Do the accusations of sexism maybe come from what the women wear? The sorceresses tend to show ample cleavage (whereas the main males show hardly any skin) and even Ciri doesn't really wear protective gear despite all the fighting she does. It's pretty silly and yes, a bit sexist. Other than that, though, I didn't consider the game or story to be sexist. It's worth noting that I didn't play the first two games, so maybe there is some subtext I'm missing. I haven't seen a fantasy game where women's clothing was realistic, but I think Triss and especially Yennefer are within reasonable boundaries for the genre. Also, don't we want characters to look good and not wear the fantasy equivalent of mud-splattered gray/green camouflage armor? IMO a little artistic license is necessary. It only gets silly with the other sorceresses in the last chapter of the story. I keep wondering, though, when game developers will do away with giving female characters high heels on their boots when wandering around in the wilderness. I simply can't get used to that - the idea that this is necessary to look reasonably good is ludicrous. As for Ciri, I give her more leeway than others for two reasons: first, at the start of the game she has this "ragged fugitive" appearance that suggests she never had time to get protective clothing, and second, her superhuman speed is almost akin to "teleport spam" and makes it believable that she can depend on not getting hit far more than would be realistic for anyone else except for the higher vampires. In fact, I don't think I ever got hit as Ciri in the last chapter except in cutscenes. And as opposed to the sorceresses, she wears winter clothing in the last chapter. In any case, I think whatever problem areas remain are easily outweighed by the fact that the major female NPCs are compelling and convincing characters, powerful and intelligent in their own right, and....all the more attractive for it, at least as far as I'm concerned. Hmm...would you recommend making my second game a NG+ if I switch to a higher difficulty? I have ended my first one at level 53 or so, and Geralt starting at level 1 makes no sense in this game anyway... Also, do you keep your money and your bought potions? I have around 50k and two respec potions I'd probably use in a NG+.

I have around 50k and two respec potions I'd probably use in a NG+. Female clothing: fair enough. I suppose there are ways to explain away their clothing choices for Ciri, though the sorceresses other than Yen are, as you say, ridiculous. It's possible that it was a deliberate worldbuilding choice by the developers, rather than just an appeal to straight male players. On NG+, yes, I think so. I've been playing a bit still on the lowest difficulty (still working on the Baron's quest line), and it is actually too easy even with Geralt a couple of levels below the recommended for the quest...whereas my first time through, I had to over-level Geralt to survive the early quests, simply because I hadn't learned the combat well enough yet. I am going to raise the difficulty level next time I play. With NG+, Geralt kept his entire inventory from the old game other than quest items, as far as I can tell. (For example, it appears he lost his mutagen-converter-thing from Blood and Wine.) I didn't have any respect potions, so I'm not sure about them specifically, but all other mundane items appeared to be preserved. So was his gold. And, of course, you get to keep all of his nifty end-game skills, with the downside being few to no slots left for new abilities. Honestly, it just feels more realistic (and more fun!) for Geralt to be a badass high-level monster hunter rather than some amateur that a few wild dogs could take down.

Here's a screenshot that illustrates how immersive TW3 can be - including one of the rare whale appearances. I just wish that "water drops on camera lens" effect wasn't there:

A couple quick question for those playing TW3 on the PC. I originally bought the game on the Xbone, since my PC at the time was under powered. I built a new PC a little over a year ago and have finally decided to repurchase the game for said PC (my xbone copy had numerous glitches and bugs - drove me so batty, I never finished my play through). Anyway, of those that use them, which mods do you find worthwhile (if any)? I don't care about aesthetic type mods (i.e. ENB's, cosmetic mods, etc...). Mostly interested in things that help with inventory, mods that might shut "old" Dandelion's voice over during loading, and maybe some gameplay mods. Also, can't remember if TW3 on the PC is controller capable, but if so, do you find the KB+M better for gameplay, or a controller? (for those that may have tried both). I like this game, but admittedly still don't love the combat mechanics, so anything that makes the combat feel smoother would be nice. I am obviously familiar with the controller from playing on the Xbone, but usually use KB+M for most PC games with a few exceptions. Thanks in advance for any tidbits.

I can't address the controller questions since I don't like them in general, but a few mods I like are: Better Icons - Labels inventory items Disable Storybook VideosFast Travel Without Signposts - Be extremely careful with this mod, as improper use will break some quests. Never travel from inside a building, inside a garden or courtyard, inside a fortress gate, etc. You must leave some of these areas the normal way to trigger certain quests, such as the emperor assassination one (that's the one I personally broke through improper usage, though I was able to trigger the quest using the cheat engine). I am obviously familiar with the controller from playing on the Xbone, but usually use KB+M for most PC games with a few exceptions. Thanks in advance for any tidbits. Regarding mods:Apart from the aforementioned "disable storybook videos" mod, I have installed the rather misnamed God Mode mod. It offers about 50 different gameplay options, from heavy cheats to convenience and appearance options, switchable through an in-game menu accessible through Options->Mods. For my second playthrough, I'm using or considering the following options: -boats take no damage (may be a deprecated option, there is (now?) a standard game option on the HUD options page that turns boat durability off) -no falling damage (be careful, this may let you go where you're not supposed to here and there) -fast travel from anywhere (subject to the usual caveats mentioned in dragontartare's post) -no toxicity cam effect -set weather conditions (I like the weather, but at times I don't want prolonged rainy periods) -jump and sprint while using witcher sense (it makes sense that you can't, so I actually like how the game does it. I just choose convenience over realism this time) In case anyone here wants to use this mod: all options are switched off by default, but unfortunately there is a bug that sets the damage multiplier to 0 instead of 1, which means that you do no damage. So after you've installed it, go into the options->mods menu and set all damage multipliers to 1, or use the "default" button at the top of the damage multipliers page. Also, I just found that this mod lets me fine-tune the difficulty: I like that the enemies do more damage on the higher settings, since that makes the fights more interesting, but not that they have so much more health, since that just prolongs combat. So far I haven't experimented with those settings, but it's nice to have the option. Regarding the interface:I can't use a controller well, but for this game in particular I could never even imagine playing it with a controller rather than keyboard and mouse. The KB/M interface is very well designed, even the fighting goes smoothly for me, which is saying something. Only switching between signs in combat against very fast enemies can be a little awkward. @all: Is there a mod that switches off the "water drops on camera" effect while sailing?

Remove water droplets effect: www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/408/?Same author has other mods that will remove the mud screen/toxicity/blood screen effect, etc. Just browse nexus. One of the most essential mods for me is Immersive camera, which comes with improved horse controls for Roach. They essentially made roach more M&K friendly, and it makes fighting on horseback much easier. Hud positioning and scale allows you to properly scale the hud elements for a monitor - the in-game option is not great. Improved sign effects makes signs much more awesome, especially ignii as it ramps up particle effects. Auto loot allows you to customize and speed up looting. Friendly Hud is one of the most popular for good reason, but I don't use it due to scripting conflicts. 90% of the best mods are tweaks and improvements, and many are simply drag and drop to the MOD folder to install. I have 36 without any scripting conflicts, and honestly I won't play the game without them.

Thanks to all who added their experience and suggestions! Very grateful. I ended up using the KB+M, over the controller. As previously stated, I had played on the Xbone and knew how the controller felt for that. I agree with all who answered regarding the KB+M. I am still getting use to the camera, and trying to get my old tired brain to remember which moves are bound to what, but that is par for course when I first begin a game. I looked over the Nexus, and saw a number of the mods you all suggested. I will probably give some a try, soon. Happy New Year everyone!

Master Mirror is a evil bastard who enjoys twisting the wishes of people and trapping them on his schemes. So i am pretty sure he would find a way to screw even a carefully worded wish.

Everything has been running smooth, until an infinite load screen during Precious Cargo. I have a save right before talking to the Merchant a second time, so I may just give him the damn box and not bother with trying to chase him down. I did chase him down on the Xbone, so it isn't like I haven't seen the content before. Looked on the Steam discussion groups, and saw that a couple other people have recently experienced this "infinite load" problem. No mods currently installed, so....*shrug*
Meh. I'm fine with going the quick simple way, but did wonder if this was a known issue.

Even CD PRojekt is team Triss I think that was apparent when they decided to pretend Yennefer didn't exist while making the first game (Which is one of the reasons the first game comes across as a piece of fanfiction tbh, some wish fulfillment exercise there)

Heck, I like Triss, I just can't help but note that the first game took pains to avoid any mention of Yennefer's existence and the sequel promoted Triss as Geralt's canon love interest for that game.

I think I remember an interview with the devs saying they weren't sure how to approach Yenn in game so they left her out. I think fan reception played into it. I liked Triss in all 3 but Yenn was a great character and happy she finally made an appearance. Which is ironic when you realize Triss in TW1 was a Yenn clone hence the fanfiction claim. TW1 was a good game, but there's alot of expys and can come off as fanfiction.

Damn I love this game. I think it's one my favourites so far, I love all the characters and cities, it's all beautiful imo. Indeed. Novigrad is easily the best city I've ever seen in a game. And the work they put into even minor NPCs really stands out. Just consider Rosa var Attre, her sister and her fencing lessons. Also, Priscilla's song about Geralt and Yennefer is hauntingly poignant to a degree I haven't experienced since Deionarra's theme in PST, and Yennefer's now among my top 5 favorite characters in games. I'm on an NG+ playthrough now, and the attention paid to NG+ is very much evident, as everything - not just quests, enemies and normal equipment, but special equipment as well - has been ramped up to work at the new power level. They even have new "legendary" witcher sets with improved stats. I switched to the "Blood and Broken Bones" difficulty setting, and with NG+ being generally a bit easier than the first run, it's just right for me - more dangerous to get hit so you have to use tactics and consumables more, but fights aren't significicantly longer. I admit though, I cheesed my way through the L80 or so giant spiders using the crossbow staying out of the monsters' attention range in order to get enchantments eary. Automatic Quen shields as you enter combat, and a chance for a auto-repeat of a sign cast are just too useful. Also very compelling is the fact that much of Novigrad's main plot doesn't involve a lot of fighting, but being more about investigation, talking with people and setting things up to happen. I love this. With storytelling, worldbuilding, characters, voice-acting and music as well as combat gameplay as good as they are, I think TW3 is my new reference game for rpgs. The holy grail, of course, would be a game like this with a more customizeable protagonist with all that comes with it, such as more varied character expression and the world reacting to it accordingly, but that has never been done to my satisfaction in a game with fully-voiced characters, and the developers take full advantage of their more defined protagonist in every way imaginable, while still giving me very satisfying choices and consequences. In any case, unless you really can't stand Geralt, TW3 is a 100% "must have" game IMO. I'm even motivated to try its predecessor again, if I can find a mod that lets me cheat through the damned QTE boss fights. Now back to some more playing TW3...

Damn I love this game. I think it's one my favourites so far, I love all the characters and cities, it's all beautiful imo. I agree and much more. Everything about this game just put together to near perfection. Even roach who i hated first play through, now i found her endearing :-)

I also love all the various artworks made off her around the web, people have all their different ways of seeing her. Here's one I found the other day from Pinterest which I really liked

thewitcher.com/en/news/view/4310/The most interesting part here is the number of people now in their development wing. Over 450. That's at least 200 more than the team for TW3.

Yeah, it seems like their Cyberpunk team has pretty much double the manpower of the Witcher 3 team. Witcher 3 was made by about 200 people, as the greeting text in the box states. I understood that the 450 strong team will be working on Cyberpunk 2077 in a dedicated attempt to make something even bigger than Witcher 3.
They're also developing the standalone Gwent game, but I doubt that is taking that much of their resources.
