No. At best, there will be passing references and mentions of Shepard as a "he" or "she." The likelihood of Shepard being integral to the plot in any way, shape, or form is almost 0%. Andromeda is a soft reboot of the franchise that's supposed to be appealing to newcomers to the franchise. The last thing BioWare will do is bring a lot of content from the previous trilogy that newcomers won't understand. There are plenty of references to pre-ME3 events in ME:A, confirmed by Macdogg in his Game Informer interview. One thing I just don't get is why people are insistent on labelling a story within the current ME Universe as a reboot of any kind, it's never been called that by BioWare and it's not backed up by any retcons of information/lore/events. The only thing that's been changed is the addition of AI information to the official ME timeline, which is necessary, since it didn't exist prior to being created. Unless you call a story within the current canon universe a reboot....then well, good on ya lol. I'm not saying it's a reboot, but it's definitely aliens - Ambassador Molari, B5.

Apparently according to IGN and Gamespot, your choice of gender has the following impact:
Choose Sheploo: forced to play the plastic haired manlet. Every one is greeted with "Yo, Brah" instead of their name. All female character's outfits have cleavage windows and bum cracks. The camera defaults to showing their arses during every cutscene. Ryder expresses no emotion apart from either stoic gazes or at best a single manly tear.
Choose Femshep: forced to play the ugly one. Everyone is greeted by their correct sexual orientation pronoun. Hot lesbian sex. New dialogue trees enabled exploring 'feelings'. Every inventory screen for armour require 6 confirmations for the selected armour before returning you back to the initial selection with the message 'are you sure? No it's fine, of course we have plenty of time why hurry it's not like we've been doing this for hours already'

Codex entry for Commander Shepard in Mass Effect: Andromeda: "Commander Shepard became one the Alliances most revered soldiers, being both the first human Spectre, and defeating Saren and the Reaper Soverign during the battle for the Citadel. The Commander has also become famous for having sexual relations - or "Banging" as some people prefer - with many humans and aliens all throughout the galaxy. Many have attempted to top the Commander in this aspect but few have yet to come close. The Commander is also quite famous for causing blunt force trauma to reporters, out drinking most non-Krogan races, and poor dancing skills." In addition: "Commander Shepard is also known for spending a great deal of time in his/her private cabin aboard the Normandy, with numerous copies of Fornax, space hamster, and semi-animated Husk head. When asked about this, Commander Shepard replied 'hey, Cerberus isn't the only entity performing important research. And, don't ask James Vega anything. He lies. A lot.' We can only conclude it is a likely truth, and even space heroes have their own dark side to entertain."

Mass Effect: Andromeda is to introduce new people to the franchise. All games did this, of course, but it is much more important in MEA than it has been for ME2 and ME3.
Ryder, in fact, is our 'James'. The protagonist is now the newbie and we learn things through being them.
So we learn about Shepard's ME1 stuff and maybe ME2 rumors and ME3 hints.
Beyond that, dunno. But my point is that much of MEA is just there to get a new 'generation' of gamers interested and excited in the series. This means not necessitating knowledge of the past games, and not constantly relating to the past games, but ALSO reviewing and explaining and potentially even elaborating on past games.
Bioware can decide whether to revisit Milky Way, Shepard, whatever, in DLC or the next game. I'm not saying we will or won't see anything to do with them. I'm just saying that MEA is a fresh start and that means not necessitating knowledge of the past. But the good news is that MEA will absolutely review much of the trilogy for new players' sakes. It is clear that there's enough Mass Effect Trilogy-ing going on that its world mattered in the setting, even if it may not constantly matter a lot in this one game's plot (dunno about sideplots, DLC).

Unless you call a story within the current canon universe a reboot....then well, good on ya lol. I'm not saying it's a reboot, but it's definitely aliens - Ambassador Molari, B5. It should be noted that my comment was in reference specifically to "Shepard." Obviously, there are going to be references to the original trilogy, such as all of the council races that are with you in Andromeda... There's also the fact that the Nexus will have its own codex section that will likely be dedicated to mostly original trilogy lore. Also, is "Macdogg" Javy? A "soft reboot" isn't literally a reboot. There is a difference. All it means is that the game, in essence, is starting from scratch. That doesn't mean everything that has come before is null and void. Andromeda is a soft reboot because it will be in a different galaxy and will have nothing to do with the story of Shepard, which really is the entirety of the original trilogy.

Would be cool if it was revealed that Alec Ryder was Shepard's instructor during N7 training. Alec: "I wasn't surprised when I heard Shepard became humanity's first SpecTRe, (s)he was the best marine I ever trained." Scott & Sarah:

Alec Ryder is certainly old enough to have been Shepard's superior. They probably did know each other, given how exclusive the N7 Program is.

I always think it crazy the amount of people who don't want any mention of Shepard or the original trilogy. How is it even possible, all these people just don't pop into existence with absolutely no past, in Andromeda. When they wake up it will be like they just left the Milky Way, of course they're going to be mentions of "current" (past) events in the Milky Way, and about Shepard, well by the time they left, the whole damn galaxy knew who she was. I still don't get how people expect no mention of the trilogy.

I imagine there may be a small reference or something similar to how we could visit the crash site of the first Normandy. Otherwise, the half a millennial jump into the future more or less makes Shepard's heroics a forgotten afterthought. I wouldn't even be surprised people in Andromeda thought Shepard's legacy was a myth in the same vein no one believed The Reapers existed.

You are aware that the people in Andromeda were all alive at the same time as Shepard? They all entered cryo-stasis for the journey so for everyone from the Milky Way, by the time they arrive in Andromeda, it will feel as if they've only just left the MW. Saren's attack on the Citadel is going to be fresh in everyone's memories.

The arks leave between ME2 and ME3, so Shepard is already a galactic war hero by that time (whether they know Shepard is alive or dead at this point).

OP made this thread because it was revealed that the CC in ME:A asks what gender Shepard was, obviously some people are wondering to what extent Shepard is going to be referenced in the game. You couldn't figure that out?

I want Ryder to buy a Shepard Vi in a Nexus giftshop that can be programed. Outside it are kids talking about how there Vi is the real Shep. What he/she is like, who he/she romanced etc. Then Ryder after buying the Vi rolls up on the kids and goes; "Hey nerds this is the real Shep!" You then go through 20 dialogue choices setting exactly how ur Shep headcannon was. The kids get amazed then you can activate ur Shep Vi anytime you want in ur cabin on the Tempest.

I didn't hear it from Giant Bomb, it was a video/article from Eurogamer on Thursday Link. I guess I am a little out of date. Only seen three: Game Informer, AI Briefing and another one... don't remember title off top of head. "Link." Uhh, no, I'm not your slave. Why don't you just look at Eurogamer's recent articles or videos on ME:A and I'm sure you'd find it. Why do I have to go find it for you?
