Do people actually buy these things? Sure, why not? Collectibles are fun. Myself, I don't go for character figures most of the time, but prefer the vehicles and such. If a Tempest or Nomad ever get quality replicas made, I'd definitely get one of those. I admit that I am tempted by the Sara fig though. I don't even care if it doesn't look like the in-game character, since my own character isn't going to look like her either.

It's not clear as to whether the transaction was completed, though. Could it be that someone prank-inflated the price, and someone else prank-'bought' it (knowing the credit card would bounce, maybe)? Because otherwise, what the ...

Lol looks nothing like them. Reminds me of that Liara figure with the kawaii face and balloon tits I have to agree, wtf is wrong with that armor and face. The in game models look better. The N7 armor really accentuates the narrow waist. Part of it is the color scheme, part of it is its lighter design. This is going to be more obvious on Sara's narrower frame. Then, they unsurprisingly posed her in a knees locked, straight-legged, arms above the head pose, because that's how women usually stand. Right? If you ignore the sexualized pose, they're same figure. The figures are fully poseable, so your figure need not look that way. Scott is holding the Avenger AAX5, and Sara has the pistol (totally the official name). I assume, though it is an assumption, that each weapon comes with each figure. Pretty impressive looking, though it's not my type of thing. I have no appropriate place for this type of stuff in my home. If I had such, I'd be tempted.

We already have a few lego architecture sets and this looks pretty sharp without looking too dorky.

I may even splurge on the Remote Control Nomad depending on how much I like the game and my current career status. Maybe it'll go down in price, but I did throw money at the BB* thing last year for family member's Xmas present. If anything, you can get it, hide it, and bring it out only when playing the game

More power to people who want this stuff but I'm constantly confused by how much BioWare has been pushing merchandise since... ME3 I think. That and comics and novels. It's kinda annoying, I just wanna focus on the game. I don't get excited about the other stuff.

It makes sense to maximize the IP in anyway possible, of course, so I'm all for anything they can sell that doesn't cheapen the brand or experience.

But it kinda sucks when they start bringing over characters and references left and right that are exclusive to "fans that are hardcore enough they wanna explore merch and external story-material". It's some MCU-type BS right there.

Sigh here it is again. Three possibilites: 1. That could be the father/mothers armor passed down to the children. 2. Over the course of the game we complete the necessary trials to be able obtain and wear N7 armor. 3. As others have said Bioware is devouring the profits of the N7 trademark they have.

It's some MCU-type BS right there. They were doing fine until ME3 and Kai Leng. I hate to point all of the blame at Mac, especially after so long, because I think he has gracefully borne all of the blame for years. Still, it felt like Mac got his hands on Drew's character and f-ed it up. He dropped him into the story half-assed, and turned him into a space ninja to boot. The stand alone stories Drew wrote were fun. They added additional depth and stories, but didn't mess with the games' narratives. Tie-in novels can be trickier. We don't need anymore Kai Lengs or a ME version of "The Masked Empire". We'll see if they get it right. I'd hate for them to turn me actively against the publication of novels. They have already exhibited that they have a special gift for souring even the best of things.

I wish the Sara model had the same pose and weapon as Scott. She does, I believe, after a fashion. They're both fully poseable, if I'm not mistaken. They just chose to give her a sexualized pose in the photo because they're dolts. I also assume they each have both the Carnifex and the Avenger AAX5.

She's standing with her arms above her head, all the better to highlight her waist. She's also standing straight-legged with her knees locked, to make her legs look longer. (Very unhealthy. Don't do this.) It might sound like I'm nitpicking, but this is all part of real life body language and real advertising choices. If they'd posed Scott in the same way, people would've thought it looked weird. It's not very "soldierly" looking, though definitely relatively tame, as you say.

It is nitpicky. It's a poseable action figure in a stylized pose. The figures don't look all that great to me in the first place, but for twenty bucks you get what you pay for.
