that meetup. For Joker's in the casino, he/she just happens to be wearing his/her dress blues. For Jack, it's the same badass merc outfit, he/she wore in ME2.

ME2: First thing I do after install is to mod the biogame.ini to give me all the casual outfits. I then usually use the black variant fo the default outfit. It kinda looks like just normal black clothing and since Shep is kinda freelance now, it makes sense to me. For more formal occasions, such as going to the VIP section of Aferlife during Samara's LM or when inviting Liara after LotSB, I wear Kasumi's clothes (I mean the formal wear from the DLC, not her actual clothes ). Same thing with the ini edits. ME3: I tend to change it a lot. When on the ship between missions, Shep wears the default or the engineer version. When going to fist fight with James or hanging out in the Citadel appartment, it's the more casual hoody. When having formal meetings like with the quarians or during the Krogan-Salarian Summit, it's a dress uniform. When meeting Aria for the Omega DLC or just strolling around the Citadel, it's the N7 Jacket. I also really like some of the casual clothes the modders created, such as this one for femshep:

In my first playthrough, I stuck with the defaults. In my second playthrough (NG+ with the same FemShep), I went with the science uniform in ME2 and the battle uniform in ME3.
I'm mulling a third playthrough, creating a new Shepard with a different background and psych profile, and thus a somewhat different personality, who might be more amenable to working for Cerberus in ME2. If I go that route, she will wear the Cerby officer uniform in ME2, and probably dress blues in ME3.

Thanks all, you confirmed a hidden problem I had with most of the casual outfits for ME2 - they mostly have Cerberus logos and yeah - I don't work for them.

At first I was using the default Cerberus casual outfit, but that did not last long. ( Killed to many of them in ME1. ) so I then switched to the brown casual outfit. But then I found a webpage containing some tweaks for the Coalesced.ini, and one of them allows you to get the blue casual outfit from ME1 ... and since then I use the blue casual out fit from ME1. * No need to mention that you should use the INI fixer afterwards ... or is it. Add the blue casual appearance from ME1
* Find CasualAppearances=
And then add this line after the other four:
CasualAppearances=(Id=4,Type=CustomizableType_Torso,Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_CTH_R.CTHb.HMM_ARM_CTHb_MDL",MaleMaterialOverride="BIOG_HMM_ARM_CTH_R.CTHb.HMM_ARM_CTHb_MAT_1a",Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R.CTHb.HMF_ARM_CTHb_MDL",FemaleMaterialOverride="BIOG_HMF_ARM_CTH_R.CTHb.HMF_ARM_CTHb_MAT_1a"),PlotFlag=-1)

For Shep? The only casual outfit I ever liked was the hoodie and pants. And the dress for the casino stuff, but that was a special occasion. I don't like Cerberus clothes on principle or space fashion in general. It all looks bleh.

Totally depends on my Shepard. I ended up being really fond of the rough-looking outfit you start with in Vancouver in ME3 though. I used to think it looked ugly but it makes Shepard look kinda tough.

In general it depends on the Shep I'm playing as to what I think suits them. One might be a snappy dresser, or indifferent and use the standard outfit or maybe like to look more formal, etc... (I actually only just recently realized the scientist-y one in 2 doesn't have the Cerberus logo, so I might use that more often now.)
However, I hate the dress+heels for femShep so I never use those in either game.

I have only femShep and it's not a dress for ME2. She's military and even if she's not on an Alliance frigate, she's commanding a warship on a hazardous mission, travelling into unknown dangerous territory where a seemingly innocuous situation can develop / escalate quickly into the red. The ship and crew operate on military priorities / regulations, discipline must be maintained. Although I didn't like the Cerberus uniform, I used it on her and pretend there's no Cerberus logo. Honestly, it's a stupid dev oversight to think Shep wouldn't just get some military-like clothing or a shipsuit of her own, that she would happily put on a Cerberus uniform.
For ME3, the N7 jacket though I want to put her in the Alliance uniform but I didn't like the style and the lack of appropriate uniform flashes / ship patches.

I almost always just stick with the default fatigues. It seems appropriate for a military commander on active duty. Running around the ship in civilian clothes never looks right to me.
I switch to civvies for the first part of the Citadel DLC mission, when I'm going to meet Joker, and then again when I'm running around the Silversun Strip talking to friends.

I kind of prefer the default in both games, especially the one in ME3 (yes, Cerberus logo in ME2 sucks, but I don't care so much about it). But like some here do, I dress my Shepards according to what they'd like and let them dress up for some occasions. More than half of my Sheps like the default in ME3 for example, because it makes them one of the others, one of the crew, just a soldier like them. Other Shepards I had like to dress up sometimes. My MShep who romanced Jack wore the leather jacket when meeting her and other friends, and I had a bitchy FemShep recently who wore the dress at the end when talking to Jacob And she was proud of her position, so she wore the formal uniform in ME3. On my first two runs I didn't really care about such things, but it honestly is quite immersive to do stuff like this.

For ME2 it is the default Cerberus outfit. There isn't much choice for ME2. And I don't get why we have options for Cerberus lab or doctor uniforms. Something like Jacob or Miranda's outfit would be nice.
For ME3 I like the N7 hoodie.
