The first gay NPC I came across was an old Bosmer man asking for specific flowers of sentimental value to him and his partner so his partner could smell them on his deathbed. No fanfare, just a really heartfelt sidequest. And there was a lot of that throughout all the alliances. They did a great job in that department.

There goes the rest of my free time tomorrow... watching those gameplays. BW is frustrating. I know they know how things should be, they have excellent examples such as that and they have the tech and time to do it, but they always go short with m/m. Frustrating seeing wasted potential.

I have no idea what I want Gil's romance to be like, but I hope it kind of develops from me being the kind of prince to sweep him off his feet, to him becoming this incredibly protective, slighty possessive (in a good way) knight in shining armor. Like the roles are reversed at some point, maybe due to a conflict that really sparks an emotion in Gil, and the sudden realization that this is more than just a casual affair, this is for life, this is the one, my soul mate, and I'm going to do everything in my power to make him happy and protect him.
Of course, that would sound good in a romance novel, but in a game that's only partly a dating sim, I'm not sure how that'd work, since his story would be too centered on the romanced Ryder, it feels. All I know is that I want to pine for him, and then get rewarded for my hard work, and he takes the initiative in most things in the end.
All I want is for Gil to run to meet me and pick me up with his strong arms when I come back from a mission, and say '' I missed you so much! ''

I'm hoping that he's more of a partner. I like it better when the LI feels like an equal, versus a subordinate, in the relationship. I want him to be confident and knowledgeable and capable in his work so that there's not this feeling that Ryder is the one driving it. I liked that about Steve -- he knew his shit and it made him feel more of an equal (versus someone like Kelly who was so unsure all the time).
Gil is supposed to be funny. One of the journalists mentioned enjoying his funny personality, so I'm happy that he won't be super stoic and serious. There's room for that, but I prefer a guy with a sense of humor. That being said, I hope he's not played for laughs. I don't want him to be the comic relief guy either, like Zevran or Joker or Iron Bull.
With regard to his actual romance arc, I'm a bit nervous about the 'finding himself' thing because it could easily go into the gay content area. I'm a little fatigued with that. I want him to be an awesome and compelling character who happens to be gay, versus a gay character. Between the 'finding himself' and the 'it has to make sense for the character' stuff, I'm a little nervous that he's going to have some 'I came out to here to figure out who I truly am and, Scott, you've helped me realize I'm gay' nonsense. Instead I'm hoping that it's just helping him find a purpose, like maybe he's in a rut with engineering, like he's fallen out of love with his work. And there's some major engineering based emergency (like a colony that's in danger and he needs to science the fuck out of the solution to save their lives) that he can help with that allows him to fall back in love with it. And that helps him realize that he made the right choice in coming to Andromeda.
That would be better than a 'woe is me, I am gay but I'm (or my family's) not comfortable with it' finding himself storyline. And, I agree, is better not see a 'What do you mean Gil? We're both men?' Or a 'Is it okay that I tell you that you're handsome, Scott?' line. It's 2017 -- there is no need to have safety dialogue just to make sure that straight guys don't accidentally hit on Gil.

Cortez romance was too safe. I need a little more to really get into a fictional romance than just two dudes casually finding each other. I mean it's fiction, I need a little tension, passion, indulge me in a fantasy! I'm not going through another Dorian romance though, where I'm secondary to him and he is the star. It can start off like that, a little difficult, but then develop into something good. That's fine, as long as I get my happily-ever-after, or something close to that anyway.
I just hope he isn't sassy. I don't like sassy people, and I DEFINITELY don't want another sassy gay character. Just makes me go soft to be honest, I hope he has a great sense of humor about himself, and I wouldn't mind if he was a bit crass.
If they are seriously giving us another ridiculous Dorianesque gay romance, I would laugh my ass off. But I seriously doubt this is the case, unless part of his storyline is just figuring out that hey, I like dudes, and that's pretty much it. And I think it was highlighted that he is trying to find his PURPOSE, rather than finding himself, and I think those are two completely different things. It would be pretty damn awkward and lame if his purpose is to suck dick.

I want to say "Shirley Bioware knows better...", but I don't know that person so whatevs. Might as well be ready with a drinking game for when the game launches. Take a shot every time Bioware put their foot in their mouth and dissapoint me. To adequately prepare for this game, I'll also order my tombstone.

He won't change throughout the game which is disappointing considering InquisitorxDorian honest conversation after their sex scene. I thought he would be different after that, but no. Annoying sassiness all over again.

Annoying sassiness all over again. My thoughts exactly. But he is most likely in DA4, but what good is his romance (and the character development) if you can't experience it as the Inquisitor that romanced him.

Sorry gang, I tried... I don't know how I feel about this. First, they're not sure about whether they'll show Gil at all, and now we can't even hear about his personality or anything? We haven't seen anything about him in any marketing material, and we're supposed to buy that he has as much content and writing and relevance as a squadmate? At this point, it's just getting frustrating.

Maybe someone else here might have better luck with Neil. I've already asked him questions about Peebee, he's probably sick of me. Still, this is disappointing, just a lil picture of his personality, it would have been nice.
