Need much more gameplay before I even think about buying this game. The whole, tactical pause and no issue of orders to squad mates is making it feel like a dumb action game, I want the dumb twitch action I go play cod. Upcoming videos can't come soon enough to answer exactly what type a product this MEA truly is. They're going over squad commands on Friday, which would suggest that you can issue orders to them =P

True but not the quick orders of squad abilities and nor the ability to set that up tactically in a pause mode. These are the very iconic combat features I've come to know very well from the Mass effect games. It's unfortunate it is no longer a part of it... hope they take the time to really explain the new flashy system in this video, it really looks to me in my opinion that they are trying to draw in a new crowd to the universe. Which is cool and all but with what information we currently have not a direction I imagined mass effect would of gone. Enough with the stream lining

Which is cool and all but with what information we currently have not a direction I imagined mass effect would of gone. Enough with the stream lining Here's the problem I'm having. ME2 and most especially ME3 were clearly action heavy shooters. We can all agree on that I would think. But we also had the ability to pause, bring up a menu, and issue commands. The more I think about it however, the more open I am to the idea of getting rid of those. The only times I relied on the powers of my Squad, is during the higher difficulties, and when I did, I had to bring up the command menu a lot. So basically the flow of battle would go like this: 5 seconds of shooting Command menu 3 seconds of shooting Command menu 0.5 seconds of shooting Command menu 10 second of shooting Command menu 0.5 seconds of shooting Command menu You get the point. So even though I did like issuing commands for my squad to use powers, it did break up the flow of combat. The fact is, we won't truly know whether or not we'll like this change, until we get our hands on the game and play for ourselves. I don't think who we choose as our squadmates "won't matter". There will obviously be a difference between Cora and PeeBee, because as a Vanguard, Cora will be charging in a lot, while PeeBee is more likely to keep distance. Drak for example will obviously be a tank that helps draw fire from Ryder. So it's things like this that lead me to believe this probably won't be a detraction.

That's the beauty of last mass effects, you had the options to play it in many different ways. One a tactician, the other run and gun, now it seems one avenue is removed from Andromeda

Enough with the stream lining As far as I know we've yet to learn anything in-depth about just how the squad orders and abilities work, which is what this week's video is supposed to be about(as well as some other things). Given that combos are making a return, I see no reason why they wouldn't allow us to command squad members to use abilities on the fly. Just because we haven't seen it yet doesn't mean it's not there.

That's the beauty of last mass effects, you had the options to play it in many different ways. One a tactician, the other run and gun, now it seems one avenue is removed from Andromeda I know what you're saying, but those tactical options sometimes clashed with the action heavy focus. Barring Insanity, you could very easily go through the entirety of ME2 and ME3, without issuing commands, because the games at that point became full blown third person shooters, just with RPG elements to them. Choosing to run and gun wasn't so much of an option, as it was just a natural thing to do. We should also consider that we now have more customization options with our skills. So while one avenue was removed, another was added in with the Favorites and Profile features, which will be explained in the next video.

What company are you talking about? bioware That was a rhetorical question in response to your exaggerated post. Bioware has not made the worst games ever. One of the worst VG endings ever? Maybe.

I would love some more gameplay. Preferably soon. Very soon. But with some crafting, and dialogue wheel action (so much combat gameplay, and about half a second of the dialogue wheel in total so far). Just 27 more days and I can just play the whole game through myself. I still find it hard to believe that ME:4 is finally being released...

I will guess that at release date we will get 5 minutes of gameplay. Then the game will be locket until E3, when we get to play another 5 minutes. And at N7 day, SURPRISE! 10 full minutes of gameplay! And all for 60$ and a season pass.

This is true...I believed the only time i remember issuing commands was in the tutorial stage in the beginning of ME2 with Jacob....I think i might have used the option a few other moments in the game, but it was rare. The characters were pretty capable for the most part. With the way the action looks in Andromeda (more fast paced) hopefully your teammates will be up to the task and capable of using their powers and implementing tactical attacks/schemes without you having to tell them to do anything. That said, i understand how some would still want this feature, as we all know that while AI in general has come a long way, AI characters can still stink up tha joint royally when you need them to do something specific that is critical in the game itself.

I theorize that Bioware wants to gatekeep their game as long as possible so people don't know what's in it or rather what's not in it, like tactical pausing and issuing companions to use powers. They have given answers to those questions though. Tactical Pause: Nope Issuing companions to use powers: Nope You may dislike those decisions, but they're hardly gatekeeping them. Ever since the vid last friday they have been quite forthcoming with gameplay related information. But only on Twitter. Most people will miss that crucial information as it get's buried in Twitter feed.

I'm with Dutch on this one.
While I'm not expecting a demo, since those are things of the past, the marketing for this game has been fucking terrible. Even Fallout 4 had more marketing than what we have so far.
Sure, the hardcore fans among us will be content with the gameplay and all those tweets etc.
But the newcomers who Bioware wants to attract with this new title will have barely any idea what is going on or that there is even a new Mass Effect game to begin with.
There is this game magazine website I frequently visit and they have only been able to show like 3 trailers or so?
And the game is one month away from release. The marketing really needs to do something soon.

I can't speak for Prey because as soon as I saw the "turn into a coffee mug" mechanic I took it off my radar. How much of that times was empty (nothing really happening or no new interesting reveals). I generally like much more compact reveals that show a lot. That 5 minutes was packed with stuff and there are another 2 videos to the series. Along with the two remaining AI vids, the press hands on, at least one more cinematic trailer and a launch trailer I think there will be plenty. There is also a panel on the 9th I believe that is supposed to be big. I wouldn't worry. I just don't think they wanted a long hype build. Anyways I wouldn't be so alarmed, give them more time. None of those year long hype trains mattered for any of the AAA games holiday 2016. It's a waste of money. I would recommend ignoring dutchsghost7 he's just wanting attention seeking troll, all he does is bash BioWare games and the fans who aren't cynical bastards. He used to post thought-provoking threads now it's just basically "BioWare sucks and their fans are stupid! Go play The Witcher 3 and worship CCPD!" Slightly offtopic: I have tried 3 times to get into the Witcher 3. I just can't. That's not a game for me.

Just a question: there's a group of people here who really don't seem to even want or like the new ME game.
Why are you here? Isn't there some game you do look forward to?
And if you think Bioware is the worst company ever.... why are you are?
The internet is such a baffling place at times.

Some people can have not-so-warm feelings about the company even on that basis alone.
