I'd go for an nvidia 1050 instead, it's slightly faster for the same money. If you can squeeze in a tiny bit more, the 1050ti absolutely smoked the 460 in Battlefield 1, so I'd expect similar in Andromeda. Somebody did some good comparative benchmarks here: www.quora.com/Which-is-better-The-RX-460-or-the-GTX-1050-and-why

Well I have to confess to disappointment. I was looking forward to Andromeda and played DA:I with no problems, but the specs seem to leave my computer in the dust. My video card is an AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series with 1 GB RAM and my processor is an AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 975 Processor, 3600 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s). Every thing else meets the minimums. But baring a new computer it looks like I am out. Oh well I was late to the game anyway and only played ME1,2 and 3 for the first time last year. So in a few years when I get my next computer I'll give it a shot. At least I'll save the $70+ dollars. You folks have a great time playing the game. I don't want to give you false hope, but it might be possible that the game will still run on lowest possible settings and resolution lower than 1920x1080. More important thing is probably system RAM, if you have 4GB or less game might not work.

Hi everyone, I am wondering if I will be able to play the new generation of Mass Effect since my computer is pretty old now, and I can't get another right now (I'm disabled on a fixed income). Are there any tricks beyond lowering the graphics settings that could help? Operating System Windows 10 Home 64-bit CPU Intel Core i3 3220 @ 3.30GHz Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 668MHz (9-9-9-24) Graphics SMBX2331 (1920x1080@60Hz) 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner) The GPU and RAM meets minimum specs, but the problem might be the i3 core CPU when minimum is i5 core or fx six core AMD.

Yeah, that's a card that will definitely play the game. The other card I would think about getting would be the GTX 1050. they Swap a lot in terms of benchmarks. I suggest really shopping around for both these cards.. the GTX 1050 might get you a few more FPS because its a bit better of a card.

System Requirements Labs says I won't be able to play. Can anyone confirm or deny? I can't justify buying a new PC at the moment. Wife would kill me. So am I gonna have to wait on Andromeda?

Not a big deal I guess. At least at that time all the guides will be out so I will know how to get the best ending I want.

Thank you all for your kind answers, I definitely consider them all. I'm happy to know I'm on the right track without bankrupting myself.
Edit: I ordered the 1050, I decided it was a good choice. Thank you all again!

lukensen87, I have 8 gb of system RAM and 1 gb on the card. If the game would run I wouldn't really mind running it on the lowest settings. But I don't want to spend the money just to find out that it doesn't run.

I call nonsense! My GTX 760 kicks the hell out of this game! Also 16 GB of ram requirement is preposterous!

What if the CPU and RAM requirements are suspiciously high ... because the PC version is just the PS4 version running on top of a virtual machine?

What if the CPU and RAM requirements are suspiciously high ... because the PC version is just the PS4 version running on top of a virtual machine? That's actually true for most PC games these days. Just grab de console version, slap an API on top of it and a "HD" texture pack and some extra post processing effects (if even that) and call it a day. PC games are not optimized properly at all.

Now that you mention it, I'm gonna try and run the game in a VM for the heck of it On what system? On the Mac there's a virtualization software (Parallels Desktop) that comes with directx compatible GPU emulation -- when I last used it 4 years ago, it supported directx 9.x. I actually played a couple playthroughs of ME2 in a virtual machine on my Mac at medium-low settings because I was too lazy to dual boot. On Linux it's possible to set up GPU 'passthrough', and assign the physical video card to a virtual machine (KVM/QEMU). It's a bit of a hack, because nvidia doesn't support it on their consumer models. The results are hit and miss; some people are very satisfied, but in my experience the hassle wasn't really worth it. The emulated storage controller becomes a bottleneck even when you're using a dedicated HDD (not a virtualized drive on a file); so there's ridiculous amounts of texture pop-in, and framerates are all over the place.

I've got my OS and games on separate SSD's, it's made a massive difference. Can't recommend it enough.
I can run Rise of the Tomb Raider with tressfx turned on and everything on Ultra at 1680x1050 with only occasional slow down (usually when first entering one of the huge areas like the gulag and it decides to render to the moon and back).
Example of it running (fraps is knocking a few fps off):
So I'm not overly worried at all.

Well, it should work on my laptop. Medium to low settings for now. I have i7 processor and 12 gb Ram memory but video card is weak. I'm going to buy myself a PC but I'm still saving money. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Good luck. If you played DA:I with your laptop, ME:A should play with those settings. Expect, Ken plastic hair though. My PC played DA:I well enough.

Well, I just order the 1080FTW2 from EVGA this morning at 9 am Eastern...I hope it arrives on or before March 21st because that is the day that I want to leave for Andromeda! I don't want to miss my flight out...There's been a bunk with my name on it since "Pre-ordering" started. Im gonna miss my 2 980 FTWs though...they've been amazing cards in every way. Here's hoping my tears will be dried quickly by the performance of the new 1080FTW2...

So I was reading about adding more memory (it's been years since I had to add RAM to a pc) and it seems like it's a better bet to just buy 2 new (2x8gb) than add 2 (2x4gb) to what I have now because of possible compatibility issues. Am I understanding this correctly? Edit: Also, I can run DAI on med-high settings with no trouble. Tessellation, shadow, terrain, and vegetation are the 4 things at med, everything else is high. Am I really going to have that much trouble running MEA?

Though it's possible to find the same ram you have currently CPU-Z is a free download, and the SPD tab can give you your part number
