So i was watching the latest Minius video and could finally actaully see that there is a part on the latest trailer which shows something that nobody seems to be talking about or discussing. I searched in the forum adn couldn't find any topics talking about it so... I bet this is gonna make some people happy and other angruy but t seems we will have the Probing Mining system (from orbit as well as in the ground) just as in ME2 and ME3, but i couldn't say which of the previous systems would be more similar to the newest we are going to see, because it seems people liked more of the ME2 system than ME3 . *sorry for not posting the image in a spoiler box since idk how to do it. So what do you guys think of this? do you have more info about that? I would also like to dig this music video up from the depths of ME2 time, which some of you would probably like:

This didn't look like a "probing minigame" at all to me. The reason I say this is because the next frame shows contact with a satellite that's in orbit. Mac Walters also said in an interview with Game Informer that the resource minigame we knew from ME2 and ME3 is not in MEA, so I don't believe this is what you think it is.

This is the new war table. You can tell by the way it zooms almost like when it puts a dagger in the board in DA:I.

Yeah i think i remember Mac Walters mentioning something about it indeed. Anyways, this "Anomaly Detected", the proe actually descending there and all, it looks pretty much the same stuff, but probably without the boring part and maybe with some mechanics that is actually incolved in planet management like studying it, colonizing etc instead of gathering stuff.

I dunno about probing in general, but resource collection will be done via unmanned, placeable mining units on planets... much like we tagged resources like wood in DAI. That and actually picking them up on foot.

If you read up on this, it's not even remotely related to ME2 planet-scanning. It's much closer to ME3's "Anomaly Detected", then investigate. In the case you've screen-captured, the anomaly is a space station. I'm looking forward to this, while I save-edited ME2 planet-scanning out of my experience. Also, I kind of expected this thread to belong to ProbeAway, after reading the title line.

Perhaps a hybrid system where you scan the planet for anomalies, then you take the Nomad down to that location and explore it, then you set up your resource gathering machines at an ideal spot.
Seems a lot of hoops to jump through for something they claim to be "automated".
Then again, Gaute Gadager claimed that Shadowlands "Pocket Bosses" would eliminate camping, but then you had to camp for the parts to spawn the Pocket Boss, so...

Edit: They did say that some planets you scan would purely be for 'probing away' (as opposed to landing) but I think you just scan the planet with one ping, then drop a probe.

It's odd. Im curious as to whether the probe from space thing is only used to find landing sites rather than materials since we can launch mining drones while we're on the planet. Unless its just an additional way of getting resources...I dunno.

Maybe... also bring back some names from Milky Way if they remind me of those places. If I find a planet with lava it is getting called Therum and if I find a forest planet with statues it is getting called Illos PERIOD. I am definately calling humanities new home something else...maybe Tarn Vedra or as they did in Stargate -Terra Atlantus or Tau'ri. One thing is certain after that playthrough the next playthrough I am definitely going all Freelancer.
