Building a culture of interspecies cooperation is smart if you're building a new society. I imagine the Pathfinder teams are gonna be kinda like quasi-celebrities, it is a terribly glamorous/adventurous job, so if there's a spotlight on them and you want to facilitate a kinda atmosphere I'd make sure the Pathfinder teams had the best people from all the Initiative's member species. FTFY. Tune.

The reason the Human pathfinder team is not all human is because people would be pissed if there was no Asari,Krogan,or Turian on the team. Bioware are giving people the races they want and a human only team sounds very boring to me. This. It be like Star Wars TOR, think about it, its full of intresting and iconic races, and what do we get for player races? A red human, a green human, a blue human, a human with horns, a blind human etc... basically.

My understanding is that you start out with an entirely human core team - Ryder x3, Cora and Liam. It's only when shit goes wrong that you start recruiting aliens.

The Pathfinder team including your father is a four man team, which seems appropriate for a recon/exploration squad. When things go wrong and you end up being the Pathfinder I'm going to guess that you will be forced to recruit other individuals. Vetra and Drak for their knowledge of current situational status in the Helios Cluster. Peebee for her knowledge of Remenant technology. Finally Jaal when you find allies to take on Kett.

I assume most of the initial Pathfinder team gets killed during the opening mission on Habitat 7, which leads us to recruiting aliens to the team.

I can understand that many player prefer alien and Bioware just response to the demand. All I want is story explanation (make sense one of cause). But I still don't understand why many people say Human Companion are boring. I think most of them (Include alien) are interesting character (exclude combat, I admit some of them are a bit unnecessary) I don't think it's all humans, it's just the least interesting companions relatively speaking tend to be human for most. Personally I thought Kaidan and Jacob were the only genuinely uninteresting characters. Vega was well voice acted and I liked him far more than I expected to but there's no denying he's a fairly generic muscle bound soldier. They had backstories I felt could have went somewhere but ultimately they just don't stand out. When the weakest squad-mate from each instalment is human and some folks may have never played as Kasumi or Zaeed (due to them being DLC), it's easy to see where the perception comes from. I don't think it's fair given there's been some interesting human companions but I understand it.

Vetra and Drak for their knowledge of current situational status in the Helios Cluster. Peebee for her knowledge of Remenant technology. Finally Jaal when you find allies to take on Kett. Basically this. I'm actually grateful they took the time to make it clear that the initial team is Alex, Scott, Sara, Cora, Liam - that's pretty full. It could have been skimmed over or rather off-screen instead. Your father dies or goes AWOL or whatever. Your sibling is incapacitated. You are newbie to be the Pathfinder. Scott/Sara, Cora, Liam isn't enough. Vetra and Drack introduce you to the state of things, or at least the alien side of it. Probably intro to the Milky Way opponent (Anarchists, etc) enemy faction. Peebee joins us on our chase for Remnant tech. Probably intro to the Remnant enemy faction. Jaal joins us in his rebellion against the Kett (occupiers? something else?). Probably intro to the Kett enemy faction. Then we take them all to deal with everything and build up the Nexus. This is all still the premise though. We will have to play to see the fate of Andromeda's society, the goals of the Kett, the mysteries of the Remnant, and what this all means for the series, a possible larger story arc, and the future of Ryder.
