Reporting in with the following specs: Core i5 750 overclocked at 3.6 GHz, circa 2009 16 GB RAM Radeon HD 7870 Graphics on medium 1080p. I get on average 50-60 fps in outdoor locations, I've seen it go down to 40 fps in combat. Not bad at all... getting a geforce 1060 on monday though, will crank up the graphics and update this to report on how it works out with that CPU. So far it's not bottlenecking or anything, about 50% use during play. The Radeon HD 7879 is roughly equivalent to the GTX 760, right? Or if not, which one is superior? I've looked but there doesn't seem to be a clear answer

I've had this rig since May 2012 and the only upgrade I've done has been to add an extra 8 GB RAM this month. Windows 7 64-bit AMD FX-8350 Eight Core, 4 GHz AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (7880 if I recall correctly, I don't have the box on hand) 16 GB RAM DDR3 DirectX 11 Other games work, both from Steam and Origin. Have you updated your video drivers lately? There's a new AMD video driver out just a couple of days ago that I updated. Note that the driver I got was NON-WHQL and I'm running a newer vid card on Win 10. www.pcgamer.com/amd-rolls-out-1732-drivers-bound-for-andromeda/If you do update, do a clean install and make a restore point in case you have to roll back the driver. (I usually do a backup before I install major programs, OS updates and some driver updates.) HTHsupport.amd.com/en-us/downloadI checked the driver version out and it seems like the kit I installed last week wasn't actually the newest one. Must have missed this. I installed the new one but still no difference. I can deal with no solution being found now, I can wait until launch, I guess. I'm just worried this will also happen at launch and I will be less patient and considerate then (70 EUR for the full game is a whole other thing than 4 EUR for early access).

My settings are: GPU: GeForce GTX 770 CPU: I7-4790 Memory: 7.95 GB Ram With Windows 7. What sort of performance should I be expecting here? And what sort of upgrades can you recommend to help me achieve higher stats. Is it best to buy another 8gigs of memory or get rid of whats in there and buy a 16gig one. Same with video card, should I just go all in and get a 500-600+ card or just a 250-300 one and dual that with the 770? First off, you cannot "dual" anything unless it is another 770 (in SLI). You would be better off buying a 480 or 1060 since 770 is very hard to come by nowadays and SLI support can be wonky. I believe you can expect to run the game on low-medium settings. Another 8 GB of RAM wouldn't hurt either but I think that the GPU is a better upgrade. Thanks for the advice, took a quick look at prices of 1060 and more ram, not too bad. With a 1060 and 16gigs would I be looking at high+ or would I need to invest in something more.

i5 6400 8GB RAM Rx 480 8GB 17.3.2 Exactly the same performance at all resolutions and all settings, except Ultra. CPU is bottlenecking my system but CPU is not at 100%, it is stucked at 60/70% usage :/. This problem is exactly the same that a lot of people had in the first weeks of BF1. I have seen a couple of videos and many CPUs got the same problem, are always at 60/70% but GPU is at 100%. I'm sure that an Rx 480 can move this game perfectly at medium/high settings (furthermore is the GPU that you put in recomended settings). I will reserve some hours before buy the game to test Day 1 patch and if the performance doesn't improve I won't buy the game. I'm tired to buy bad ports and lose my afternoons finding solutions in forums. It's incredible that I can play GTA V, Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 at 2K 60fps with high settings, and this game can't hold 60fps at 720p... Same thing happening here. The "12% Performance Increase" is BS. Game was running better before I downloaded that stupid driver

I'd say you could try ultra settings with that upgrade. Of course, it depends on a whole range of factors so I can't promise anything but I have the same except an I5 CPU and I get ok framrates at 1080p and ultra settings.

Maybe a bit better because I hear the game is optimized for NVIDIA.

I am so happy my new GPU & Ram came today. They said 4-7 business days and I just ordered it Thursday. Got everything installed (though I finally gave up on the one screw that helps hold the gpu in, the main one is tight so it should be ok), and the pc has booted up and is installing what I am guessing is the drivers for the card. I really really hope everything works right. I have 4 hours left on the trial, so I'm excited to get back into it to see what it looks like now.

Hey all of you AMD R9 people, I wanted to thank you for all of the information you provided about getting the game to run smoother on our video cards. I compiled the information and have been able to smooth the cut scenes a bit, enough to satisfy me for now. I will be purchasing the AMD Vega when it comes out. Its time. I usually upgrade my video card every three years and mine is due to be replaced. I hope the upgraded architecture will allow me to push the graphics all the way to the top. Have a nice one!

Hi all! I created a post with this question before I noticed this thread! Sorry about that! I am running the game on PC and am at or above all min PC requirements (I thing...I am a bit of derp about computers), except that I have 8GM RAM instead of 16. So, when playing the 10-hr trial , I was able to get smooth performance at MEDIUM setting, which is fine. The HIGH setting resulted in frame rate drops. I would like to fiddle with the CUSTOM setting to try to squeeze a bit more texture detail out of this game if I can. However, I have no idea what all the options actually mean (ie, anti-aliasing, etc). Could you guys give me some pointers about stuff I could try to set to LOW, versus stuff I may be able to get away with setting on HIGH? Just looking for some general advice/pointers from folks who know what all those settings actually do and what tends to work well in these types of games. Note - the reason i am asking is because when trying to fiddle with it myself, I have to restart every time and it really ate into my gameplay. I am hoping that when the game goes live, I can attempt to adjust these settings more efficiently based on your thoughts. MANY THANKS! Here are my specs if you need them: OS: Windows 10 Model: Dell Inspiron 7559 Processor: Intel (R) Corm(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz RAM: 8.00 GB 64-Bit NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M

What framerate are you getting on your computer? Your GPU is close to mine --I have the 7970--and I can't get a stable framerate at all. It'll go from mid 50's to mid-40s with some jutters, and then drop down to mid-30s on medium. I'd rather not drop spend money on a 480, but I'm six seconds away from doing it. I tested my System with Fraps an I get 45 - 60 fps .... on "High" Settings. I dont know what happens in very Big Bos Fights .... but 4 now ... I can play without Problems. I played Story until 2nd Planet Eos ... and I played Multiplayer. I think ... I dont look at stable FPS Numbers ... I look at the Game ... And when I can play the Game without Lags / Stutters ... then everything is fine ^^. I dont know the fps on my sons system ... but he has zero Problems ^^ You should be Fine ... Your GPU ist stronger than mine ....gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-280-vs-Radeon-HD-7970Radeon has new Mass Effect optimated Drivers ... 17.3.2 ---- 12% more Peformance !!!support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-Edition-17.3.2-Release-Notes.aspxI need to figure out wtf is going on, then. I have the latest driver, too. I think I need a better benchmarking tool than Fraps, though.

I'm having trouble downloading the game from Origin, at around 12-14% installed i get this error message: Error: The VC++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully. Setup can't continue. (2180251649).
I've tried uninstalling all my old VC++ programs and reinstalled the newest version (2015) from microsofts webpage, but it didn't seem to work. Anyone with any ideas?

I can only get 1600x900 for game resolution even though window resolution is at 1920x1080. Is this a limitation of the trial, of not a fully completed download (I'm at roughly 60%) or of my graphics card?

Okay, so it looks like my issues were due to throttling from my overclock. I reset my GPU to default and I'm getting stable 40-55 FPS on 1080p medium settings and a 55-75 fps on 900p. Dropping it to 720 would no doubt lock me in at a solid 60+, and with vsync, I can lock the game to a solid 1080p30.
So anyone with a 7970-280x, if your card didn't have top of the line cooling when you bought it, I suggest dropping your overclock, either in general, or just for Andromeda. Or if you can spare it, buy a 480. You can get one foe $170 with Jet anf the Triple15 code.

I would appreciate some insight on the following. I'm normally a console gamer, but having recently upgraded to a PC, I'm wondering what would cause this trial of MEA to use almost 100% of my cpu thus not allowing me to play. It opened up in a black screen window instead of full screen.
I was, however, able to play if I hit alt+enter (to switch the window to full mode) and disabled my avg antivirus. It still used 100% of cpu until I got it in fullscreen mode. Then the game ran just fine. No CTDs or anything.
Why would it do this?
From the OP: Recommended System Requirements (Mine specs will be in the parenthesis)
OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (Windows 10) PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD FX-8350 (i7 6700K) MEMORY: 16 GB RAM (16 GB RAM) VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 1060 3GB, AMD RX 480 4GB (Asus GeForce GTX Strix 980Ti) HARD DRIVE: At least 55 GB of free space (200 GB Free, more if I delete some games I don't play) DIRECTX: DirectX 11 (DirectX 12)
So, I'm over or at the recommended specs yet the game uses 100% cpu?
The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to decided whether to get it on PC or just go back to the simpler Xbox route for this game. Cause I need to be able to play it on Day 1. lol

That might help with the throttling issues if it's been a while, and it isn't that much harder to do than replacing paste on a CPU.

Thank you. I understand that the black screen issue has happened. That's how I found the alt+enter fix to actually get into the game. But I was wondering what's the deal with 100% cpu use? That wasn't really mentioned in the black screen problems in my searches, anyway. Sorry if my question was repetitive. =/

From the OP: Recommended System Requirements (Mine specs will be in the parenthesis) OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (Windows 10) PROCESSOR: Intel Core i7-4790 or AMD FX-8350 (i7 6700K) MEMORY: 16 GB RAM (16 GB RAM) VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 1060 3GB, AMD RX 480 4GB (Asus GeForce GTX Strix 980Ti) HARD DRIVE: At least 55 GB of free space (200 GB Free, more if I delete some games I don't play) DIRECTX: DirectX 11 (DirectX 12) So, I'm over or at the recommended specs yet the game uses 100% cpu? The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to decided whether to get it on PC or just go back to the simpler Xbox route for this game. Cause I need to be able to play it on Day 1. lol Make a good malware scan/ trash cleaning, seems like there's something(s) on the background eating your CPU usage, as long as you free some space it won't be any diference playing with the cpu at 90 or 50% except higher temperature , and then get the game on pc , all the way imo , you got the pc to play with better visuals and fluidity than console + you always can plug a controller on the pc

After watching all the available bm's on yt I think its safe to say that the cheaper option to play ultra 60fps at 1080 is a gtx1070 , you have more flexibility on cpu tho Now I have a question for you, considering how well bf1 performed... call me paranoic but, looking at visuals/performance ratio, could it be done at purpose to sell more 1070's and 1080's?

It's just when you start the game? or while playing too?
