It wasn't a big deal when DA and ME were linear. But boy playing through Inquisition and that god-awful Forbidden Oasis where I would be frustrated just figuring out how to get to a shard/landmark/rift and WORSE with the Frostbank Basin Ameridan quest makes me realize...hey wouldn't it be great if there were a GPS system where I could just know what path to follow to get to that thing?
And yes the option to turn it off should also be there for those of you who like "immersion"

Only if it comes with different celebrity voices That would be cool. Choice of different voices, perhaps including some from ME1-3.

Only if it comes with different celebrity voices The more salty and disimpassioned, the better. I guess something like this could, theoretically, make a bit more sense in MEA than in a game like DAI. A GPS requires a lot of tech in the sky, but we already carry a lot of science fantasy around with us in ME. A functional GPS would barely register in the minds of most. I think it's better to explore and discover without. I also assume that the level designers for MEA won't be smoking the same crack that the DAI designers were smoking. I navigate it just fine, but damn, The Hidden Oasis is silly.

Depends on the design intent. DA:I's areas were about mastering difficult terrain. It wasn't an accident that it was difficult to find a route in the Oasis.

If it works anything like real world GPS does around here, there's about a 50% chance it'll just tell me to drive off a cliff.
However if it does it in Morgan Freeman's voice, I'll be accepting of this feature.

But, we know nothing about the areas we explore, so how would we feed a GPS-receptor? Or do you steal an Andromedan one right at the start?

I'd settle for some sort of topographical map of the area, which scanners onboard an orbiting Tempest should be able to provide.
And a compass, so I can monitor heading directions.

I think that it would be even better if the player would not be required to press any keys during the navigation parts. Why Nomad shouldn't have an autopilot? Have automatical navigation and driving be a part of Narrative difficulty level.

A game I played called The Crew had this feature, it made navigating the open world in that game a lot easier.

I think this would be the best solution. Having a topographical map in the Forbidden Oasis would have eliminated the frustration of reaching a quest marker, only to discover that the objective was actually 50 feet above/ below you. They could go a step further and give us a 3D rendered map of the area that we could rotate. Now that would be handy.

If they don't do it from the start, then I hope at least while we're exploring we're mapping and uploading the data for future reference. So if we don't get everything the first visit, we can go back without wandering around for hours trying to find that strange blue mushroom we didn't pick up last time.

Only if it comes with different celebrity voices I have this in my car, and I'd happily swap it for a version voiced by SAM.
