I see the cynical parade is still around this "unofficial" BSN... everything I saw looked amazing aside from the facial animiations, which is almost a Bioware staple these days. If you think this place is full of the nattering nabobs of negativism, you should take a gander at the comment section for that video. This place is a ray of sunshine in comparison. Hilarious that Bioware suggested youtube as one of the alternatives for the 'toxic' BSN.

For those concerned about scanner usage. Andre Miller @moneyoffools Is the scanner actually part of the omni tool? Do you use it constantly? Neat palette cleanser mechanic from traversal/combat. Ian S. Frazier @tibermoonYup, part of the omni tool. You NEED to use it at certain points in various quests, but you can optionally use it a lot > Ian S. Frazier @tibermoonmore if you wish, either to get more lore about the world or because you want Research Data for crafting. Or both.

Also, and I reiterate again: "Too high to access" ...says the chick with the jet pack. Great writing right there... Ok, vented enough. Was it placed on height reachable by the jet pack? I thought the same, but now I have doubts.

the game looks great, but 17 minuts scanning rocks? boring Theres been stuff like this before tough: In ME2 for instance putting batteries in a mech so it blows up a small mineral node. Or pushing a few buttons on some planet to put up a solar barrier.(argh those side missions) Following Thanes son around for 10 minutes, and one screw up and youre done. ME3 the rachni mission, burning webs, wandering around dark empty tunnels and pushing and shooting reaper buttons. The geth "brain" which was just wandering around and shooting at blocks.

The answer to every platforming puzzle was literally ask SAM to tell you to press the button on the next drone. I can see this forced scanner business getting very repetitive and obnoxious.
But on the plus side the level design really does make use of the jetpack quite well and I've not seen a lava world in years.

Absolutely, but the puzzle was the puzzle and had to be done as planned... while normal in most games, I wouldn't draw attention to it with a stupid line that makes no sense.

I gotta say, staying away from the youtube comments is a good idea. I understand that criticism is a thing, but the pure amount of bitching happening there is nauseating.

Stop picking on IGN, guys. His gameplay skills were not that bad, all things considered:

Gamefaqs and youtube are easily the worst. This place is just cynical, not outright idiotic trolls. Reddit might be the most optimistic, but then I think those places became unofficial gathering places of people that actually LIKE and are happy about the franchises.
I'm dreading DA4's lead up and launch... it will be far worse thanks to the TW3 fanatics that can't help but scream about how godly TW3 is and every other fantasy RPG is trash, especially Dragon Age.

I forgot to mention in my first post... i also do not want to scan all the things in andromeda... scanning is a very boring gameplay mechanic and should be used very sparringly. I've said this before in another thread but... if I can use the scanner to follow someones footprints in a programmed mission, i should also be able to use the scanner to follow the footprints of random mooks. same for all aspects of the scanner... if i can scan for where wires lead for mission objectives i should be able to scan for useless wires in the nexus as well.
also... one thing i didnt like about ME is that it forced you into certain decisions that would be out of character for your 'character'... there were people who did not want to trust any kind of sentient machine, and especially distrusted EDIs EVA body, who wanted to throw EDI and her EVA body out the airlock... but this was never an option and the absolute worst you could do was discourage EDIs relationship with Joker and discourage her rewriting herself. myself, I wanted to kick jacob and miranda off my ship the second i had two other squadmates around but this was never an option, the worst i could do was tell them i didnt trust them and ignore their loyalty missions... now i see PB is pulling some serious BS that puts me on this hellhole planet stuck with her and the worst im going to be able to do is say "bad girl" to discourage this behavior in the future? I should be able to call my ship for pick up, leave her ass behind, and be done with her. there should be a refuse and **** you option for all squadmates and show them to the airlock but this is not going to happen, they even casually released that no squadmates can die in any way, which is a BS spoiler when you look at Grunt from ME3 and the rachni mission where you think hes dead but then you are so relieved hes not, that feelings never gonna happen in andromeda because they just casually released the info that squadmates dont die. bs.
edited to add sentiment from others: "too high to access" says the lady with the jetpack.

Looks good but is Bioware freaking serious with this INSTANT in-game walkthrough during every step, mini-"puzzle" or anything the player could spend more than 1 second thinking about? SAM is literally spouting out full details how to solve everything before Ryder can even walk up to objective Agreed, one thing that immensly annoyed about Mass Effect 2 was how EDI would point out Shepard's every step. In addtion to it being a poor storytelling method it also removes any meaningful interaction from the side of the player, which is kind of important in video games.

Well it looks okay.
I just seriously hate the profile switching and the lack of teammate commands so much. They're both terrible choices.
I want to throw SAM out the airlock.
As for what we've seen on the gameplay, I'm lukewarm. I'm getting DAI flashbacks with Mass Effect paint on it. Not what I wanted to see.

They show off the roller coaster.

From the first time we were told about the scanner, I recall hoping that the thing at least scans in 360 degrees, to save time. It appears that isn't the case. Sigh.
It absolutely makes in-world sense to be scanning the hell out of things. I just wish it were a bit more passive. I'm not sure how you implement passive scanning in a game, other than having things just pop-up when you come within a certain proximity. More important, or "harder target", items alone would require an active scan. I guess we'll see how it's been implemented. Maybe this is how it works? I'm not holding my breath.
