Oh crap! My processor is only an i5 750 running at 2.6 GHz. Don't think that will cut it for this game if the minimum specs are for a 3 GHz processor. [Edit] Extra Specs: RAM: 12 GB Video Card: GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Don't sweat it. Its still Intel CPU and like someone already mentioned - frequency isnt everything (looking at you, AMD). I think you will play just fine one 1080p, but may experience some bottlenecks in combat intensive areas or where a lot of physics is calculated (floating debris everywhere ect.) What? Ryzen have low base frequency and still is a good CPU, if it would be clocked the same as i7-7700k it would be the best CPU in the market

But everything before that... gives me the chills.

The other CPU's are so old that no one cares about them now Also in the past AMD did have low frequency CPU's (Athlons 64 if I remember correctly) and they were great, even Intel was chasing them with high clocked Pentium but without success

I think the R5 is going to be the sweet spot for pushing Ryzen on gamers. Even then, it doesn't look like performance is going to blow Intel out of the water, but instead have a p nice price to performance ratio when compared to intel.
GPU is supposed to be doing the heavy lifting anyways, and you probably won't see much stress on CPU unless you're aiming for 100+ frames at 1080p.

Like I think some of it is used for cloth, but even stuff like hairworks and turbulence (fog/smoke) is it's own thing. That said, I would say it's possible we might see some neat stuff, but I would think NVidia would have been pimping out the fact Mass Effect used these features during GDC.

Erm
Looks like turbulence is part of APEX, which may be part of PhysX, but I'm not even sure
This a bit out of my knowledge

So, Battlefield 1 have the same ones. I think the specs are overrated, mostly for the CPU. In "Can you run it" it told me I couldn't run the game on minimum reqs cause of my CPU. Did a quick test run. Ultra - steady 60 fps. I think I'm settled.

Well, I feel kinda stupid now... This is just what came up when I googled for the official BioWare Mass Effect forums... Apparently they don't have any official forums anymore? It's all handled by EA now? Well, that's just fucking great

I'll just ask you one thing. What part of "Unofficial" do you not understand? Well that's a great way to welcome someone who, not unreasonably, thought these were the official forums. I tend to moderate myself online using Wheaton's Law. Try it.

I currently have i5-3570K 3.40GHz. Would that be enough for high settings or only for medium settings?

It's all handled by EA now? Well, that's just fucking great ok, we seem to have got off to a bad start: - Welcome randomuser , to all intents and purposes this forum operates pretty much like the old official forum, it's just that the inmates have the keys
- Although we're unofficial, we know a fair amount of stuff, or can point you in the right direction.
- Specifically you might be able to get your question answered at EA Answers which remains as a customer support hub:
answers.ea.com/t5/Mass-Effect-Andromeda/ct-p/mass-effect-andromeda-en - And I'm going to move this discussion to the 'unofficial' Technical Support thread.

Yeah, it's the AMD Radeon HD 7800 series but that one is definitely going to be changed for better one before the game comes out. It was the cpu that got me worried.

It's good to hear that. I'm going to leave that out from the list of things that I need to upgrade, then. The new graphics card and a bigger SSD drive are going to make a nice hole into my wallet already. I'll just leave the cpu for a later day then. Thank you.

While I have suggested before that you might be able to save some money by finding a kit just like your current one, it probably is best to just do the full upgrade of 2x8gb. Having a bad ram socket isn't all that uncommon, and at least you know your 2 current ones work. As far as speed goes....not really. Your web browsing experience may increase a bit, but it might not even be noticeable. If you don't want to go super low end just incase, them maybe try to find a CL9 set of 1866, and make sure you enable your new ram speed via the XMP section of bios. It's not uncommon for boards to first recognize ram as 1333 even though they're rated for higher

No worries, have fun with your new hardware hunting. If you haven't decided on a gpu yet, then I would advice looking at either the rx480 or gtx 1060, both with 4+ GB of VRAM if you can swing it. Anything less and you might be looking at high-very high settings at 60fps (At 1080p) instead. Which I mean, is still good, but if you're spending money anyways, ya know?

Seems the most straight forward.

Kinda what I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU. I have a gtx 660 and was just going to go to a 1050 but for like an extra 60 bucks I can get the 1060 and I'm future proofed on games for the next 6 years easily.

If I just upgrade straight out would it make a difference getting more MHz than 1600 if I'm just playing games? Not for DDR3, no. Generally upgrading RAM isn't something you do to increase the performance of your system (although with newer CPUs that use DDR4, it can have a more pronounced effect than it has in the past), rather it's something that's done when your current amount of RAM is no longer sufficient for what you want to do.

So is it even worth it to go from 8 to 16? Like I don't really notice a performance issue. But I do want to upgrade my GPU and thought that it would be helpful there.

Well, now that you mentioned it... I'm not the most tech savvy person but I managed to narrow down my gpu candidates to following... GeForce GTX 1060 Asus Dual 3GB GeForce GTX 1060 Asus Dual 6GB Radeon RX 480 Asus Dual OC 4GB Radeon RX 480 Asus Dual OC 8GB My budget for the GPU is 300 euros. One site had the GeForce GTX 1060 Asus Dual 3GB on sale with 249 euros. One thing I appreciate when it comes to GPU is for it not being very noisy. Also I'm not quite sure how big of a difference the GB size makes. I just can't seem to be able to decide which of the four GPUs is the best one, so any recommendations would be welcome.
