Plus the outfit kills me. I made a mod to get rid of the grid. It's a huge improvement. I think you're partly right about the writers not knowing what to do with him. However, there are some hints here and there about insecurities or quirks he has that could be better developed to help flesh him out. He suffers from a dearth of content.

That helps, looks a little less silly. The straps at the top always reminded me of a toddler in dungarees. Yes once I took the time to really talk to him he was a little more interesting, but just like Vetra and Cora it never really went anywhere. I felt like the writers just kept thinking 'oh he's gay so write him gay, talking about gay things and how he's gay and how people feel about him being gay'. Like really, after Sera and Dorian it's kind of a step back. It's a terrible shame they went to all the trouble to get a well known actor with a lovely voice, and then completely dropped the ball and made 90% of his content about an almost completely off-screen woman that makes homophobic jokes at his expense. BioWare... Jill dying in a fire. The marshmallow DLC that could have been.

I have a question about the Gil romance: does anyone here who has played through the romance know if there's a point in the romance where you can break up with him? I know Liam's romance has one after his loyalty mission and I was wondering if it's the same for Gil. I'm planning a new playthrough of MEA and was considering first romancing Gil, then breaking up with him to later romance Reyes (I don't want to do both at the same time).

If I remember correctly, you can romance both simultaneously. I'm pretty sure I did somehow. So, if memory serves, Gil takes a while before he warms up enough for a solid romance. Meanwhile, Reyes isn't really considered a complete or whole romance, more like a drawn out fling. You can do all the nakeds and heavy flirting/petting with Reyes before officially romancing Gil, who you finish the game with as a couple. You don't really ever get that opportunity with Reyes as his romance content ends early on. So as you are finishing up with Reyes, you are entering into something deeper with Gil. No breakups necessary. Edit: Oh wow, I can't believe the posts I made on this thread clear back in early 2017.
