Let's see: - Shadow Strike is as good as Overload against Shields and as good as Warp against Armor and Barrier (More versatile)
- It has more than the double of damage of those powers for a given level. (More powerful)
- Has lower cooldown time (Faster, can be casted more times)
It has some drawbacks: - Can only affect one target each time (Warp is that as well, except if you are using Biotic Combos).
- Can't be used for long range attacks
- Kasumi get exposed while she is doing the attack.
What do you guys think? Do the ups of this power compensates the downs? Does it make Kasumi much more powerful than the other characters? She still has Overload that compensates the lack of long range attacks and Flashbang Grenade that is one of the best CC powers.
What do think it's the better character (power wise) for a stripping defenses role, Miranda or Kasumi? Or for a tech specialist, anti-Geth role? Garrus or Kasumi?
Thanks for your attention.

Based on the specific question in the title, no. Single target nature is what balances the damage. Area Overload and Incineration Blast are more useful overall against shields and armor. Warp can detonate lifted targets.
I also consider Flashbang to be her best power though, so if that was swapped into the question I would be tempted to answer yes. Multitarget CC against protected targets is unique, and it is the best power against Harbinger.
Miranda and Garrus both are slightly better than Kasumi in the pure defense stripping role, IMO. Miranda with party buff, and Garrus with high power damage. If you built Kasumi with Area Overload, you are pulling points from Flashbang, SS or Passive, Miranda and Garrus don't really have that problem (Miranda because she has an extra point, and Garrus doesn't really need maxed CS or any investment in bonus). Of course the difference between Kasumi and Garrus on a synthetic heavy mission isn't going to be too large though, although Kasumi is easily better than him against Collectors.

In addition to what capri233 said, I also find Kasumi's shadow strike of limited benefit until her passive are leveled up. She's just too vulnerable and, if not managed, continually gets herself stuck out of cover in a crowd enemies and overwhelmed. I seem to use more medi-gel trying to keep Kasumi on her feet than I do with any other squad mate.

When I let her use her SS, I'm finding she continually gets stuck out amid a group of enemies... and I don't think I'm alone in that experience given the number of YouTubers I've seen who've complained about her dying repeatedly during the last part of her loyalty mission. I usually just keep her in cover now and spam her overload or flashbangs so she can't decide to use her SS (and I don't tend to put a lot of points into it either).

I was (jokingly) expressing sadness at her dying. Because she's my favorite, apart from Miranda. But now that you mention it, I have literally never had this problem. She always owns for me and I can't recall her dying very often, nor getting stuck. I do tend to disrupt groups of enemies clustered together with my own shenanigans though. I'm not sure if platform, class (she's dream team with my infiltrator and Miranda) or any other technical detail makes a difference, but I've never been disappointed. Can't wait to replay ME2 and have her on my team again.

I often struggle to figure out what they mean.

In her Loyalty mission, when we face the YMIR for the first time, she always dies right in the beginning. I use your tactics. Put her in cover and make her span her Overload (She doesn't have Flashbangs yet). I never got too much attention to SS specs as until now, and never realised that it was effective against all types of protection. That's why my question. Thanks for all your answers.

Kasumi issues using Shadow Strike are pretty common. Biggest problem is if a target is unavailable to her when she decloaks (because it is already killed, or moved too far, moved in front of a place Kasumi can't go...). She may stand around looking stupid, or just try to walk all the way back to her original place.

I pretty much target her SS as soon as cool down is done on enemies on the flanks. This keeps her upright and keeps the damage rolling. This the only squad mate that I micromanage so much.
