I haven't really done cosplay before and there are a couple reasons for it. I've never had experience with stitch clothing, make-up, design or any of the other complicated costume design techniques used to create costumes. But I think the biggest problem I have is that because I'm pretty critical of my own work, I feel that by trying to make a costume based on, or act like, a favorite character, I feel like I'm not doing the character justice. But honestly, that shouldn't stop me from trying out some rather cheap and unprofessional versions of cosplay.
What character(s) would you like to cosplay as? Either from the original trilogy, or Andromeda? And how would you make that costume if you had no budget, no real creative skills, and the only thing you can do is throw together costume or clothing pieces around each other?
For me, one character I would like to do a cosplay on is Jaal. I think the best way I can handle him is to probably get some football armor, placed them under a purple jacket (zipped up to best of ability), get a blue sheet and cut it into the cape shape, try some makeup for the face, make a mock version of the visor, and try using towels and paper to make the alien hair thing. It sounds a little tough, but I think with some trial and error, I could pull it off. Now I just have to figure out how Jaal acts.
