Considering the Tempest is a very important "character" in its own sense, I feel it's absolutely necessary it has its own thread separate from the rest. As everybody knows, the Tempest is the scout ship for the human Pathfinder team. It is substantially smaller than both variants of the Normandy: The Tempest is 95.2 meters long, 49.6 meters wide, has a gross weight of 1,050 metric tons and is capable of doing 13 light years per day. One of the highly touted features of the Tempest is that we'll be able to go from the galaxy map on the bridge all the way to the Nomad and on a planet's surface without a load screen (or hour-long elevator rides)! It's also worth pointing out that the Tempest will actually land on planet surfaces, unlike the Normandy! The Tempest sacrifices heavy armoring and a main gun for rapid speed and quick escapes. Tempest Bridge Tempest Meeting Room Tempest Research Room Tempest Cargo Bay Tempest Engineering Tempest Tech & Bio Lab Tempest Med Bay Tempest Armory Tempest Galley Tempest Crew Quarters Tempest Pathfinder's Cabin What are your thoughts on the Tempest?

I am wondering if we will see the diffrence from the size of the ship. :s I mean when there is more to do and to see on the Tempest it would seems awkward.
BTW: It's strange. Alliance had no time to clean up the Normandy in six month but swap orange with blue was possible? I do not like the Allance. did I say it already ?

Where did those measurements come from? I highly doubt the Tempest is that much smaller than the Normandy SR1. Considering how big its interior is and using some images as comparison, they are about the same size.

Alliance had no time to clean up the Normandy in six month but swap orange with blue was possible? I do not like the Allance. did I say it already ? I think the Tempest is just more space-efficient than the Normandy was. There was a lot of wasted space on the SR-1 and the SR-2. Yeah, some nut named Conrad Verner said he'd repaint the SR-2 for the Alliance. He proclaimed he was Shepard's biggest fan or something crazy. We escorted him off the base. Where did those measurements come from? I highly doubt the Tempest is that much smaller than the Normandy SR1. Considering how big its interior is and using some images as comparison, they are about the same size. I'm not sure about the measurements, but BioWare Montreal did say in its cover story with Game Informer that the Tempest is smaller than both versions of the Normandy. Let me see if I can find the pertinent article.

Let me see if I can find the pertinent article. Please do. I can believe the Tempest is smaller than the SR1, just not that much smaller than the SR1. I found the article, although it doesn't specify how much smaller the Tempest is compared to the Normandy. It also doesn't specify which Normandy, but I would assume the SR-1 since it's smaller. www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2016/11/21/getting-to-know-the-tempest-mass-effects-new-normandy.aspxThis might be one of those questions to ask BioWare on Twitter to see if they give a response.

I found another comparison shot of the Tempest versus both versions of the Normandy: The numbers are slightly different (the SR-2 and SR-1 are shorter in this one), but they are largely the same otherwise.

Yep. I'm aware. It states at the bottom of the image that it's "based on sizes shown in trailers." We do know that the Tempest is smaller than the Normandy (likely the SR-1), but BioWare hasn't specifically provided any details. You'd think they wouldn't mind talking about it considering this shouldn't be linked to any story spoilers.

Yea, when I saw it I figured it was made based on info we got and I just missed it, but nope. Admittedly I called it a screen on twitter while knowing from the writing on the bottom right it was not an official pic.

It would be great if BioWare just provided us an official diagram comparing the three ships! The Tempest is going to be one of the most important hubs in the game, as we are all going to get to know it quite well. Considering how iconic the Normandy is, the Tempest has big shoes to fill.

BioFan randomly answered it right after I deleted it to redo the tweet so I had to add clarification in the last bit lol Here's the start of the tweet conversation.

I tweeted all of them as well, but I never get a response. I guess I'm not part of the cool kids club. Hopefully, BioWare says something about the size of the Tempest! I'd love to know!

Body of the tempest is not much smaller than SR1 in that picture actually, it's just thruster ends of SR1 that make it look longer. And it is likely that it will have more interior space than Normandy, because unlike Normandy it's not just a long noodle with shuttle bay stuck to the bottom, it seems to get wider toward the back.

Fiannan received her copy of the "Art of Mass Effect Andromeda" early, which included all the specifics on the Tempest (length, width, weight, speed) The Tempest is 95.2 metres long, 49.6 metres wide, has a gross weight of 1,050 metric tonnes and has an average speed of 13 light years per day.

Yea the SR1 crew space definitely isn't much larger. A lot of the SR1 (and the SR2) are the engines and wings. Crew space is just the central part. Since the tempest doesn't have an elevator they could utilize the available space a lot better with rooms accessible from a central corridor. The Tempest probably doesn't have a massive CIC either, still has a meeting space but the SR1 did too. The Tempest is wider at the back but most of that is just the wings and engines (a bit weird how much smaller the Tempest's engine are in relation to SR1), the main hull doesn't get much wider. Average? Thought that was top? Just going to assume it is a typo (be it in in the Artbook or by Fiannan), average speed is highly dependant on circumstances and doesn't exactly belong on the technical specifications.

Agreed. The actual engines of the SR-1, in particular, jet out. It's quite deceptive how large it actually is. I believe the Tempest, overall, has far more practical space in the interior and is far better designed than the Normandy. These fan-created blueprints may not be far off after all. They both had the size of the Tempest on point, so it's fair to say it's slightly smaller than the SR-1.

Agreed on the tempest having the better interior design. The lighting I feel is a big factor to this. It makes everything really stand out. And compared to the normandy it all the rooms look more easily accessible and the layout seems simple in design while maintaining a nice aesthetic appeal that puts it above the normandy's complex interior layout.

this thread needs pictures from the in and outside, as well as schematics and absolutely ZERO discussion about weapons... I can add more pictures! To my knowledge, the Tempest doesn't actually have any weapons (at least not a main gun like the Normandy). I believe that was talked about in the briefing dedicated to the Tempest? I can go back and look. Agreed. The actual engines of the SR-1, in particular, jet out. It's quite deceptive how large it actually is.
