MASS EFFECT™: ANDROMEDA – Gameplay Series #1: Combat

That was great video, though I do miss the thought of having a class based character and building squads around that limitation.

I am going to try and do a pure melee build with no other weapon, but I am guessing that it won't work to well

I'm glad the combat looks similar to ME3, but slightly improved. Hopefully it plays as well in multiplayer too...

Having a total of 16 abilities to use at the same time sounds like a major improvement since ME3 limited us to 7 and DAI limited us to 8.

Could work with Cloaks/Teleports build perhaps, very curious to try it myself too. Omniblade Wolverine exclusive playtrhough

Some random thoughts from the video:

> I really like seeing the numbers on the gun stats finally, rather than requiring going into the files to get that information. Something like the Crusader having an accuracy of 53 is largely arbitrary, but it's nice to see 468 damage, 80 Rate of Fire, and 4 max clip size.
> I know it was in an earlier video but it's on display here again that there will be hazardous environments, which is nice to see. Hopefully it's just not a bitch to manage your life support(and maybe upgrades to increase how much you have if you think you're going onto a particularly hostile planet).
> Gun skills seems to be back to enhance how useful you are with that chosen weapon as a combat skill. I don't imagine as this will be much of a hindrance as they're clearly pushing the whole "you can respec mid-game" angle a lot. These skills can quicken up reload speeds, meaning reload time is now dynamic and not tied to the animation like it was in ME3.
> Based on evolution names it seems as though Fitness is now not forcing you to choose between more HP/Shields and more melee damage which was incredibly counter productive to what melee needed in Mass Effect.

Overall I do like what I see from the trailer even if we didn't get a huge amount of uncut combat footage.

One of my favorite parts of the video! It shows so much more enviromental interaction. Hopefully the cover system works as advertised.

Will depend on balance (on higher difficulties). Profile bonuses unlock only if you invest alot in specific skills so this whole "total freedom" is rather overblown. Especially as there's only 1 new "class" to account for ALL builds that fall outside of the usual-6-classes archetypes

You can create different favourites around the same profiles though, you can see it in that shot, there are two favorites about the Explorer profile.

I thought the same, but I think that's exactly the case, don't worry
