I don't know much about the actual day to day work of designing a game. To pass the time I've been wondering about what is actually happening at Bioware. So, have they actually finished the game and stopped working on it now? I think ME3 Final Hours said that actual work on ME3 (fixing bugs) ended about 3 or 4 weeks before the release date. I assume that most games of this scale follow a similar schedule.
Anyone here have experience with working on a game?
Are we there yet?

The game is "done" as in it has gone gold. They are still working on bugfixes for the day 1 patch though.

Apparently the game went Gold this weekend, meaning that it's done. Next is processing, packaging and distribution. It'll probably arrive at your local GameStop a few days to a week before launch.
In the meantime, the crew will be working on the Day 1 patch.

Yep! As others said, yesterday the game went gold and they are expecting the first patch to be ready for early access users.

Aaahhh. So that's what going gold means. Anyway. Yaaayyy!!! I can't imagine what it feels like to finish a project that has taken YEARS to complete. Although I CAN image what it feels like to wait for years while a project gets finished.

Do we know if they are currently working on DLC? Nothing yet. I think they want to see how people take to the game first. Also this game is really long, so we'll have a lot to do even after we beat the main storyline.

I think they at least must have some ideas knocking around for dlc. It's not usually that long before it starts rolling out.
What a nice gold dragon gif.

Games these days are never "done." The game has gone "gold," implying it's ready to see if it will pass certification on the various platforms or not. In theory, it could still fail certification, but this isn't exactly BioWare's first rodeo.
BioWare will still be fully committed to the game by fixing bugs, possibly doing free updates, and the inevitable paid DLC down the road since there is no season pass.

They finished the game some months ago I think. In November I saw a tweet saying they had reviewed the final level to tremendous praise and hype within the team, so it's been in polish mode ever since.
For whatever reason I have a feeling that the final shot in the #2 trailer with the title screen is a glimpse of the final mission. Just a hunch though.

I should note just for the record that the build all the reviewers got to play recently was supposedly super buggy. I'm not saying they can't fix it at this point but this close to launch and they build being that buggy is troubling.

I'm not saying they can't fix it at this point but this close to launch and they build being that buggy is troubling. It's not necessarily indicative of anything. It's common practice for the build that developers use as a "demo" is oftentimes never the most recent build in development. For all we know, the build BioWare provided to the press was months old. They simply used it because it was one of the more stable builds and probably had particular areas of the game BioWare wanted to showcase to the various gaming media outlets. We obviously won't know until we play the game for ourselves.

I should note just for the record that the build all the reviewers got to play recently was supposedly super buggy. I'm not saying they can't fix it at this point but this close to launch and they build being that buggy is troubling. I don't know if "super buggy" is the right terminology. Some reviewers said it was a bit buggy, true, but take into consideration that Alanah Pearce, the IGN reviewer who played the game, stated "Of course, this was not a final build, and these are exactly the kinds of issues that tend to get hammered out at the end of development, but the bugs are worth mentioning. Hopefully the game releases without any of these issues." So I would say that for the reviewers that know a thing or two about game development they aren't tremendously concerned.
