Anyone with a 7970 can just forget about getting any sort of stable framerates. Even 720p on low I get jumpy framerates, and I highly doubt my 3770k is the cause.
I'd try to fiddle around some more, but I only have six hours left. Looks like I might just have to just grab a RX 480.

Disheartening because I have a 7950 at the moment, but curious because I've seen reports from people with R9 280s and 280Xs saying that it runs fine, and those cards are just rebranded 7900s.

I 16 GB RAM DDR3! Thanks to a good friend, I have 16 gigs. With that, including my GTX 970, and i7-4790k processor, I should hopefully be fine. I have the exact same spec. I'm playing on 2560x1080 which isn't that much more demanding than 1920x1080. On high preset I must say I expected more, I'm probably averaging 50FPS with lows dipping into 35-40 range. I do get above 60FPS in open terrain sometimes but once I'm in an area with a lot of objects, instant frame drop. Funnily enough it's the worst on the Tempest with framrate drops all around. I'm not too worried though, Nvidia hasn't released their driver for the game yet so I'm hoping on launch I will be able to get 60FPS on average at least on high.

I'm not too worried though, Nvidia hasn't released their driver for the game yet so I'm hoping on launch I will be able to get 60FPS on average at least on high. As long as it doesn't get under 30 fps, I don't care. 30-60 is the range I want. I say this because I play both a gaming PC and a console (the PS4). I play Mass Effect on my PC, and the first 3 games run on constant 60 fps (this is because they are older games). As for the PS4, I play games like the Uncharted series (I have all 4 games). Uncharted games 1-3 run at 60 fps because they are remasters. Uncharted 4 runs at 30 fps (Story Mode), which still looks good, in my opinion. So, I constantly switch around from time to time. If anything, I could always lock Andromeda to play at 30 fps, no problem. The question is....if I do that (and it's very likely that I won't), would this cause screen tearing on my TV screen, which is obviously 60hz? PS: Surprise! I don't use a monitor lol! I prefer gaming on a big screen TV. I don't worry about lag because A: I play on the "Game" preset, and B: I don't play games like COD, or Battlefield which require lower response time. I'm all for story-based games.

I'm getting acceptable framerate (in between 40~70fps) with my overclocked GTX 960M, undervolted i7-6700HQ, custom settings. 1920x1080 scaled to 720p, v-sync off, high textures, ultra texture filtering, temporal antialiasing, medium lighting, ambient occlusion set to off, all else set to low. Been very happy with the results so far considering that a GTX 960M is weaker than a GTX 660.

Just a tip that helped me greatly. I gained over 20fps with it.
Enable triple buffering if you play with vsync on. (or disable vsync, altough that my cause screen tearing)
I never thought vsync might impact the fps so much, but for me it did wonders.
System; i7-2600k 3,8 ghz, 8gb ram, gtx 970.
Now I can play at 50-60 fps on high. The worst fps dip I noticed so far was to 45, where before it was to 30 on medium.

Then I set everything on "High" @1080p and everything was fine ... no Lags. What framerate are you getting on your computer? Your GPU is close to mine --I have the 7970--and I can't get a stable framerate at all. It'll go from mid 50's to mid-40s with some jutters, and then drop down to mid-30s on medium. I'd rather not drop spend money on a 480, but I'm six seconds away from doing it.

Posting this here, too, maybe I can have some success if I spread my woes around. Guys, I have a problem with the trial. Was going to wait for the official launch but I gave in last night and got Origin Access to play over the weekend (Romanian over here, so I'd have to wait until the 23rd). When I click Play, the game starts but all I get is a black window with nothing happening (no sound or visuals). MEA process is present in Task Manager. I looked online to see how I could fix this but so far I got nothing. - I don't have Corsair Utility Engine - I allowed ActivationUI from the game files on my firewall and antivirus - I disabled my firewall and antivirus - I have the latest AMD graphics drivers - I repaired the game - I reinstalled the game - Alt+Enter doesn't do anything to the window - I found a mention of editing a file you find in Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Andromeda\Save folder, but I don't have that folder (only Screenshots and Temp) I already lost 30 minutes of the trial trying to fix this. At this point I'm on the verge of just cancelling Origin Access and mourning the 4 euro I paid for something that doesn't work. Can anyone help out with this or is it really a lost cause?

i5 6400 8GB RAM Rx 480 8GB 17.3.2
Exactly the same performance at all resolutions and all settings, except Ultra. CPU is bottlenecking my system but CPU is not at 100%, it is stucked at 60/70% usage :/. This problem is exactly the same that a lot of people had in the first weeks of BF1. I have seen a couple of videos and many CPUs got the same problem, are always at 60/70% but GPU is at 100%. I'm sure that an Rx 480 can move this game perfectly at medium/high settings (furthermore is the GPU that you put in recomended settings).
I will reserve some hours before buy the game to test Day 1 patch and if the performance doesn't improve I won't buy the game. I'm tired to buy bad ports and lose my afternoons finding solutions in forums. It's incredible that I can play GTA V, Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 at 2K 60fps with high settings, and this game can't hold 60fps at 720p...

Reporting in with the following specs:
Core i5 750 overclocked at 3.6 GHz, circa 2009 16 GB RAM Radeon HD 7870
Graphics on medium 1080p. I get on average 50-60 fps in outdoor locations, I've seen it go down to 40 fps in combat. Not bad at all... getting a geforce 1060 on monday though, will crank up the graphics and update this to report on how it works out with that CPU. So far it's not bottlenecking or anything, about 50% use during play.

My settings are:
GPU: GeForce GTX 770 CPU: I7-4790 Memory: 7.95 GB Ram
With Windows 7.
What sort of performance should I be expecting here?
And what sort of upgrades can you recommend to help me achieve higher stats. Is it best to buy another 8gigs of memory or get rid of whats in there and buy a 16gig one. Same with video card, should I just go all in and get a 500-600+ card or just a 250-300 one and dual that with the 770?

Have you updated your video drivers lately? There's a new AMD video driver out just a couple of days ago that I updated. Note that the driver I got was NON-WHQL and I'm running a newer vid card on Win 10. www.pcgamer.com/amd-rolls-out-1732-drivers-bound-for-andromeda/If you do update, do a clean install and make a restore point in case you have to roll back the driver. (I usually do a backup before I install major programs, OS updates and some driver updates.) HTHsupport.amd.com/en-us/download

You would be better off buying a 480 or 1060 since 770 is very hard to come by nowadays and SLI support can be wonky. I believe you can expect to run the game on low-medium settings. Another 8 GB of RAM wouldn't hurt either but I think that the GPU is a better upgrade.

i5 6400 8GB RAM Rx 480 8GB 17.3.2 Exactly the same performance at all resolutions and all settings, except Ultra. Hopefully they fix it. I hava i5 6500 and 950 gtx.. the prozessor is at 100% even in menu. How was it solved in BF1?
