Okay, as interesting as character customization is, I've always found it's not an IMPORTANT part of gaming. The game will proceed no matter what you look like. But usually when a game offers character customization, I still use it because it does make my character seem like my own character, looking the way I want them to look. But for Mass Effect, there just doesn't seem to be an incentive for customizing your character.
Shepard has a default look, whether it be male or female, and more often than not, you'll see people just use their default appearances. A good reason for that is because that default look is heavily marketed, appearing in the trailers and cover arts (the male default more than the female) so because they have just got so used to that look, not many people decide to take advantage of the character customizer (that and the customizer isn't really good).
This is in direct contrast for Dragon Age Inquisition because Bioware never gave a default look for the Inquisitor. The most we've seen is a guy with a helmet on, but no details on the face and voice. As a result people were given much more room for interpretation and could customize the Inquisitor there own way. There's no widely used "default" inquisitor.
So for Andromeda, I feel I'm going to have the same problem. With so much exposure to the look of Sara and Scott Ryder (which look FINE by the way), I don't think I'll be comfortable with the idea of altering their look, otherwise to me, they won't be Scott or Sara Ryder.
It's just my opinion though. There's no reason to go spreading that around.

That's cool. You do you. I'm the kind of person who never use defaults so I will for sure customize my Ryder. I don't give a fork... lol!

I see what you're saying, but I always customize my character if I have the option. And you're right, there's nothing wrong with the default Ryder's look (in fact they look good). I don't really remember where I was going with this...

I'll be customizing both. Not that I don't like the look of the default twins, I just like customizing a character to suit my preferences so I'll customize till I'm comfortable. Not even sure if I will use their default names. Since my name is not Scott or Sara it wouldn't be that big of a deal if npcs didn't call my Ryder by their first names.

Only time I've kept the default name was with my Solona Amell because I really thought the name was pretty. I'm also going to do it in Andromeda for the sole reason that I want to hear my LI call me by my first name for the first time ever.

I always customize mine to look a little more like myself, basicly just the redhair and slicked back with some light facial hair. It depends on how you want them to look, games for me helps me escape from the shitty world that is life so its nice to think i'm in a less shitty place for awhile.

I don't personally have an issue with default faces for protagonists. It's just a habit after playing RPGs for decades to customize my own character. I honestly don't even really think about it because it's instinctive. Plus, by customizing my character, it provides me with more ownership and really gives the impression that it's my Ryder. I think I only ever used a default face one time and that was for Hawke in DAII for some odd reason.
I also started playing BioWare games with KOTOR, which had no "default" look for the player character. It just feels strange not tampering with the appearance of your character.

I almost always use the defaults. Customizing the appearance of characters isn't really something I get a whole lot of enjoyment out of unless I really don't like the default appearance, but it's entirely up to you. If you want to use the defaults, use them. If not, the option to create your own face is always there. It's one of the perks of playing a BioWare game after all!

I never use the default. 1 because i think its fun, 2 because I usually have so many playthroughs I need to remember who is who That being said I might not change male Ryder, as I think he looks better than his facemodel (that guy gives me the creeps for some reason /shivers), but female Ryder just looks really young. I know the protagonist is 22, but she looks like 16-17 to me and that just rubs me the wrong way. She is cute (though she doesn't look to much like her facemodel), but she just looks way to young for my tastes. But it will depend on the customization options as well. Take the Mass effect trilogy, you could create a decent looking guy, but nomatter what I did female shepard looked like the same bloody trainwreck each and everytime So in Mass Effect 3 I actually went with the default, because the difference was so great.

I don't want to use the default I want my character to be something I've created.
Out of all my ME playthroughs I never used default Shepard once.
I'm looking forward to spending time making Ryder

Shepard generator was shit enough, and default M!Shepard was good, despite I created my own, as usually. This is MY character, and I like to distinguish between the playthroughs.Of course, each has a different name as well. So: I will create my own Ryder, just as Shepard and Hawke (default M!Hawke was old looked [~40] at the start for a ~25-year-old man). I hope, the face animation will not be ridiculous, as sometimes in Inquisition...

Especially if the character is smiling all the time no matter the situation. I would like to customize a bit the default faces but...

Male no because bioware made it look like the model. Female yes because bioware made it look uglier than the model It'd be better if you use more recent models. Scott doesn't really look like his model there, while he does in more recents shots. You can still not like Sara's appearance, but that shot is old, and she looks better now. I'm going to customize both because that's what I prefer if I have the option. The only exception was in MET for Sheploo because I found him much better then the options available in the CC.

I have always customized my appearance when the option is there. The only time I went with the default was in the original trilogy when I finally played as Shepaloo. I wanted to customize him, but the CC for maleShep was really bad.
I'm not entirely sure what I want to do in MEA. I like default Scott quite a bit, though I would love to change some minor things like hair/eye color. If the CC can create something of comparable quality to the default, I'll probably customize.

This may be the first time in my gaming history that I use a default! I really like Sara as is and unless there's something in the CC that blows me away... I don't know. The more I see of her, the more I want to play as her. This is a drastic change for me because a month ago I was ready to roll out my green-eyed, red head character I use when I can. XD

Unless I can make a really good looking character in customization, I always use defaults.
I may touch up Sis Ryder and Papa Ryder. But if I end up making a goofy looking Ryder for my character, then I'll just go with default white bro.

The default faces look good but I never use them because I want my character to be "mine", that's one of the reasons why I like Bioware games.

XD I'm in the same boat. I've never used defaults before.. grumbling in the CC then immediately starting over again when it turns out totally off in-game is a part of the rpg experience! But I'm liking Sara's look and the possibility to be referred to by first name is extra insensitive to stick with default. So I think I may too.

It's just my opinion though. There's no reason to go spreading that around. Hey, watch it! That's my last line for opinion posts! I understand what you mean with face being attached to the character in your mind because the marketing just features defaults so heavily. However, I'm a CC junkie, even going as far as searching hair (and other) mods if I don't like my vanilla options so at least for the first playthrough I will be making my own Ryder. I just like making my own custom characters too much
