Call me a control freak, but I wish we could at a certain point customize our squad mate's appearances to a certain degree. I'm talking about reconstruction surgery here to make Cora like an Angara super fan, but I would like to have a few options.
It would be nice to have a space barber on the Nexus allowing us to change Cora, Liam, Scott, or Sara's hair mid game. Maybe a tattoo parlor where we can add tattoos or paint to our characters' necks and faces for everyone including Peebee, Jaal, Vetra, Drack. They could just have this in one place.
And shopping on the Nexus could allow us to add monocles, visors, or character specific outfits (rare ones to give us a reason to save up or credits).
Just a thought. I'd personally like to give Cora longer hair with a monocle, small tattoo, and Miranda Lawson style uniform since we can't customize them at the start.

I just want them to have the same degree of armor customization as Ryder.

Nah that is a waste of resources, I prefer they have a distinctive look and personality with it. Unofficial mods are enough.

The resources for hair are already there for creating your character, and it's hardly a waste of resources when the systems are in place with a very minute add in scenery for the store, dialogue, & animations. I think we can already add Monocles anyways as suggested by the combat video. I respect that you want a distinct look, but why not satisfy all gamers with a basic change?

Because that would not make much sense if they have a distinctive look. If it was something like Wasteland 2 sure, creating your squad and having the CC open for everyone is fun but I would like that for the player character and not really for the companions.

Nope. Not interested. I'd rather the characters look like the designers envisioned them. I want to get to know them as they are, not mould them to my own tastes.

How does hair styles and clothing change who they are? I went from being a southern fratstar Justin Bieber clone to having a man bun and beard instructing kids how to snowboard in vail to being completely clean cut in a suit everyday as a consultant in DC. My appearance didn't change my personality in the least bit. Same goes for someone with Guages and blue hair and saying their character/personality has to be a certain way.

Didn't say that was the case, only that I'm not interested in making those decisions for them. If one of the characters shaves their hair off mid-game or takes a rocket to the face and gets some scars, that's fine - I just don't want the player to be the one deciding that.

So the amount of control of customizing our experience and role playing is where we disagree. I would rather have slightly more freedom and creativity so my squad doesn't always look the exact same for each play through . You would rather the supporting characters keep their same iconic look or at least make sure everyone is stuck with their iconic look. Fair enough. I don't think it hurts to have options that you never use because you want a certain experience.

It would be super cool if we could unlock alternate outfits. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable doing more than that with squadmate customization.

I like alternate outfits. Sure I've looked at character and wished something was different, but I'd rather not change them. I'm fine if the character changes something on their own. I'd rather have them be who they were created to be.

I wouldn't mind if you had the option to change outfits or hair styles and hair colors, but changing things like skin color gets into icky territory and I'd rather not have that at all.

I would love for it to be like SWTOR, with multiple companion customization options. It was great to change their looks between the playthrough etc.
I for one would love to remove a monocle from Jaal...

I'm not a fan of customization beyond just clothes. I don't like getting to change their hair, skin color, scars/piercings/tattoos, etc.
But, unfortunately, there are rarely alternate outfits that I like better.
If anything, I'd rather it go the route of the DA: I system, where each character has their own style and, when you equip a new item on them, it's customized to their own style. I'll never forget Vivienne's fieeeeeerce outfits. That was actually a pretty great system in my opinion.

Outfits yes, but restricted to their style à la DA:I.
Hair and hair colour nope. It's too far, and a gross overstep of authority.

The characters have distinct personalities with looks that go with those personalities. Allowing the player to change those looks fundamentally ruin the care put in by the writers and developers to create unique individuals for us to interact with. I didn't like the fact that Jack was bald, but I wouldn't change Bioware's vision for that character. Plus it's natural to find some things less pleasing, which adds realism.
Now I would love to be able to customize their armor, as long as it's a cosmetic thing. I hate micromanaging different armor pieces for my whole squad in story games and I wouldn't enjoy my squad's armor constantly changing just because I have to upgrade to stay revelant to gameplay.

I mean, yes if the styles of hair and color is completely different to their personality. Like, long flowing black hair for Cora? No. But a slightly different styles of short hair in varying degrees of blonde? I don't think that's too gross of an overstep.

"Hey, Cora."
"What is it, Ryder?"
"I don't like your haircut. Imma take you to a barber on the Nexus, give you a nice long ponytail."
"..."
And one Charge later, Ryder's internal organs are slowly leaking through their armour onto the wall they're embedded in.

Not this again (hated that system)...If I find a cool armor in a dragon's horde for example then I don't want anybody changing that armor to "fit their style" (especially if it's say and ancient elven armor (or something of the like, but pertaining to Mass Effect) that nobody knows how to make anymore (or in Mass Effect: Remnant Armor that nobody knows how to recreate yet!)) greetings LAX ps: If we can create everything then fine! Still don't like it, but it's stupid if it's supposedly a one of kind armor/weapon etc. (you don't fiddle with that because it might destroy it!)

I honestly do not understand this kind of concern in an SP game. How could it bother you that on my PC Liam looks different than on your PC? You like to keep to the BioWare's original vision? Amen! I want to put a customization overlay over all NPCs? Why not? Only some of them? Again, no biggie.
I just don't get it how it hurts anyone, since overlays a-la SWTOR are low resource and preserve the essential facial features, so will not break the cutscenes animations. It's just a bit of recolours and haircuts switches. All provided by Bio itself.
Anyway, we are not getting this option, so it's a moot point, but boy, I'd like either the option or the knowledge of how to build a look I like as a PC, and then override in the game with the code for a companion.
I'd rather that, than pout that BioWare did not ask me personally about my preferences and make assumptions that's there is some crazy agenda because I do not get ethnicity, hair color or length that I find appealing on my LI.
Such a simple way to please if not everyone, then most of people...
