Yes, better go for 2x8GB than combining 2x4GB with your current RAM, it will work nicely in dual channel mode If it was that cheap to throw out your old rams and get 2 new rams. You can always sell your old RAM for some cash, besides I just answered her question, she did not mention anything about costs etc.

Obviously it's more expensive to get 2 new 8gb, but I knew that from looking at things. It's worth it to me to try and avoid problems.

How are prices in Italy? Do they multiply the US list prices by an arbitrary large coefficient, and call it a day? That's what resellers in Turkey seem to do.

I paied 850 € for the gtx1080 and for the predator X34 the guy from the shop told me he will call me monday for the exact price because at saturday their supplier is closed but he tipped me it will be around 1200-1300 €

For those of us who are looking at new system builds, how do you folks feel about timing? Wait and see how prices shape up after Ryzen? I'm actually leaning towards seeing what shows up in the used markets after that. But at the price points where I like to live, I suppose I won't be seeing much change until the full line is out.

In the past these things used to be obscenely more expensive; I believe consoles & console games still are, due to unreasonable tax rates.

I have the following setup:
64-bit Windows 10 AMD FX-8350 8-core 4,01 GHz 8 GB RAM (going to upgrade to 16) Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 (two of them) SLI
Will this be alright?

Spend as much as you can, don't try to save money. The more you spend now the more long lived your components will be (execpt for broken stuff), instead of being forced to do an upgrade every 2 years with high end components you can last 3 or 4 years.

The discussion surrounding minimum requirements for PC have been of the lowest level. To see these requirements released, as exactly what a console could handle, is fucking hilarious. Why? Because 10 million I told you so's wouldn't matter, and still don't, because people believe their beliefs, rather than facing reality. The game was made for consoles. Question asked and answered, please move on. Don't really see where you're going with this. A console is just a PC with a clunky interface and a lousy control setup, after all. It is. That is exactly my point. The game was literally made to work on a shitty PC, and so it will actually work on a shitty PC. There were several alarmists on these forums that were claiming the minimum requirements would be astronomically high, and anyone with a grain of sense knew that was obviously false.

The game was literally made to work on a shitty PC, and so it will actually work on a shitty PC. There were several alarmists on these forums that were claiming the minimum requirements would be astronomically high, and anyone with a grain of sense knew that was obviously false. Games are designed for consoles, therefore games are designed for shitty pcs is a false equivalence. For one thing, PCs require quite a bit more horsepower to run a game on top of everything else they have to keep a check on, compared to consoles that come with extremely streamlined, minimal OSs. Also, because games are usually written with consoles in mind, they're ported to Windows/Linux/Mac, etc., which involves, at the very least, writing some sort of communication layer between whatever graphics API the console is using, and the operating system of the PC. Sometimes they even need to translate calls to the graphics API, e.g. from directx to opengl. That job, however, is almost always done in a hurry, and is sometimes outsourced to people who may not even be 100% competent. The result is inefficient code; so the user has to throw more resources at it to make it run on par with weaker consoles.

I've got a not exactly related question. I've ordered my new rig, but it may not arrive before launch. I want to preorder to get the bonuses. Since I've only ever purchases physical discs previously, how does the digital download work. Do I have to initiate it or does it do so automatically. Since I want to install it on the new rig and not the piece of goushi I'm using as a stopgap.

The game automatically appears in the 'library' once purchased, but you need to download it yourself. There might be an option for automatic downloads (I can't check now); but I'm certain it's not the default.

I'm actually leaning towards seeing what shows up in the used markets after that. But at the price points where I like to live, I suppose I won't be seeing much change until the full line is out. The flagship Ryzen processors launch in less than a week (official release is March 2nd), at this point you might as well wait. It'll probably take a few weeks for any universal price shifts for off-the-shelf parts, but the used market will probably see changes fairly quickly.

Quick question about that list (so I can understand how to "read" it): How much of a difference in the passmark should there be before an upgrade is worthwhile (as opposed to throwing away money for a marginal upgrade)? For example, the recommended card (GeForce GTX 1060) is in the high 8,000 range. Would that mean it's not really worth upgrading any of the cards within the 8,000 bracket?

Do you think they'll consider shipping on 40,050 floppy disks? That would be 192,238 Cassette Tapes (45 mins. on each side), at 150KB each (readable by the Commodore 64). The casing would occupy at least about 2.3m 3 (from ~121cm 3 per case); don't know about the weight though.
