My components:
I5 4690K @ 4.7GHz 16 GB DDR3 RAM MSI 1060 Gaming X 6GB overclocked by about 120 mhz (memory OC about +500 mhz) Win 10 64 bit
So I'll be trying out ultra settings at first and scale down if I have to. We'll see.

I normally use 4.3 on a i5 6600K (using Corsair Hydro Series H80i), I know my Skylake can reach 4.5 so that's what I'll be using for MEA.

Well, I've seen reports of people getting above 5GHz on water using the Devil's Canyon CPU family so they are overclocking like mad. Nuts really. But yeah, I must say I'm happy with it.

Wow that sounds badass. Would love to get that cpu, but then I would have to replace my motherboard & cpu, and I just bought
that and the i5 6600K. Hmm Devil's Canyon I5 4690K, thanks for the info now I have something to look forward to in the future.

EDIT: I did not see the 1000 different in the number (4690 vs. 6600) so please just ignore what I said,
but still that i5 4690K for a somewhat older CPU is a real badass for being able to hit 4.7 GHz and all that.

I believe if you got the 4690K it would be a step back for you. Regardless of frequency the 6600K is a newer CPU than the 4690K and supports better DDR4 memory and so on. Your system is faster and a better performer than mine I'm sure. I'm happy to be able to squeeze all the performance I can from my system until I decide it is time to upgrade. (Bear in mind my system is 2.5 years old, the only upgrade I've done was upgrading the graphics cars from a 770 to the 1060 last september so it must be older than yours)

I think just come out I believe. My system is pretty new, parts and all. Had the hardware stored in a spare bedroom for a few months before I finally built my pc.
EDIT: Now planning to replace my cpu (i5 6600K) with a i5 7600K and get a Asus Z270 brand motherboard in the future (well in a year or two that is) so me likes.

Yeah, Kaby Lake chips in general will clock to the moon and back. If you're even remotely lucky, you should have no problem getting a 7600K to 4.8-4.9, with a fair number of people being able to hit 5+ on water.
After looking at a lot of the day one data for Ryzen, it's a complete reversal of the situation a few years ago where AMD clocked absurdly high and Intel couldn't due to differences in architecture and platform maturity.

Sounds like a good plan, but keep in mind that we have no idea what the x86 market will look like, even at this time next year. It's possible that the 7600K will still be a good buy, but it's also possible that it may be eclipsed by the upcoming 8-series chips from Intel, or the lower-end Ryzen units set to launch later this year. It's been a long time since Intel has had anyone biting at their heels, so I wouldn't be too surprised to start seeing more substantial generational improvements again. Also it's worth remembering that Intel has a nasty habit of changing sockets every two or three years (which is about how long we've been on the current LGA-1151), so if future upgrade paths matter, that may impact your decision. So in short, the 7600K is a good processor and there's no problem with planning to use it in a future build, but I would advise against getting too attached to the idea of using it at this point.

Thank you Pearl for your thoughts on this since I was unsure myself (I was having second thoughts about buying that cpu), but at the moment
I'm just going to hold off buying that i5 7600K and see what the future holds in store for Intel, that would be my best option by far right now.

I was planning to get i7-7700K, but when I saw it's hotter on the same air cooling I went with i7-6700k (also cost was less) and I overclocked it to ''save'' 4.5GHz with 1.300v and temps are fine at stress (65-73 C*), I might try 4.6 or even 4.7GHz, but honestly I don't see a point to do it.. I have 14600k points in 3DMark physics test, when I had fx-8350 I had something about 7500k, I'm very happy

I may be able to upgrade it at least to 8gbs (max), so I don't have much to worry on that aspect. It might work on lowest settings just like some other games do on my pc, but I don't know. I'll just have to wait and see.

Curious, what's your take on the 1080Ti? Having just bought and received the FTW2 (and ordering from EVGA at $1.35 CDN plus Duty and Taxes wasn't cheap lemme tell you)....I am utterly amazed at the performance of this new card. And I can see where the Ti is even more of an improvement--but at the rate I just talked about....you're looking at between 1500 and 2000 to start (for what I assume is simply a FE/Reference card). That's a hefty price tag. I think I'll stick with my FTW2...But what's your nickel's worth? The FTW2 is an excellent card that will serve you well for years to come. However, if you decide you really want to have a 1080 Ti, look into EVGA's Step Up program, where you send EVGA your current card and a check for the difference in price between the two, and they send you the upgrade that you request from them. It sounds like you might qualify, but ultimately the decision is yours. Personally, I would wait for the card to be released so reviewers and users alike can run benchmarks on it, and see exactly how it compares to the regular 1080. Keep in mind that the card was only announced last night, so we don't know exactly when companies like EVGA will be able to release their own versions of it. Morning, Pearl. THank you for your replies to my posts. I have enjoyed reading your feedback and engaging in this dialogue. I just read that EVGA is due to release the "GTX 1080Ti FTW v. 3 w/ iCX Cooling" soon and it actually now has a Gigabyte-esque 3-fan design, which looks odd on an EVGA card since for years we are used to seeing their familiar dual-fan designs...But it does look pretty cool and the specs and performance, I can only imagine would be as much of a step up from the FTW2 or FTW as the 980 Ti version was....Yet there also comes the price hike and premium, which based on current dollar-vaue calculations I can only guess that it would be very nearly or dead-on 2000.00 CDN dollars. That is one hell of an expensive card. And to think that by next Summer or Fall 2018 it too will be obselete because of Volta....really makes me shutter. But you have to stop and think "As advanced as the tech and features are in every new release....Do we REALLY truly need it for (whatever games) we play or whatever else we do?" We have to draw the line somewhere and simply enjoy whatever system configuration we have, else we will never be able to keep up with all the latest and greatest technology, because the money alone will be cripplingly prohibitive unless you're a millionaire. I mean, look at how long it has taken for games to become as demanding as they are. It took most of the last decade for Designers to actually start "Recommending" the use of quadcore processors over dualcore. And it has only been within the last two or three years, by my estimate, that games have begun actually using 3gb of VRam so 4 was the magic number since about 2013-15ish....I mean when I bought my last GTX980 games were still barely using 2 to 3 GB of VRAM....How long will it take to actually make use of the staggering 8GB or the 11GB on the TI?

I'm considering upgrading to the "Ryzen 7 1700"; will it be enough to run the game on ultra-- with a negligible loss to fps?

Not by itself no, you need a graphics card Seriously, without knowing your other system components it is almost impossible to answer that question. Also, are you gonna play in 1080p, 1440p or 4K? What I've seen of that CPU is pretty good but not mind blowingly so frame rate wise.

I barely managed to play Inquisition in ultra with this and my "i3-2100". With the Ryzen, i'd also buy 16gb ram.

My guess is you will manage high settings on 1080p if you have the 7870. If it is the 7850 1GB you will most likely have to settle with medium or even low settings. Even with the CPU upgrade. Only a guess though as it depends on how hard the game is on the CPU.

I'm planning to play in 1080p. My GPU isn't too good though, it's a "AMD RADEON HD 7800 series". I barely managed to play Inquisition in ultra with this and my "i3-2100". With the Ryzen, i'd also buy 16gb ram. I'd say ultra settings is a long shot. I'd be quite surprised if you managed to get to ultra with that card. My guess is you will manage high settings on 1080p if you have the 7870. If it is the 7850 1GB you will most likely have to settle with medium or even low settings. Even with the CPU upgrade. This certainly ought to be interesting; particularly, since i have a budget of barely eight-hundred dollars .
Thanks for the answer, anyhow.

Thanks for the answer, anyhow. if you're worried about the budget and can wait a couple more months, consider the cheaper R5 Ryzen CPUs as well; particularly the 1600x looks like it will be better for gaming because of its higher base clock vs. more cores in the R7 series. But even if you go with the 1700 I think 800$ will be quite enough to build a PC that will run the game smoothly at 1080p. It doesn't have to be a 500$ card

Hi.
I already posted here the specifications of my laptotp and I received a positive response to the fact that I can run this game in the minimum configurations.
But I just remembered that I tried to run Mirror Edge 2 without success. It stopped there at 20 fps.
My question: If the same thing happens with Andromeda, is it too risky to use NVidia Inspector to overclock my video card? Never did that.
intel core i5-5200U 2.2ghz 8GB DDR3 L Nvidia Geforce 920M 2GB.
