Why are their so many afraid cucks here? MEA has exactly the same system requirements as battlefield 1. Go look it up for yourself if you don't believe me. The game is graphically and technically inferior to battlefield so either they bloated the requirements and are being lazy again to post real specs or the game is unoptimized which is likely to be true.

Did a test on BF1. Got some results to share. Don't know how this compares to MEA, but might be some good info for some: Again, specs in sig. Note to self: change the BIOS so the fans don't always run at 100%

Did another test with just a single GPU. I think the lowest dip was down to 48 fps. This is @1440p Max settings with a single 980, so people with a 970 @1080p are going to have zero problems running MEA at Max settings getting solid 60fps if BF1 is at all comparable to MEA.

Meet the recommended specs for everything but my CPU which is barely scrubbing past minimum, do ya'll suppose it'll be a big bottleneck?

Meet the recommended specs for everything but my CPU which is barely scrubbing past minimum, do ya'll suppose it'll be a big bottleneck? Single core performance is what you looking for in most gaming applications. So you can easily find SC benchmarks of your CPU and the recommended one and see just how much difference there really is. Anyway for gaming it's much more damning to have GPU not up to snuff than CPU. Take a look at this guy playing around with his CPU performance to create a bottleneck, it's really hard. You'll be fine.

Hmm, how does a GTX 1060 compare to the GTX 970? I have a Gigabyte Gaming G1 GTX 970 that's super overclocked, so I wonder how that compares in benchmarks to the 1060? At least the 970 has an extra 0.5 GB of VRAM I'm hoping to hit very high, if not ultra settings, with my build @ 1080p : CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k @ 4 GHz GPU: Gigabyte Gaming G1 GTX 970 RAM: 16 GB I think the 1060 is supposed to be slightly superior to the 980 base. I don't really know the 970 too much, with all that problem Nvidia had with the 970s (or was it the 960s?) memories. Still, I think you'll be fine, you have a pretty good CPU and enough ram. I believe is possible to max out the game with those specs. How much VRAM does that 970 of yours have, btw? My 970 technically has 4 GB of VRAM, though tests have shown this to be really 3.5 GB of standard VRAM, and 0.5 GB of very slow substandard VRAM. For all intents and purposes, I have 3.5 GB of VRAM, which is still higher than the recommended VRAM amount of 3 GB, so I feel somewhat safe at least.

Your FPS might drop a bit, but the GPU is where most of the hard work is done for these games. OR you can get a new MOBO and CPU since that is starting to see its age. I would highly recommend looking into the RyZen CPUs from AMD. They have great prices for what you get compared to Intel.

Difference in performance is there but not THAT much. I certainly will not spend my money on upgrading my 970 to 1060. It's not worth it

Yeah you'll be fine with that I think. Thank you. One more question. I am intending on a default of 1152x864 resolution to play... don't really care so much for HD -SD is fine with me. So with these specs what level of graphics should I go with: low, med, high, ultra.... With a 970 at 1152x864, you can definitely play at ultra, and get great framerates. People install some games on SSDs rather than a mechanical hard drive, to improve texture streaming and avoid pop-in; I've never tried this myself so I don't know how effective it is. Apart from that, it's a good idea to watch out for memory/CPU hogs working in the background, like 120+ browser tabs.

I will be sure to close down my plethora of browser tabs from at least three multiple instances of Firefox, Opera, Netscape Navigator and Avant each running simultaneous. My number of tabs -like your computers' most likely be in the low to middle hundreds.

your 1050ti is pretty similar performance wise to the minimum spec 660. You will probably still run mostly high settings but may need to ratchet down a tad I7 is totes overkill btw, wish they'd stop recommending them for just gaming. your cpu is stronk Thank you! I figured the i7 was a lot considering how far my i5 has gotten me but seeing it just made me nervous. And I'm hoping the 1050ti will get me at least some highs since I've recently updated from the 750. The GTX 1050 Ti 'somewhat' a successor to the well received GTX 750 Ti. In my opinion it should provide you with steady FPS on high settings when playing on FHD, just don't enable advanced settings like Ambient Occlusion or advanced versions of antialiasing.

Why guess when you can google. Difference in performance is there but not THAT much. I certainly will not spend my money on upgrading my 970 to 1060. It's not worth it GTX 970 does have 4 GB VRAM, problem is once it hits demand over 3,5 GB, that latter 0,5 GB VRAM is there to provide support, but it slows down the overall performance of the 970 in return. It still should operate better, than a supposed GTX 970 with only 3,5 GB VRAM. In any case, I had this card up until recently and I agree there is no point to upgrade to GTX 1060, IF you have GTX 970. The difference seems to be only about ~15 % in favor of GTX 1060 and overclocking your GTX 970 diminishes that advantage even more. Going to GTX 1060 is great option for people with GPUs like GTX 750 Ti, GTX 960 2 GB VRAM, even GTX 960 4 GB VRAM. But GTX 970 users and above should ignore GTX 1060, their best entry upgrade point is GTX 1070 or higher. That is my take on it and now its time for some more coffee. Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And for people who don't have a PC yet and are about to build their first one, simple guideline: Sweet spot for 1080p: get GTX 1060 Sweet spot for 1440p: get GTX 1070.

We still have no info on how well optimized the game is and its not looking good, honestly. Could be hard to play on any PC for the first week or so.

Well I have to confess to disappointment. I was looking forward to Andromeda and played DA:I with no problems, but the specs seem to leave my computer in the dust. My video card is an AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series with 1 GB RAM and my processor is an AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 975 Processor, 3600 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s). Every thing else meets the minimums. But baring a new computer it looks like I am out. Oh well I was late to the game anyway and only played ME1,2 and 3 for the first time last year. So in a few years when I get my next computer I'll give it a shot. At least I'll save the $70+ dollars.
You folks have a great time playing the game.

Hi everyone, I am wondering if I will be able to play the new generation of Mass Effect since my computer is pretty old now, and I can't get another right now (I'm disabled on a fixed income). Are there any tricks beyond lowering the graphics settings that could help?
Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU Intel Core i3 3220 @ 3.30GHz Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 668MHz (9-9-9-24) Graphics SMBX2331 (1920x1080@60Hz) 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)
