Theres been some rumors going on that Hyperion will arrive later than the other arks and the Nexus, now one guy at MMO champions claims it actually arrives decades late, which he saw mentioned in one preview. This apparently explains why theres these huge groups already and how we can speak to andromedan natives. Anyone care to find this article and collaborate that info maybe?

A few media people already said that the Hyperion will arrive on Andromeda after 634 years. That is a few decades late if the Nexus and the other Arks indeed arrived after 600 years.

I guess that's why they said it's not 600 but 634(?) I know there's extra 30 years now. Makes total sense.

Wait, wait, wait...So essentially, all the other Milky Way aliens were sitting around twiddling their thumbs for 34 years while they wait for humanity show up enmasse and take charge? No establishing of colonies, no building up of the Nexus, nothing? From what I can gather then, based off the awards trailer, the rest of the Initiative (and the myriad of other species involved in it) has managed to fracture under a rebellion; lead by one of their own security chiefs no less; lose track of their other arks, and generally stagnate all the while waiting for our special snowflake Pathfinder to sweep in and save the day. And I thought the game couldn't be even more human-centric than it already is.

We know there will be outposts, and I imagine at least a few decent sized cities already established when we arrive. The nexus looks like it's under construction when we arrive, I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming book "Nexus Rising" going into deep detail on why the construction might be taking even longer, like a labor revolt or something.

And there a re some colonies like the one Sloane has on Kadara.

But in general nothing solid gets accomplished until us humans show up though right? I get that a human focus is the nature of the narrative but seriously, I at least expected the other council species to have some show of competence, some Initiative of their own. If things are this bad after 34 years then how did the Turians, Salarians, and Asari survive the thousands of years prior to human contact in the Milky Way without swallowing their own tongues I wonder?

I may be wrong but the impression i got from Dev talks and the previews was that the game would be more about saving the human colonist inside the Hyperion (finding a viable place for a colony?) rather than saving the whole Andromeda Initiative.

Don't those same talks mention how our Pathfinder will be able to complete construction on the Nexus and help secure a foothold in Andromeda? It would seem more likely that if we are going to be the one's responsible for finishing the Citadel MK2, that the rest of the Initiative isn't doing too well without us.

Kallo will be alive? Also: what if Vetra was born in Andromeda? Her bio says she was born on Palaven. True! I totally forgot! Maybe she went with her family when she was barely a child. That would make her more Andromedian than Milky Wayer. She would have little memories of Palaven. Also, that would explain the importance of her family and family bonding. Maybe they are still alive... or they died in Andromeda

I always thought the 634 years was just a more precise description of how long it took everyone to get there. 600 always seemed like a rounded number to me, something easier to say pre-release.
With our squadmates and other characters not being a lot older than us, I doubt we are 34 years late. Maybe a few at most.

I agree, we know from the first Initiative briefing that the Nexus acts as a forward operating base, which means it's going to arrive before the Arks, now how long are they there before we arrive can range from as little as a few weeks to as long as a year.

I always thought that the Nexus was intended to arrive slightly ahead of the Arks to act as a jump off/orientation point for the arriving settlers. A lag of 34 years seems a bit excessive though.
