I'm VERY new to the whole PC building thing.. I think I should be okay? I did research, but I second guess everything into oblivion and I don't know "what's good" in the PC gaming world. i5-6500 3.2GHz GTX1070 8GB I know I'm good on RAM, storage, OS, etc. It's a new PC. I just waffled at the i5 vs. spending a lot more for an i7. I ordered the parts yesterday, thinking "how much you want to bet I'll commit to these and they'll release the specs in the next week?" Ye, you'll be fine on high/ultra, you have a slightly better PC that I do. How much ram do you have though?

Damn, i7 CPU. I have the i5-4670K. Everything else is ok though, 16GB of RAM and my sweet gtx 1080. Maybe not with everything set on ultra, but I'll be fine on 1080p I guess. Maybe in some time I'll upgrade the CPU and the monitor Oh I totally bet you can run 1080p on ultra everything an i7 might increase your minimum frame rate slightly, but your i5 is a very good cpu

Only area I'm not sure about is my card. I know it will run, just not sure if high/ultra is feasible: R9 290 4GB VRAM.
Any ideas? I have plenty over recommended for RAM, CPU and space and I'm using Windows 10 so I'm sure I'm good in those areas.

So I can play at high settings..... Nice.
My card is a 1050 Ti not a 1060 so I can get close, maybe keep them down a bit to favour frame rate.

Hmm, how does a GTX 1060 compare to the GTX 970? I have a Gigabyte Gaming G1 GTX 970 that's super overclocked, so I wonder how that compares in benchmarks to the 1060? At least the 970 has an extra 0.5 GB of VRAM I'm hoping to hit very high, if not ultra settings, with my build @ 1080p : CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k @ 4 GHz GPU: Gigabyte Gaming G1 GTX 970 RAM: 16 GB

However, the R9 and the x90 suggests your card is (or was) high end. So I think you're gonna be fine with a mix of high/ultra. In any case, as I've said before. Antialias filters are always your enemy, if you struggle a little bit, turn them bitches off or low.

Antialias filters are always your enemy, if you struggle a little bit, turn them bitches off or low. Yeah, it was high end a few years ago, just not sure if it will shape up now. Anti alias filters are usually a good way to tweak performance, true. To be honest I rarely notice the difference between the filter levels anyway. Thanks! I would bet you can run high pretty good still at 1080p, maybe some ultra settings still in there. You don't really have an upgrade until 1070, the 1060 would be a bump but not by much Sounds like a more than acceptable level for me, then, thanks! I don't need to upgrade for a few extra ultra settings here and there. Edit: Just did a test run with Battlefield 1 on my husband's account, since it has similar requirements. Was able to run everything on Ultra and it kept a consistent 58-60 FPS throughout. Going to rub it in hubby's face, since he was skeptical my card could run BF1 and Andromeda on High settings.

I'd still try ultra if I were you Also, while the 1060 would be a slight improvement I'd hold out for a 1070. I just don't think the 1060 would give you much bump for the dollars

I don't really know the 970 too much, with all that problem Nvidia had with the 970s (or was it the 960s?) memories. Still, I think you'll be fine, you have a pretty good CPU and enough ram. I believe is possible to max out the game with those specs. How much VRAM does that 970 of yours have, btw? I5 3570k 8gb ram GTX 970 (MSI Gaming). How do I shape up? You may want to buy at least another 4gigs (or 8Gb if you can) of ram, just in case. I have 8gigs like you right now, but I'm not confident so I'll be buying another 8Gb. The rest is fine imo. Assuming you end up with 16gb of ram you possibly might run the game at ultra or mix of high or ultra. However my knowledge of the 970 graphics cards is very basic (see what I discussed in the other quote above), so I'm not 100% sure.
