Why Cora isn't the New Pathfinder

A French magazine gave a reason. It's been posted in a thread in the spoiler subsection. I can PM you if want.

I actually disagree with it being nepotism. Cora is his Alec's second in command. He would have had to previously appoint one of his children to that role but I don't think there's any way that could have been possible. Nepotism would have been if Alec retired and named a Ryder twin as his replacement.

It might be a bit far-fetched, but here we go.

I was watching the vid unveiling that Natalie Dormer is Dr. Lexi's VA and one of her lines called my attention.
It goes something like "It's a seizure, her brain can't handle the connection!"

So what if that's the reason why Cora doesn't step in as the new Pathfinder once something happens to DadRyder?
Her brain cannot "connect" to the ship for whatever reason and they default to you because of Alec's mystery project.


Dunno, maybe it's a bit too obvious and everybody already figured it out, while I'm here thinking I'm grasping at straws.
