KEo @begoviceoCan you keep playing after the story ? Or is there a "Point of no return" like in Mass effect 3? Ian S. Frazier @tibermoonYou can keep playing after finishing the main story. The vast majority of content, including loyalties, remain available.
I was hoping they were going to take this approach. I'm also hoping we'll see some the effects of the main story wrapping up as well.

Yaaaassss! This is the second coming of ME2 I've been waiting for. DA:I was almost there but they made all conversations unavailable and locked out all inner-circle (companion) quests upon completing. ME2 felt like an ongoing adventure just waiting for each DLC to come out and I would check out all the unexplored systems on the Galaxy map in short bursts of play after I beat it. When DLC dropped it truly felt like a weekly episode (or just 2-3 of them) landed and the story just continued. It's the best game experience I've ever had basically. Really looking forward to this game now. I can feel it.

Good, I really dislike points of no return that force me to finish everything including later-released DLCs before an ending. Especially in case of DLCs many of them have vastly improved design/gameplay/production value compared to some sections of vanilla and even the endings (the final mission of Fallout New Vegas for example pales in comparsion to Lonesome Road DLC that you're forced to do before the ending)

It's especially that; the point of no return that locks out stuff. I don't like the empty feeling of completing a game with lots of freedom and quests that then erases the remaining quests. I really like the feeling of moving towards ME2's endgame and knowing that it doesn't actually end there, necessarily. Legion still has 3 more conversations I need to hear, I still have to help Liara do her thing and I risked not doing Thane's loyalty mission -- stuff like that.
I enjoyed killing dragons after the game was done in DA:I but I was really disheartened by how after one post-game conversation with any companion they go into "Hi Inquisitor" state where you can no longer have conversations.
We don't know if we can even have conversations regularly or if it's ME3-esque with "Not right now" in Andromeda at least we can do Loyalty quests and stuff in case we skipped some, after the game is over.

And a few quests specific for a/some big decision(s) you took during the main story would be incredible awesome, although I'd be very surprised if they included something like this.

Very happy with this! And with it confirmed that no squadmates die, we don't have to try and please everyone before the final part of the story, so nothing bad happens!

Now this.. this was something I wanted added to MEA. I really hated the point of no return in most video games.
When it come to Mass Effect 2, I always liked testing out character builds once the main story was done and over with.
This was so I could just see what character builds would work better when I started Mass Effect 3 soon afterwards.

Welcome news, but it doesn't exclude certain missions/story arcs related to the main story from becoming locked. Hopefully Bio has put some thought into their journal system this time around on where to go for what and clearly identifying any time sensitive missions.

Once again they've had every opportunity to simply reuse and tweak the journal from DA:I and considering we've seen that it checks and updates quest objectives already you can count on it. DA:I had bad quest design but it did actually update quest objectives at all times and every quest had a written summary describing the outline too. Sometimes that outline changed with the current objective as well.

I was really thinking more of ME3 which was a complete disaster.

I'm generally sick of BioWare's obsession with increasing the size with every game leading to the same amount of quality but spread thinner out over the game (as evidenced by companion conversations in ME2 vs ME3 for example) ME2's quest log was perfect in size, and I prefer to keep it to that amount by skipping redundant quests.

Yeah I paled a bit when I read that tweet. If all the side quests are meaningful and a lot of time put into them, I doubt that whole journal will be just those and the main story and its b-stories. I expect many fetch quests too.

And that's fine as long as they aren't put into the map by BioWare manipulating the player to walk into them at every turn if they're as pointless as in DA:I.
Frostbite's map editing thingy has some feature that makes it possible for BioWare to track common player movement during testing so they can figure out exactly where to place a quest so it is center of attention.

Here's hoping they really did learn from that! I'm not sure they ever knew that's what the complaint was. All they've said is "we heard you guys and understand you want more substantial storytelling in quests" and "check 3 glyphs" to me implies that whatever those glyphs are it's just pointless plot-devices that exist to create a quest where you do "3 something whatever" rather than actually using "3 whatever" to highlight a feature in a fictional world. As with DA:I, it's "gameplay>story" design.

I hope this also means post end game content. Like secret bossess or new stories that only become available after beating the main story, because if not i wont bother since i usually do almost everything before beating the story. Otherwise the world would just feels empty and meaningless(TW3 gave me this feeling b4 the amazing DLC came out).
