So looking at gameplay previews, the phyical sights of assault rifles have been removed from their bases models again, likely to make room adjustible custom sights as mods.
...This annoys me a little. I mean, making the sights a customisable part of the weapon is fine, theres nothing wrong with that. But I dislike how in ME3 they stripped all the returning assault rifles sight designs to do it. Couldn't they have kept those as the base model before applying an upgrade sight? Its lead to some of them looking goofy without them, like the Avenger especially. And it looks like they are doing the same in Andromeda.
I don't know. I know this isn't really important and it won't affect my overall experience with the game. Its just a pet peeve of mine.
Anyone out there feel similar?

Not really. I was never particularly interested in the gun designs from the start. If they look good, great. If they don't, I doubt I'm really going to notice or pay much attention to it, because I'm gonna be too focused on moving around and trying to kill enemies.

I know what OP is talking about. It bothers me as well. I think it kinda ruins the Avenger/M7 Lancer design.

It'd be better if I illustrate with images. Heres the original Avenger model in ME and 2. Here it is in in ME3 and Andromeda. Apolagies for the large images, but they demonstate my point. I know one can say that the original gun scope was pointless as there was only 1 lens, but I always assumed that there was a minature camera at the end of it. Without the scope, the rifle just looks a bit wonky, like the shooter had to better guess where the shot will go without it.

Yet here people complain about wether characters have cringy faces or hair that is too short or too long. This dosn't stray much farther than those do.
Heck, in-universe, I'd think having a functional scope on your weapon is actually rather important.

Nah, don't really mind. I do hope however that this time maybe they made the mod sights fit better with the weapons, some looked really bad in ME3.
While on the topic of scope, also hoping for more kinds. Let me put a simple 2x zoom on a sniper, or maybe remove scope for normal over shoulder zoom.

I don't know as they'd need to return the scope to the Avenger, but it would be a nice touch to add basic sights on guns as one of those attention to detail things.

That's always bugged me too. The Avenger is bad but the Mattock is worse. The originally designed scope was integrated into the carry handle section. In ME3 adding a scope to it places it ON TOP of the carry handle. It not only ruins the aesthetic but functionality as well. The height over bore would be insane and a proper cheek weld, impossible. Gun guys get it.

I never really cared about it in Mass Effect, but it always bothered me in games with real weaponry and had the rear and front sights down or missing.
But then I stopped caring once I started to shoot stuff, unless I was aiming in first person.

The latest Ai briefing has scope-less Avenger in-game but still uses scoped one for in-depth look. Ah well, they still can't decide which barrel it supposed to shoot with - upper for ME3, lower for ME1-2 and MEA.

I watched/read many of the impressions of the media outlets, and in regards to cover, most of them said that the new automatic cover system was clunky only at first and took some getting used to. Being different =/= negative.
In regards to most of the other things said, it's clear that this game will be buggy and have a lot of technical hangups, but it's also clear that Bioware/EA did not do a very good job of presenting vertical slices to the media--seems like they chose to just dump them into early & mid-game portions without any clue, leaving many of them dumbfounded and lost. Seems like it would've been better to do it like ME2 where they used a significant portion of Thane's recruitment mission as a base for most of the demos, making it easier to flesh out & understand, but perhaps the emphasis of the preview was more on "new exploration & variety." Polygon was actually frustrated that hardly anything was explained when they were shown the second portion mid-game, and it was pretty much "yeah, just go shoot stuff instead."

Honestly, I didn't even notice. Doesn't bother me in the least, in MEA or ME3, and I made the ME3 mod to add the scopes back! (I actually did that one on request. Never use it myself)

Yet here people complain about wether characters have cringy faces or hair that is too short or too long. This dosn't stray much farther than those do. Heck, in-universe, I'd think having a functional scope on your weapon is actually rather important. The reason for that is because, with the character's faces, that's something you're going to be staring at through your entire playthrough. You're going to see it during dialogue, you're going to see it when you're walking around, you're going to see it during cutscenes, etc. The character's face is going to constantly be in your face (no pun intended). With the guns, I doubt the majority of people would even notice that, especially when it's just the scope and you're not going to be staring at your gun the whole time you're playing the game. When you're in combat, sure you may notice it, briefly, but you're not going to sit there staring at it while enemies are shooting at you, unless you are just that nitpicky. To each their own, of course. Everyone's nitpicky about something, I'm just saying, I can definitely understand why more people are nitpicking the character's faces over whether or not their assault rifle has a scope.

Honestly, it bugs me too, but I'd rather the sights be removed all together then have them slap on separate 3d models of the scope "mods" on the top of the weapon handles cuz that **** was ugggggggllly.

So, had a look at some videos of Andromeda gameplay recently and it shows that you can modify the Avenger to have the scope back, it just adds a zoon function into the gameplay now. Not sure about the other rifles though.
Well thats one thing that makes me happy, I know I'll be rolling with that for a while.
