Tbh I'm with you on Dorian. And while he is TOTALLY not my cup of tea in terms of storyline and personality and his romance makes me want to smack the dude, I'm still extremely glad we got a gay character, and that is enough for me, there's a lot of good things about Dorian, but his romance is definitely not one of them. So he wasn't the perfect gay romance, the perfect gay character by my standards, big deal, it's still a step forward! Bull was fine up until Trespasser, where they dropped the ball on him. I love the guy, but damn does the Trespasser Bull kind of irk me. And I'm not that happy about Bull's promiscuity only being directed at the ladies. He never once talks about dudes and it's pretty weird, it definitely shows that him being bi was an afterthought. Trespasser was a let down for sure, and it was mainly cause half of the Iron Bull romance content was spent on the Dorian ship. I feel like they were trying to validate a relationship that was received poorly by many people (cause honestly a lot of us are just sick of squad romances to begin with). I think Dorian x Bull is the best gay relationship in DA:I but that's just me.

To each their own, but it annoyed me greatly. It didn't help that it was the second game in a roll that my favorite option is in a side romance that even if locked in still has flirting content if I unwisely try to include both individuals on a team. So Dorian and IB on the same team is not good, and before that I couldn't bring Isabella along with Fenris. It's grating.

Bull flirts with Cassandra too even if he is in a relationship with you. The minute I heard that banter I instantly switched Cassandra to someone else, so I know how you feel. Wanted to punch IB in the face for doing that.

Yeah, in fact if you carry Cassandra around with you in Trespasser you literally get no romance content with Iron Bull at all in the stage banter. I actually wound up having to restart that whole dlc cause it was so bad.

Ugh, lame. I know how you feel, but I'd hate to skip out on decent gay content that doesn't involve me just because of things like these. Dorian x Bull was kind of my safety net after I started really disliking both romances lol.

Yeah I can totally understand that. Here's hoping Gil (or someone) will be a much better experience for us both. Though I really did want Jaal to be gay/bi.

Thinking positively is all we can do I suppose, although a pessimistic approach could also soften an inevitable upset Although if Gil looks anything like Renly I might overlook character flaws.... for um science?

I'm personally not at all attracted to Renly sooo eh. I think the only character I've found attractive is our dad. Shit.

That character and his boyfriend was best part of Game of Thrones for me. So, I agree it is an exciting starting place at least. Here's hoping it ends better for this character though!

Grasping at straws here, but could this be him? Looks like an area where you would find an engineer, no? It's probably just some background NPC. Give us something BioWare! Edit: Now that I think about it that's probably not even the Tempest...

I've seen a lot of people arguing that crew mate romances can be just as fulfilling as squad mates ones, referencing the advisors in DAI. While I want to be true for obvious reasons the fact we had Gil and Suvi revealed to us days ago, weeks before launch, whilst the advisors were revealed months in advance has me worried for how important the characters may in fact be. Gil was revealed by an article as well I believe, its just that he was then acknowledged by devs.
It could just be differences in marketing? but ehhhh.

I agree, and as an engineer who will probably lurk towards the bottom of the ship, if he is the only option on the ship it would feel a bit like they are literally stowing the gay far away from the sight of those who want to avoid it. I mean I hope Gil's an amazing character, but not a great start at all thus far.

I'd be okay with the gay/lesbian option(s) being crew members if they have as much content to them as the advisor romances did in DA:I. I only hope that the exclusively gay/lesbian option(s) aren't relegated to being "light" romances or flings on some planet or the Nexus; that would feel like a step back from ME3 - and ME3 was already less than ideal when it came to the homosexual romance options.
My current expectation (not wishlist) when it comes to romances is this:
Cora - straight Liam - straight Peebee - bi Vetra - bi Jaal - bi Drack - not romanceable Kallo - not romanceable Lexi - bi or not romanceable Suvi - bi or lesbian Gil - gay

As someone who really wants to have the option to romance Jaal, I approve of your speculation list.

Even the squadmates only had a bit of info about them released starting a month ago.

As in, you get to decide whether they're going to have sex or not. I personally wouldn't mind having romances where you decide, but I also wouldn't mind romances in which sex is simply not going to happen... because variety is nice, also representation.

For gay romances,
I'm expecting...
1) Gil / Human male NPC no.1 - Gay/bi (depending on what '' Reyes '' is) 2) Reyes / Human male NPC no.2 - Gay/bi (depending on what '' Gil '' is)
What I'm expecting, with my last kernel of optimism added to the mix.
1) Gil / Human male NPC no.1 - Gay/bi (depending on what '' Reyes '' is) 2) Reyes / Human male NPC no.2 - Gay/bi (depending on what '' Gil '' is) 3) Alien male NPC - Most likely bi, hopefully gay
What could be a pretty decent lineup I'd fully support, but I'm not sure if I believe it.
1) Gil / Human male NPC no.1 - Gay/bi (depending on what '' Reyes '' is) 2) Reyes / Human male NPC no.2 - Gay/bi (depending on what '' Gil '' is) 3) Jaal - bi
What would be THE DREAM
1) Gil - Gay 2) Reyes - Bi One of the above would be a fling? 3) Alien male NPC - Gay (preferably gay, I just want an alien all to ourselves tbh, call me petty) 4) Jaal / Liam - Bi (I'd welcome both, but we are getting only one at most. I'm fine with either, I'd probably go with Liam even though Jaal intrigues me)

Even the squadmates only had a bit of info about them released starting a month ago. Dr. Lexi is voiced by Natalie Dormer though. Promoting Lexi is an excellent way of appealing to the GOT dude bros, and having observed the reactions from the fanbase since her reveal it has worked very well. Gil and Suvi's VA's are objectively less famous than Dormer, and with three weeks to go if they get similar reveals i'd eat my hat. While i'd love the other crew mates to hold equal importance to the squad mates or even Dr. Lexi, I don't believe they've shown us anything that helps me believe that truthfully. There has been lots of information on twitter about subtle personality quirks of characters like Peebee. Whilst some crew mates, who may be the only on ship romance options for certain orientations, weren't even formally revealed to us by the devs.

As long as you get as much content as if you chose the sexual route, I'm fine with it. I would prefer a romance where it explicitely doesn't happen or left ambiguous focusing on the romance part, but if treated equally it being a choice option is good too. I think some romances could benefit from that being a choice, like I think Dorian is touched that you want to be with him but not have sex yet because that shows you love him for him and not just his body.
