I've been assuming that we'll have three squadmates with access to biotic powers, since we know that (a) there are at least 6 companions and ( the two known biotics, Cora and Peebee, don't appear to be pure 'adepts' (whatever that term might mean now). At the risk of this question being answered as early as tomorrow, who else do you think will have biotic abilities? My initial thought was Jaal but after seeing him with a Garrus eyepiece and a sniper rifle I jumped to Drack. A pure biotic Krogan would be cool and being a Shaman could have explained the whole bones thing he's got going on. However Drack's profile has gone live and unfortunately he sounds like a pure soldier, just for something different... So now I'm back to thinking Jaal. Of course, I could be way off base and there might only be two.

Yeah, I'm kind of stumped on this. I heard that the devs have confirmed that our squad will all have traditional classes.
We know that Cora is vanguard and it sounds like Drack might be a soldier. Pee Bee would have to be either a Sentinel or Adept. Both Vetra and Jaal have the tech gear and Liam has an engineering background. So what is the set up? I would assume that, with such a small squad, they wouldn't overlap classes and leave others out, so I'm guessing there will be an ME type squad where everyone gets a different class.
Liam - Infiltrator Cora - Vanguard Pee Bee - Adept Drack - Soldier Vetra - Engineer Jaal - Sentinel
But that seems off. I'm stumped!

Peebee definitely has access to tech skills (eg invasion) so I've pegged her as a sentinel. But where did you hear that the companions will have the traditional class setups?

We're pretty sure Peebee has tech powers, so that would make her our Sentinel, wouldn't it? Vetra's modified assault rifle and power armor would lean me toward Infiltrator, and Liam would be our Engineer by default and background. Maybe Jaal's a pure biotic sniper like Thane, but I dunno if that fits what we've seen of him. I'm still not one hundred percent convinced our seventh squad member was cut, and this definitely gives me a reason to stick with that - could be we can't figure out the Adept because we haven't met them yet. I mean, I guess it's possible they had an adept but cut them and didn't bother to shift the other roles around to accommodate, but that seems kind of unlikely. I don't buy that Cora and Peebee are our only two biotics, though - if one of them was a pure biotic, sure, but as is the party balance is way off. Gotta be something else we're not seeing yet.

Jaal could be biotic sniper if we are going to have another biotic besides Cora and PB, he is too colorful for pure infiltrator And Drack isn't completely unlikely to be partially biotic either, trilogy made it seem like biotics are common among krogan warlords or more powerful krogan (Wrex, multiple battlemasters in 1 and 2...)

According to the character descriptions on the official site Vetra has tech armor... so she's likely a sentinel. On that basis I'd say it's a good bet she has biotic and tech powers.
Jaal is probably an Infiltrator as non of the other characters look capable of that. Liam has Havoc strike which is not exactly a good fit with Tactical Cloak or Sniper Rifles. PeaBee has Invasion which is a tech power.

Do think it's unlikely we'll get 2 Turian female biotics in a row though, as that just seems incredibly lazy.

On Nyreen Kandros we've only have 1 single Turian female in the original series and the fact she was a sentinel with a biotic power is less lazy more of a coincidence. I don't really mind what they give her. Personally I'd quite like her to be a Cabal with Poison strike but that might be too similar to Liam and Cora.

I'm confused now about biotics. In the new trailer Liam had a tech visor over one eye, so did Jaal and Vetra has one too of course. Would that make all 3 tech?

Wait, Eezo is prevalent in the Helius Cluster? Is this confirmed or just an assumption? Neither, it's just that it would have to be true for Javik to be a biotic. So if you're voting for Javik then you're effectively making that statement, at least in my head Thanks mate but i think you meant Jaal. Still I'm not sure how to feel about Andromedans having biotics. It's the one advantage with Milky Way Peeps have. To see it gone would be...unsettling to say the least.

Liam - Engineer Cora - Vanguard Drack - Soldier Vetra - Infiltrator Peebs - Sentinel Jaal - Adept
This of course is all in the sense of which of the three (biotic, tech, combat) that they uses. Not actually their class, except Cora, she's a vanguard.

I've seen people have this issue before and I don't get it. Eezo is the most potent resource in Mass Effect lore. Not only would andromedan's want to harness that power but any alien race that grew up around it would have biotics (asari). Also without andromedan's using biotics it would make our own biotics weaker by proxy. If all the andromedan's are running around with shields instead of barriers it would be pointless to use biotics.

Personally I think it would be smarter to have it in Andromeda, given that it's the basis for the technology that gives Mass Effect it's name. It's not particularly difficult to believe that it would be present in Andromeda either. Putting aside its space magic properties, it's really just another precious stone/metal.

Good question ProbeAway . I've been trying to nail down which character fits in which class archetype for a couple of weeks now. I believe the devs said that the traditional classes would be represented by the NPC's in ME:A. However, my guess is that they are going to have a spin on the class paradigm to make them a little more... unique and less traditional. Here's what I've got: Liam: Engineer (based on his background) Cora: Vanguard (adepts don't charge) PeeBee: Adept/Sentinel (Invasion is a tech power but she has no "armor" per se... hmmm) Drack: Solider (but fire based) Vetra: Solider/Sentinel (Power Armor is like Fortification, but another solider?? Maybe more Sentinel like which means she needs some sort of biotics? I dunno...) Jaal: Infiltrator (biotic based like Thane) Perhaps there is/will be a 7th character (secret or DLC) to represent the new "Explorer" class. Or one of the above does already.

Yeah I agree, and I don't get the belief that Biotics need to be our "thing." I understand that people want Andromeda to feel new, I don't understand how taking away one of the three combat pillars does that in a positive way. The thinking seems to be that since Eezo fuels Mass Effect drives that it is tied exclusively to Mass Effect technology. The Milky Way didn't evolve down the path the reapers wanted because of Eezo, they did it because the Mass Effect tech was there. They controlled our evolution by funneling our technology path a specific way. Sovereign straight up says this. Therefore the biggest difference in the Andriomeda galaxy will be technology, which we have already seen. The Remnant used beam weapons, and the Helios Cluster uses Plasma weaponry. It is already different. Open eyes.
