To late, already spotted a few. Seriously, though... is it unrealistic? Sure, modern day space exploration - heck, any exploration afford ever undertaken by humanity before - has been a 95% male endeavor. It's logical, it's human nature. Still, realism is no factor in fiction... as long as people realize it's just fiction, I think it's no problem.

Inquisition was the same. If you played as femQuisitor, then that opening scene of you, Leliana, Josephine, Cassandra, and Cullen founding the Inquisition, only Cullen is male.

Idk, maybe i am old, maybe i'm a shortminded but since Inquisition it seems Bioware took an approach to their stories that has been tottaly different from the old games.
We have a lot of sexual salad, like if they MUST INCLUDE ALL SORTS of sexual options, gay, bissexual, transexual, hetero etc. I mean, this may seem to be fair but to me, it's just a way to include more public into your products just as the hollywood movies have been doing with it's films in general, and tha't exactly what turns them into crap movies for the most part. You try to please everyone, ends up pleasing no one.
No wonder women have capabilities, skill, rights or whatever reasons to be in leader positions, i'm not discussin this. What i tried to point is that i felt Male characters in this game were depicted as less important or less powerful. This may seem to be the tide turning away from the feminism which have been reclaiming the exact opposite for quite some time, and i don't want the game to be be neither feminist or the opposite, i only want the game to be a good sci fi fantasy, and this doesn't mean we need to have only men, only women, or a perfect mix of them in leadership positions, but as i said above, my impression is that this kind of approach only turn the game less belieavable or at least the majority of people won't engage in the story so well because it is kinda mixed. People have been complaining about characters being childish too, and this is another part of the same thing, to include more public at the cost of being oriented into some kind of game. It's like: Lets make an horror movie, with adventurous characters, with adult content, childish jokes, a little bit of action and a well centered story within a mixed plotline. okay this will totally get attention, but certainly will not be a great movie.

Was the Systems Alliance all about patriarchy, given how it was dominated by men? (Cora isn't second in command of the Hyperion. She's second in command of the Tempest, a small scout vessel.) She starts off as second-in-command to Alec Ryder, who is pathfinder on Hyperion. That would make her second-in-command on the Hyperion. I'm still not clear on how Bro- or Sis-Ryder play into the Hyperion/Tempest thing. If we replace Alec as pathfinder, do we also take command of Hyperion? Or is the position of pathfinder something other than the leader of each Ark? Why do you think the pathfinder is in command of the Hyperion? I haven't got that impression from anywhere.

Why? 75% female audience, that's why. It's blatant, unrealistic and pandering... but it makes money, I guess. *shrugs* Not quite sure when it started in gaming, but the reasons are definitely the same...

That doesn't say he's commanding the Hyperion. He's the Pathfinder to the ship, he commands its scouts. He doesn't command the ark.

I don't know about you guys, but about an hour after I placed an order for MEA, I heard a loud knocking at the door; I asked who they were, they said they had free m&ms or something. As soon as I opened the door, two enormous women with short pink hair, tattoos, and face piercings pinned me to the ground, while a third took out a huge knife and started sharpening it. I could barely ask what they were up to, before she cut my cock & balls, and tossed them into a plastic bag filled with ice cubes. Before I passed out from the pain, I could barely discern a BioWare logo on the bag.
So, because of this game, I've been emasculated. I've been told that playing "Ride to Hell: Retribution" should help me 'grow a new pair', though I'm not sure. Take caution from my sad tale. This is all a lesbian SJW ploy. Be careful.

Oh my god, they cracked the code! The Andromeda Initiative was actually developed to, ultimately, completely remove males from every species and to become like the Asari. The reason they travelled to Andromeda was to keep out of the councils eye while conducting this, obviously, illegal plan. Damn guys, we finally solved the mystery.

Yea, well, it will pass - ideas come in circles in society - and the next generation of youths is already more conservative and grounded in reality then the last one. Bottom line, again: As long as you know it's only a fun fantasy to indulge, it's all fine.

Everyone is looking at this the wrong way. More female characters means more female voice actresses. Bioware only has to pay them 70 cents on the dollar. Economics fam. you know what? i agree with that! lol more Butts, more bangin. fuck politics, lets just dance and bang in space. The real reason i created this thread was to engage people in a conflict so they stayed tuned up while waiting for today's story video coming soon
